  • Stitchin' Heaven opened its doors in October 1996 in 1000 square feet with 600 bolts of fabric. Deb had left her corporate job so that she could spend a summer with Clay, her 10-year old son, and when the time off was not granted she did the most logical thing and quit her job. This led to the family moving to east Texas to raise emus. They purchased 200 acres in Hainesville just outside of Quitman/Mineola and built a home. The emus never happened, but quilting did as Deb opened her quilt shop.
Stitchin' Heaven was featured in Quilt Sampler magazine in 2000 as one of the Top Ten Shops and grew through the years by diversifying to classes, events, quilting cruises, and Block of the Month programs. Today, Clay and Deb contribute the success of Stitchin' Heaven to the simple fact that they listen to their customers.
Today Stitchin' Heaven is located back in Quitman after a short 7-years in nearby Mineola in a new 17,500 square foot multipurpose building, a 9500 square foot retreat center, and 6 cottages. The 45K square foot warehouse/office/event center is scheduled to open in spring 2022.
    This is the story.
