  • For the record, I've known about this method for a long time but I never used it in the videos and I don't think I will in the future because too many people already get upset about even common hotkeys.

    This is an incredible example of how to add functionality into a user interface without making the basics too complex for a novice user.

    This is great but i wish that FreeCad would had an option adding measurements automatically when you are drawing lines or arches. Or even better ... when you are drawing lines, i wish i would able to add measurements instead adding them later.

      Same, one thing Fusion has on my workflow. Adding dimensions during a sketch is just easier in most cases. But this shortcut is insane

    Everything i know about FreeCad is from this channel, but i still dont know everything ive seen. Im trying real hard to reproduce the "forward look" emblem found on many mid to late 50s mopar vehicles. There arent even very many pics online of them. I need it, not to reproduce a particular vehicle's emblem, but to make something close, but maybe mine... the original isnt symmetrical. I want mine to be symmetrical.... and smaller. It does have some weird geometry and angles though.

    • @JokoEngineeringhelp
      @JokoEngineeringhelp  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good luck on your project! I might model half of it and mirror the body to ensure symmetry

    Noob question: coming from Illustrator, is this the closest you can get to bezier curves in most CAD programs? That is, there is no “freeform” mode where you can convert points from curves to cusps and manipulate the shape organically, correct?

    • @JokoEngineeringhelp
      @JokoEngineeringhelp  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question. If you haven't used sketch splines, they are great for what you're describing. Splines are next to that blue cone looking button in the sketcher menu. They make for great non-constant radius organic shapes like what you are describing.
      The draft workbench, which I don't use often, has an option for bezier tools. I have this video that uses one:
      th-cam.com/video/4nxTQk5WfTU/w-d-xo.html
      Hope that is helpful.

    • @JokoEngineeringhelp

      Sure. Stand on the body in the left history tree and file>Export, choose STL format. You can use the mesh workbench to better control how tight the mesh is and what kind of mesh is used.

    how do you set this up, i tried the m key and it doesnt do anything. and am i able to do this with any other keys. example being the d button for dimensioning constraints. ps why i want to do this is because im from fusion normally i can click on one type of dimensioning constraint but free cad makes this complex by adding separate buttons for dimensioning

    That is so strange.. from other software I was pressing the spacebar to get a straight line and nothing happend.. but this is going to be much more fun.. ! so if you hit the key too many times you have re-hit it over again to get the function you want.. that is croocked.. There is so much stuff in freecad I am like wtf!! like array dont always work as polar in part design or design.. but wait just go to draft and then your hours of crying and trying are over.. wtf why not make one tool in design that works..?

    Hi
    Is it possible for you to make video on how to make multiple holes on cylinder, that goes around and that they are equally spaced ?
    Somehow I'm having difficulty with this in Freecad .
    Thanks

    • @JokoEngineeringhelp
      @JokoEngineeringhelp  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you looking for holes that would be regular through holes or do you need holes that would be normal to the wall of the cylinder, like how the walls would be if you make the holes in a flat blank and then rolled it?

    • @elitecroat4612
      @elitecroat4612 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JokoEngineeringhelp Holes that would be normal to the wall of the cylinder.
      I can create plane on the wall of the cylinder where I can sketch and dimension circle but I cannot create like polar pattern where I would need multiple holes around wall of cylinder with same sketch.
