I have watched your videos for a few years and they are very helpful. I coach Rec girls in a small town. I played soccer growing up, but coaching is a lot different. Watching these videos have helped me get in the coaching grove. I’ve coached the same team age for five years and our small club has put out top competitive players in our area. These girls started Rec and know drive an hour to start on the A team competitive. thanks to your videos.
I always find the two biggest problems in game for my team is communication (demanding the ball) and looking both off the ball and on where to make the next pass! Trying to encourage my boys to know roughly where the next pass is going before they even receive it by having that check and then a double check when they receive it.
I will be initiating this drill tonight at practice. I have 12U boys. This teaches the importance of passing, trapping, staying on your toes, making decisions, communication, spreading the ball out, pushing the play forward.....
Next level would be adding a defender that jumps back n forth between the two passing options so the the player in the middle has to shoulder-check prior to getting the ball to know where the ‘safe’ pass should go. Awesome drill, coach!
I am dying to know what the talk was about Mr. Green! I use a similar drill with 3 color cones drills with the cognitive response for the color. Well done, and thanks for sharing!
Simple and effective if done at right tempo. Could even ask players to add shoulder checks before they turn, very useful for midfielders espescially. Thanks as always for these videos.
I like this one. I would add the mannequin or a pole as your opponent and the player in the middle but be in front of it. Before the player in the middle calla for the ball they touch the mannequin/pole and they drop out to receive the ball and touch it again before receiving the ball from the teammate in the coloured cone
First, priority vertical attack, look at #9,opponents spacing before receiving ball @ 45 degree angle, look at best pass options with big touch to take space or short touches with pressure or 1 touch back to team passer. always moving with vertical passing first option.
One thing you should have in mind that no necessary to announce the color to make the transition or pass, the player should decide to whom the ball will be passed and the receptor must be alert.
Love this quick question tho could you add a defender to stand next to a player so when the player turns with the ball he know has to pass to the free player even though the players colour was called is marked by the defender?
Hey coach. Thanks for great drills and enthusiasm, love it. Can i pick your brain 😳. Got a great bunch of lads u12’s in yorkshire (Bit south of Consett where im from)... couple of things id like to improve - well a lot really - but two to start. 1. A defensive drill to get the lads aware of their positions not just ball watching, so they can see the whole game better and be more situationally aware of whole pitch not just where they of the ball are. Then second. one of our players just wont release the ball quick enough. Always holds on to try and beat man 2/3 etc. Tried for a while to get him to see how much better it is for team to move the ball to no avail. We have decent individual players I feel these little bits will improve out team. Thanks and kudos. Toon army. Stu
Loved the positive way he ran that drill.
I wish I had coaching like this at a young age. So great to see real coaching and effective drills🙌🏼
Thank you Josh 🙏

3 min in and I’m already getting more value out of what I give my 5 year olds. Love finding quality coaching content 💪🏾

So much that you can build off of this snippet
Lots of variations Jobby
Really like this. Will be doing it with my U11’s
To help the players keep their head up when turning you should tell them to use there sole of their feet. It automatically gives them that ability!
Coach of coaches
Like this a lot. Would progress a bit more and maybe add one more color and build to 3 colors on both ends as they get the hang of it.

excellent drill
Darren I appreciate you watching. 🙏
Great Drill
