I really like that you showed a lot of reps in this video. I try to teach my kids about the importance of consistency in higher level play. Gavin didn't score every goal but he was never far off.
@@training121 12 year olds. They're just getting to the point where they want to learn advanced techniques. I'm teaching them that it's not enough to know how to do any technique advanced or fundamental correctly, you have to train it properly until you can't do it wrong. Being able to show them a video with a pro doing a bunch of reps in difficult situations and still being close to perfect on every single one will help reinforce that point.
So this should make you understand that at the higher and higher levels.. it is about your football intelligence and how you use it to your advantage.. what are you exceptional at on the field. Figure that out then how can you implement that aspect more often into a game situation. The elite know and can do this. The lower down the leagues they cannot
Using the fence is such a smart idea , the ball will bounce off quiet well but it will also be umpredicatble just like any pass you could recieve in game some come fast some come slow some bounce
Technically, strength wise and even skill wise there wont be much difference between him and a premier league player. The difference comes in game intelligence and being able to perform at a high level in front of very large crowds. The same as guys beaten up top fighters in sparing, but when it comes to doing the same thing in front of 30,000 people, only a few can do that
I think it’ll be the speed that’s different. He’s obviously technically brilliant, but I think the prem players will be able to do the same actions but slightly faster
I think you can get him going even faster through the gap on the shooting drill maybe even after his initial touch to open it up one touch and a burst of pace
@training121 oh wow...that is a great idea and love that passion. I remind myself that what I learnt from the coaches educator "do not make an excuse, find the way. Thank you for letting me know

hey im a tall and quite skinny guy. im quite fast but I play cm, do you think I should bulk up and train weights at the gym. just looking for some help.

With these sessions it’ll always vary - depends on his energy levels, type of session, loading requirements (in-season/off-season etc.) But generally, you’re looking at 20ish seconds between each strike in a set and then with the round-up of footballs and any coaching points in between, there’s about a 2-3 min break between each set.
i always hated training drills like these being given a bunch of instructions to remember, turn this way, pass over there, run over here, receive it on the half turn, take it round the cone, take one touch, and pretend you have to get your shot off quickly when there is no jeopardy.
I agree. I don't think these drills transfer well to real match situations. I have met people that looked insane at these solo drills yet they were average at best during matches. Same applies on the other end of the spectrum, people that were simply good at these drills, but damn, during matches they were so good.
The fact u can’t break it down and actually understand shows u never played at a high level all the best players in the world have done sessions like these
@@thatkidibrah9132 of course they have but then Messi grew up playing on street with his brothers and friends and this was more formative than training drills in making him the goat.
@ your slow ofc he played in the streets but once he got to the academy he had to actually start training u can go to TH-cam and see the drills he’s done he’s improved and got better through the sessions he had muscle memory but training and actually working hard is what got him where he is playing in the street was just a start not the complete process have u ever played at a high level 😭🤦♂️ just go search up Messi zig zag drill it’s gonna show him working with his trainer
@@thatkidibrah9132 and personally it just sucks the joy out of football for me. If I want to practice something then I can practice it. I can kick a ball against a wall. I just personally hated these drills where I'm waiting in line for my turn to sprint to a cone and then do a one-two and get a shot off. I never felt I developed doing these. I got good by playing every day before school, during and after. I don't think coaching sessions ever improved me as a player so much as having a kick about with friends. Helped that my friend was a neighbour willing to go in goal and I could just practice shooting for hours. But you're right I never played at a high level.. I did play in the same team as some players that went pro though.

The competition at the top is so marginal

Absolutely correct! In 1on1’s you’ve got to use as much as you can to create practices applicable to the player 🤝
I felt pain every time the ball hit the fence. That’s how much I love good quality balls.😂
