- Solitarius reviews the story-driven, boss-battling, tabletop RPG-lite game Oathsworn: Into the Deepwood (Standee Version). He discusses his experience of exploring the Deepwood for 20 hours or so. Usually Solitarius isn't really into campaign games or tactic boss-battlers. Will Oathsworn win him over?

You have some very good points here, but why does at 13:40 the music suddenly kicks in ? :)
I finally beat it. This game is on masterpiece level. The story was phenomenal. Game play is among the best. The worst part of this game for me was wandering through the Deep wood. But I liked it any way
Dude, I traded Aeon Trespass Odyssey for this. The micromanagement from ATO was giving me an aneurysm. And as the cycles went on it got progressively worse. Cycles 4 and 5 (expansion) coming soon to me are being sold as soon as they get here. So yeah, Oathsworn was a soothing balm for the wounds ATO inflicted. And solo all the way for both games I mentioned.
I love this game solo and prefer it over multi. I tried at 4P and it felt like a slog. I think a big part of why I enjoy it is because of the awesome minis that I am having a blast painting each encounter.
I definitely can see someone who paints minis loving this game!
I played this game with my brother with each controlling 2 full characters. I don't imagine playing with companions as the position of your characters plays a vital role during the encounter and just having 2 actions really miss the point.
Living next door to a dance club is so annoying.

Great video and editing!! I love the lighting and your background. I Really wanted Oathsworn so badly. But I decided against it as it was a bit dark for my daughters. But would still love to play at some point! Great stuff!
i’m not sure what you were trying to get out of this game because 1000 other people say the story is a masterpiece with great tactical decisions. It’s a little confused here. Sounds like it’s a personal preference.. it almost sounds like this isn’t your game style because you described the game what’s expected from it?
I was trying to get a new gaming experience, and decided to dive in due to the overwhelming positive hype. I think that hype is mostly deserved too. It is a very lovingly and skillfully crafted game. I made the video to add a dissenting voice--not to stir up controversy or bash a popular board game, but to give people unfamiliar with the game or the genre all the information as honestly as I could. I'm not a reader of dark fantasy or a consumer of that content generally (though I do enjoy Lovecraft/mythos stuff), so I found the story to be a bore. And you are right, it is very much about personal preference. Gaming is about having fun, and fun is always subjective. I do not fault others for loving this game; if anything, I am a bit jealous that I could not find the same spark of enjoyment that they could.
Synopsis: "This game didn't make me miserable, so I hate it" Seriously? Complaining a whole bunch about how the designers worked hard to make the game fun...dude, go play some Catan so you can have the miserygasm you're craving.
