I own a 2022 Tahoe as well as a 2022 Toyota. Under the category of design mistakes. 1) Unlike Toyota, you have to turn off the Daytime Running Lights on every engine start. Two government studies have shown NO safety benefit to daytime running lights. They're really nothing more than a MPG lowering decoration. That's why General Motors disconnects them when doing government mileage tests. Toyota has "DRL off" right on the light switch. 2) Unlike Toyota, No factory navigation system. You have to use Apple CarPlay and be dependent on a cellular connection for navigating. If the connection gets weak or you're in a location with no cell service, there goes your navigation. (If you're clever, you can download small portions of Google maps for off-line use.) 3) Unlike Toyota, Tahoe has the universally despised engine start-stop technology. I know that overrides are readily available, but many people don't know how to install them. 4) If you leave the vehicle in Accessory Mode the radio will go dead after only 20 minutes. Not good for drive-in movies (there are over 400 in America) or other situations where you want to listen to the radio with the engine off. The battery could easily power this for 2 or 3 hours. You can't change this setting. Personal preference: I hated the giant sunroof. I custom ordered my Tahoe with no sunroof. Also, I recommend you order the second row as a bench seat, NOT captains chairs. With captains chairs you have a big hole in the cargo area when you fold all the seats down. Overall, I do like the Tahoe. It's just that it could've been a better vehicle. I like the push-button gear shift. Informative video. Thank you for doing it.
The lack of a column shifter is what I'm saddened by the most, buttons just don't feel as enjoyable to use as a big old shift lever especially when trying to quickly maneuver.
I still listen to CD's in my 2018 Yukon XL Denali. The quality on a CD is much higher than the USB/Bluetooth options. Though, convenience is slowly starting to get to me, I find myself using Pandora often.

Actually they get worse gas mileage. My 1962 convertible Pontiac tempest lemans got 26 mpg. Even my 1989 5.0 liter mustang got 26 mpg. Now your lucky to get 20-22 mpg.
And I just confirmed with hubby, my 1994 Ford F-350 dually crew cab desiel got 20 mpg not pulling, and 23 mpg pulling a four horse loaded with three kids and all their gear thru Kentucky hills. Yes better!! And that was every trip for ten years and 250,000 miles. We were disappointed after getting a new 2004 truck and the best we could get was 14mpg desiel not pulling (empty). 10-12 mpg pulling.
Bought one for the wife a couple weeks ago. High Country Black w brown leather. It’s great. Perfect size. Definitely a bit pricey but offers more than others in its class.

I took that offer to the local dealer who wanted my truck. They raised the offer but still not enough for me to sell it. Then I remembered you saying that Carvana was overpaying for cars. Their offer was 3k more than TrueCar and $1500 more than the local dealer. Carvana process was great. Hardest part of the process was getting a dealer payoff out of GM Financial. I would go for a yukon because fog lights are a big help in selling a vehicle to me. I like them and like the look of them plus they help alot in fog / snow ❄ etc. Anything that might be in the roadway they help.
Might have missed it, but there's no button to turn on all of the interior lights....you have to open the door. Definitely miss the fog/driving lights, I'm going to add them to my new suburban. That extra wide and low light is very useful.
The rear seat entertainment system is actually a good idea because you can hook up iPads and other mobile devices to them. Keeps the kids from arching their backs and looking down at their phones because they can just sit back and look forward at the screen
That’s stupid that they didn’t add the fog lights. It wasn’t needed but it was the look u get with the fog lights n parking lights that made it nice too have. They always find a way to mess something up. The Yukon and Escalade has them.
GM has been doing that with a lot of vehicles lately. The GMC variants look a lot better in my opinion, but I’m a Chevy guy at heart so it’s disheartening to see the new designs be so underwhelming.
yeah they don't typically do mid-cycle refreshes on the tahoe/suburban, the last model only ran for 5 years and was just replaced with this one. I think the front end improved, the rear end looks like a 2005 equinox :( however I think the new Yukon has this beat by a long shot, and escalade even further.
They deleted the fog lights! I use those lots of times especially after dark in the fall!!! The headlights in the 2016 Silverado were inadequate and had to be replaced with aftermarket immediately for country driving and still needed the fog lights also on so that it was safe to do country gravel road driving at night without ending up in a ditch. You got to be able to see the edges of the road and be bright enough to see the deer crossing the road ahead.
Just got a 21 Suburban High country and the rear entertainment gets taken to a new level when you buy a Google Chromecast and pay the $20 for unlimited data hotspot for trips. Being able to watch live TV/ sports and any movie on the rear seats is incredible
2006 Suburban, Tahoe, Avalanche and Silverado had the last CD/cassette combination player. I got a feeling that GM will place the column shifter back on the Tahoe PPV because that what police departments want.
Going into park with e brake on is a terrible idea. Not a leo but fire does this often actually. It's not uncommon at all to hope in with door open and move a vehicle with door open.
Fog lights or a must for bad weather visibility, and when you get rid of the solid axle you lower your towing capabilities. And having a family and being able to tow a camper is a must for some.
Yes bring the fog lights back Chevy! I’m wondering if you can add the Silverado fog lights to the suburban/Tahoe? I’m ordering a suburban RST in 2022 so I’m hoping for two upgrades, The 6.2 which is not offered in the 2021 RST and fog lights. Fingers crossed.
I pray that they bring back the power pedals. My family with our height used them. I hope they bring back the fog lights. Our area (WA State) sees fog. Also at night if it’s dark and rainy it really helps with also using the regular lights.
In my personal preference on the losing of the gear stick in most new cars more Electronics it can go bad so more warranty recalls see if anything goes bad
The name of the game is money by deleting the cd player. Makes you pay for data from phone company or depend on internet to listen to music. You can buy an after market cd player that plugs into the usb and act just like it would if bought that way.
Good stuff man. Question, is the high country the only model that offers the air suspension on the tahoe/suburban?? Is it an option on a Lt, premier or even the z71?
Great video. Found this after buying a beautiful pre-owned 2021 Premiere. Only grip I have is that auto-stop function. The most ridiculous feature Chevy could have added.
The overuse of electronics is going to really affect the long term ownership of these vehicles. How long before replacement modules are discontinued? There should be a.ppace for a physical key, and backup mechanical door unlocked and roll windows.
I’ve got power adjustable pedals in my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ Z71 5.3L And GM deleting the fog lights off the Tahoe and Suburban, I do not like at all. I love the fog lights on my truck, I think they need to put them back and leave them there!
The shifter does the same thing if you turn the engine off while it’s in drive. Itll automatically put it in park. My 2018 terrain has the same shift mechanism and I hardly ever physically put it in park.
Just wait until those electronics break down over time. As far as fog/driving lights, I'm sure aftermarket will solve that issue. I wonder how long that LCD panel will last.
Push button shifters were available in the 60’s Some Mopar products I believe. For modern technology the push button started around the 2013 MY Lincoln MKZ. I think other manufacturers waited to see how the MKZ went first before committing to the technology. I do like the fairly clutter free center console. Switches, buttons and knobs on the overhead console and instrument panel. Reduces the risk of accidentally hitting the button or in my case my dog.
The last car to have a tape deck. 2011 Ford CVPI (Crown Victoria). The LX and Mercury Grand Marquis had a Tape/CD combo and optional changer. I have a 2011 P7B and she has the AM/FM/Cassette.
the rear axel setup looks pretty similar whats in my 08 Cadillac STS. guess they wanted the Tahoe to behave more like a sedan than a truck. i can tell you with good winter tires or good all season tries(like i have on my cadillac) the limited slip setup works well i havent got stuck in the snow and i live in rurall town where the roads are not always plowed that well.
I have the YukonXL. One thing I really miss from my 2016 Yukon is the bush button to child lock the rear doors. I have to get out, open their door and flip the switch on each door. Not a huge deal, but I have big and small kids and don’t always remember when loading to flip the switch when it is needed. I was spoiled!
Hi! Looking at getting a 2021 Tahoe LS or Yukon SLE diesel - I will have 4 kids in car seats, you wouldn't happen to know if the 60 part of the 60/40 bench can be removed? Looked everywhere but all I could find is how to fold the seats for 3rd row access.
I listen to CD’s daily too. There’s a damned good reason why they’re still being produced and sold in stores. Streamed music cuts out a lot of the original recording in the sake of saving down load time. And CD’s are still, by far, the safest media to store your collection of music on.
Personally I decided not to buy another Ram 1500 for myself, not to buy another new Ford Edge or Lincoln MKX/Nautilus for my wife due to the idiotic idea of replacing the console & column shifters with push buttons or dials. Just because we have the technological capability to do something doesn't mean we ought to do it. Especially when companies use the opportunity to cost cut by making the new tech out of a combined total of $0.75 of molded plastic & cheap printed circuit boards.

Quoted from Motor Trend's website: "A new mechanical limited-slip device supplied by American Axle operates with clutch packs designed with a certain preload that lock up above a certain left-right wheel-speed differential. The previous Eaton G80 differential behaved like an open diff until one wheel began spinning, which then locked the axle. Do the head rest pop out? What about reverse and you open door? Hope with those electric door looks what happened if battery dies and your only on road?
They also removed the blinkers in the mirrors on the SUBs and trucks, which is quite a let down. Also a mystery is to the lights on the front of the mirrors that don’t work while moving...what is the purpose for them? Not sure if these lights are in the Tahoe mirrors.
Dang haha cool. Hmm idk about the last cassette, but in my very reliable 2004 Silverado has a cassette and CD player. CD player doesn't work but I do still use and try to collect cassettes. Love listening to the Beatles Abbey Road
It’s amazing that the quality has gone down, while the price went up because they wanted more computerized garbage. All of these car companies want to end the shade-tree mechanic.
Fog lights are a waste, It rarely gets foggy enough to use them and NOBODY knows how to turn them off. The newer lights that come on vehicles are plenty enough illumination to see on back, rural roads, or roads without street lights.
Two things I'll miss the most are the hidden coded storage compartment and USB port behind the radio, and the old column shifter for the transmission. Yes, I know the column shifter made the Tahoe feel a bit "Truckish", but I absolutely DESPISE pushbutton shifters, especially GM's. I'm REALLY excited to see how the new Jeep Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer stands up against the Suburban/Tahoe. I've always liked GM's fullsize SUV's, but I wonder how the new Jeeps will stand out in the market as well.
Last truck to have a tape player is the 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 & the Chevy Silverado 1500 and please mention this feature to GM to do next year and that is to put the Cadillac Escalade shifter in the top trims for both gmc and Chevy thx @chevydude
Very functional feature they deleted is the glasses compartment in the roof. It used to have a mirror to see the 2nd and 3rd row. Another thing they missed in this and last generation in the light in the glovebox!!! It's a pain to look for something there at night
I'm a GM guy for life. The thin the royally pissed me off! When the new Silverado s came out a few years now! GM killed the traditional comfort tilt, tilt wheel! Their cheap end out and went to a common, parts bin adjustable steering column, with no real tilt! The new Tahoe/Sub. Did the same. I believe the only vehicle in gm's full line up that still has traditional tilt wheel. The full size vans!
I am sorry to say I am not a fan of the update. I will be keeping my 2015 Tahoe LTZ and if something happened to it I would replace it with a 2015-2020 Tahoe.
Chevy Dude when things settle down and its a bit safer I will make an appointment for a test drive. I am just very happy with my 15LTZ. It does everything i need and want it to do.
Well one thing Chevy (GM also) deleted was QUALITY. I never owed a GM vehicle with so many issues, if I knew my 2015 Equinox had a booklet of problems, I would have never bought it. And it’s just not mine, it’s all of them, Most of the problems go back to 2010 and at 2015, 2017 the same issues still apply. I notice people who have brand new GM vehicles and have major issues.
On a fixed income and right now drive a 2003 GMC Yukon XL with over 310,000 on it. If I ever have a 2021 Tahoe it will not be before 2035 and I bet most of the electronic will not still be working on it

Loosing fog lights is a good thing. No more d bags having them on all the time for no reason at all. GM headlights are some of the worst on the road for other drivers so the less light a GM has, the better

@@Todd_S Here's a link to that AAM 2021 Tahoe / Suburban rear axle page:

@@davidpi5770 I did see that video. I want to know if there's a RPO code for the limited slip diff even if it is standard equipment.
I might be mistaken but I think the z71 still retains a locking differential for the 2021 model year.
The rear locker is a big damn deal!!! It freaking still snows here...
The funny part with the tv, u said to keep the kids quite on a long trip. Great video. But im gonna miss the key tho
do they still have the hands free tailgate? i didnt see it on the one at my local dealer
Yes and it’s so much better
Yes bring back the fog lights, dam chevy let’s hope the competition doesn’t put laser LED fog lights in theirs 🤦♂️
FYI the manual door unlock is by pulling the door handle once to unlock and a second time to open the door.
One feature I really liked on my sisters Yukon is the little extra "secret" space behind the infotainment screen😔
You mean the weed compartment?
Fog lights are a waste, It rarely gets foggy enough to use them and NOBODY knows how to turn them off. The newer lights that come on vehicles are plenty enough illumination to see on back, rural roads, or roads without street lights.
Where are the tow hooks? Gone! Live in ND, getting my HC this week and I see NO TOW HOOKS! Might regret this🥴🥴🥴
The push button transmission feature kind of takes me back to my mother's Desoto back in the late 50's/early 60s.....ha !
I remember dating my hubby in his 1960 Chrysler Windsor that had a chrome push button transmission
Biggest disappointment to me was the column shift, solid rear end and a little for the fogs.
Someone that lives on a lake in the Northeast fog lights are very important.
Did they remove the front license plate bracket or where do I get one from. My previous tahoes have had in vehicle and I just had to have it installed
Just wondering??all of these deleted options are they reflected in a reduced MSRP??
Bring back the rear power window, that was awesome back in the days
That shifter setup flat out sucks! Leave well enough alone already.
I just bought one. How do you turn on the blind spot feature??
I'm a GM guy for life. The thin the royally pissed me off! When the new Silverado s came out a few years now! GM killed the traditional comfort tilt, tilt wheel! Their cheap end out and went to a common, parts bin adjustable steering column, with no real tilt! The new Tahoe/Sub. Did the same. I believe the only vehicle in gm's full line up that still has traditional tilt wheel. The full size vans!
High Country sounds like a Colorado weed store.
I am sorry to say I am not a fan of the update. I will be keeping my 2015 Tahoe LTZ and if something happened to it I would replace it with a 2015-2020 Tahoe.
You should go drive one. You won’t like the ride of your 15 LTZ. The new mag ride 4 and the Independant suspension are amazing.
Chevy Dude when things settle down and its a bit safer I will make an appointment for a test drive. I am just very happy with my 15LTZ. It does everything i need and want it to do.
Yes absolutely. Anytime
hi Mike. nice vid. liked b4 watching b/c I knew it was going to be good
It's 2011 Ford Crown Victoria, isn't it?
I bet they add the fog lights back in a facelift in a year or 2. Big thing to not have as an option at all.
Does the 2021 tahoe still have cylinder deactivation???! Does it shut down to 4 cylinders?? I wasn't sure...
So with no physical lock how can you get in if you don't have a key fob (maybe you locked it in the truck etc) and the battery is dead?
love my GMC Yukon... i got fog lights ...how can i delete the seat belt chime?
