If you’re into very immersive and chillingly mysterious plus kinda spooky stories,I HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Edge of Sleep. The protagonist is voiced by Markiplier or Mark Fischbach, who has an amazing voice for voice acting. The basic gist of the story is suddenly most people are dead, and they find out it is because people are now dying once they fall asleep, and so the characters try to figure out what to do and it is amazingly told.

For sure Tanis. If you're interested in the black tapes then you'd love Tanis. It's from the same producers Pacific North West Stories. And Alex from the BTP is included. And her sidekick Nic Silver is the main character of the docudrama.

I have recently found audio drama podcasts ....i sand floors for a living - its a extremely loud! so i put ear muffs on and ...you can imagine thats pretty boring after a few hours of listening too this giant machine.....so a friend told me about podcasts.... i put my ear buds in under the ear muffs and of i go into another world....its been an absolute life saver... here are my top picks so far.
It has to be said that im onto apocalyptic / sifi / paranormal kinda stuff.
1 - The white vault - my number 1 ... research centre in norway goes dark - a team is sent out too investigate .... amazing ..no need to say more.
2 - The black tapes - after days of listening too this and working on my own ..to be honest - i started looking over my shoulder... its scary as shit....amazing.
3 - The Walk - English one ...originaly made to get people exercising - really great cast and sound effects and some great twists and turns.
4 - TANIS - same makers as the black tapes - this will keep you busy for weeks - a bit slow some times but still awesome.
5 - Immunities - slightly less proffesional on the sound effects ...but alien invasion ...body snatchers typos stuff ..what more could you want.
6 - LimeTown - really interesting.. 200 some thing people disopear at a research centre -.... right up my ally.
7 - steal the stars ....about a team investigating an alien called moss ..not gonna say any more - unfortunately quite short.
Just downloaded We're Alive so ..ill give you an update on that soon.
Also here is one i REALLY didnt get and didnt like - welcome to nightvale ....honestly dont know wtf thats about - not sure what kind of people enjoy it - what ever floats ya boat i guess.

So, firstly - fantastic recommendations! I've listened to all of those, except The Truth, and they're all brilliant!
As far as my own recommendations go:
Tanis - a sister-podcast to The Black Tapes, which follows TBT's producer, Nic, as he pairs up with a snarky hacker to track down a disappearing town, which has appeared in historical references in various places around the world since records began. Also Nic and Meerkatnip are so adorable and I ship them so much.
Wolf 359 - imagine what would happen if Welcome to Night Vale, and The Black Tapes, had a baby, and that baby was orbiting a distant star. Wolf 359 is the ship's log of a tiny (4-person) research space station in the near future. Protagonist Doug Eiffel, Communications Expert, spends the majority of the podcast attempting to avoid the menial chores assigned him, searching for a place where he can smoke without being caught by Commander Minkowski, and getting up to shenanigans with the hilarious, glitchy Ship's AI, Hera. Beyond the story, there are occasional "special episodes" where characters embark on spoken-word monologues that are usually incredibly heartfelt. Hera's in particular actually made me tear-up.
Knifepoint Horror - a podcast entirely dedicated to (fictional) ghost stories, which range in length from 8 or 9 minutes to over an hour. Each story is self-contained, but all of them are of incredibly high quality, and each story is narrated in a very professional manner. A few are really scary, but all are fascinating, and very original.
Anyway. If you only give one of the above a try, make it Wolf 359. Stick with it past the first few episodes, as the plot begins to develop beyond "Doug hides from Minkowski" and trust me on it.

If you like The Black Tapes, I think you might like Archive 81. It's about it guy who is hired to record audio tapes for I guess archival reasons. However something isn't right about these tapes, and what happens in the recordings, causes horrors to unfold as a result of these recordings.
    However, so do solutions.

I highly recommend The Magnus Archives (a spooky audio drama that also features spooky stories told by a skeptic, but over time the stories start to connect with each other and it's really cool)
And Red Valley (a really great audio drama about hyper sleep and human experimentation. The dialogue is very natural and really well written, and you get super attached to the characters really quick.)
    Thank you again;!

I share your enthusiasm for podcasts. For about the last 10 years I have listened to podcasts more than watching TV or movies. I happened to come across your video here because I am in the middle of "The Black Tapes." It had been so long since I listened to "The Truth" and "Limetown" that I had forgotten about how much I love audio dramas as well.
Have you ever heard of LA Theater Works? You can listen to some of their productions on their website, but unfortunately they don't release their shows in a podcast format. If you check them out, I think you'll like what they do.
I haven't gotten into "Lore" yet, but it's been recommended to me in the past. My problem is that when I find something I love, I never expect anything else to ever be as good. Like right now. I am loving every moment of "The Black Tapes." I know it will come to an end, and it will be sad to leave that world and go into a new one with a different series. But I know that something else will come along that I will end up loving as well. It always happens despite me not expecting it to.

I have a few recommendations that you may be interested in if you have not already heard of them. I will try not to list any that others have commented.
The Magnus Archives. A fun horror podcast. Even though each episode is its own story, they all slowly start to form a bigger picture.
Limetown. An investigation into what happened to 300 people that suddenly disappeared from a small town in Tennessee.
Rover Red. A girl living in a post-apocalyptic compound has her world suddenly turned upside-down. The compound has been destroyed, and her brother is missing. She now has to traverse a world that is foreign to her to find out why someone destroyed her home, and took her brother.

Thank you!! Ive listened to Black Tapes!! Ima give the others a listen!! The podcasts I listen to & i recommend it is “Angel Of Vine” it’s a Mystery Crime that was never solved for almost a decade & this retired investigator opens the case for himself. “Scared To Death Podcast” is scary short stories that may be true & the others are told from fans that had happened to them. “The Blackwood Bugman” is about 3 friends trying to start a podcast about this Urban legend that takes place in the woods near an old town with that hides many dark secrets. I listen to more but those are my favorites

Huge fan of audio dramas. I am currently listening to Ars Paradoxica, a story about a scientist who accidentally invents time travel, as well as The Bright Sessions. Bright Sessions is not too creepy but features compelling and impressive storytelling and acting. Limetown was haunting, and The Black Tapes gave me the creeps in the very best way. I also recommend SAYER, which takes place at some point in the near future on one of Earth's artificial moons, and the main narrator is an AI who speaks to and guides the residents who live there. At times it's chilling and other times absolutely terrifying. Those are my recommendations!

    • @SophieIslington

Three other podcats she didn't mention but I think are amazing are The two princes, the bright sessions, and Wolf 359
"The two princes" is about, well, two princes and their journey through romance and adventure. Not going to lie, imo it's a bit cringy but it's still really good. 8/10
"The bright sessions" is about a bunch of people with special abilities, called atypicals. I don't really know how else to explain it but it is told through recordings of therapy sessions and chats between characters, I'm in the middle of it right now it's really good. 10/10
"Wolf 359" is about a spaceship, the Hepahstis, and its crew as they learn new secrets and mysteries about why they were sent up to space and everything like that. This one is also really good, the first few episodes might be a bit uneventful but once you get to a certain point it becomes really good, it's the most action-packed out of this list. 10/10

Thank you so much for recommending The Truth. I started listening (oldest to newest) on pocket casts. It's absolutely incredible. I've laughed out loud multiple times in the last few hours while listening. "Total Transparency" is hilarious. I haven't gotten any of the creepy vibes you talked about. The first episode "Moon Graffiti" was kinda creepy I guess, but I got more of a hopeful desperation type of vibe from it. Everything else has been simply funny

I know this is old, but I really like the podcast "Small Town Horror."
It's a very well-produced Podcast about a man who returns to his hometown to get some closure about a supernatural event that drove him out of the town in the first place. It's a continuing mystery spread over 3 seasons and it was surprisingly gripping. I downloaded four episodes for a camping trip and burned through them before I reached the campsite. The wait to get internet back and download more was unbearable! Lol. It's been a long time since I listen to it (as it was the first podcast I ever listened to), but the fact I can still remember it is a huge testament to how well made it is!

Normally I'm very SM shy and would never sign in or let the Googlesphere know what I'm looking at but I had to make an exception with you to comment on your recommendations (and to subscribe). Thank you sooo much, I'm going to check them out on Spotify and I've passed them on to my son as he's an avid horror fan (the last two). Good luck with your videos and may you have many more x

That makes sense. I had assumed it was to show that the show exists beyond this one item of news, to give it some sense of immersion. Seems odd not to use the standard S1E1 however.

I know this is an older video. But, would it be rude to recommend my own podcast? It's an audio book in podcast form. I've just uploaded it on YT and it's available on all podcatchers. If it's not done to try and promote it this way, I'll delete this comment, no worries. It's just so difficult to get the word out about it and find listeners.

    • @karin64
      @karin64 4 ปีที่แล้ว

For me nothing comes close to We're Alive so far, except Lockdown. Right now I'm listening to Tracks and it's good so far, but I don't know how it ends. It's always the ending that ruins a seemingly good drama podcast, and that's one of the things that made We're Alive and Lockdown so good. Homecoming was pretty good. I can recommend that one for sure.

I love nightvale, tanis and black tapes. But they only post every once in a while. So I've been looking for some new ones I found Criminal, Unsolved Murders: True Crimes, No Sleep. Granted I had to stop listening to No sleep cause I just couldn't sleep too creepy but the story telling was excellent. Unsolved Murders reminds me of old school radio dramas or radio plays where they actually act out the murders rather then just tell you about them.

    • @SophieIslington
      @SophieIslington  8 ปีที่แล้ว

No Sleep is great but it's name is accurate. I can't sleep listening to it either. True Murder is a good one too, though the audio quality takes some getting used to.
