While it’s hard to accept that urbanspook went down this path considering how much potential it had, I just can’t defend any of it anymore. The creator is completely unapologetic about using nothing but shock horror. And the creator also selling merchandise of cory as well as Cory being named after what I believe is a real person is nothing but appalling to me paired along with even the mere concept of the victim. I really just can’t feel anything but distain for urbanspook now.

Yeah. I used to like UrbanSpook I started to question him after the Corey episode… but then the Pigs video came out… and I was done… I couldn’t anymore.
I get where you're coming from and the merch thing is inexcusable and the creator is weird, but this type of stuff have been going on for so long. As a reactor I can understand why you wouldn't want to show this to your audience but as a viewer to go out and watch this yourself should not be condemned because real shock content has been covered before for decades but no one calls it bad even though those real videos are scaring to an audience. As a fan of analog horror I should be able to watch it bc it fits under that genre, the story is fucking garbage and the kills are extreme but it barely pushes the boundaries of what should be talked or watched on the internet. As a content creator or survivor of SA/CSA then not watching it is understandable why you don't wanna watch it. As bad as the creator is I believe in "separating art from artist", ofc their are limitations to that but the urbanspook creator even though may be some edgy scumbag isn't bad compared to my limitations.
The first episode seemed like it had potential but it quickly became clear that there is no greater narrative to the story and the creator is just an edge lord trying to come up with the most disgusting things possible to shock people rather than do anything interesting.

I think what makes it scary is the fact that there is no greater narrative. Just two completely disturbed, horrible, disgusting people committing horrible crimes and violence upon people. You watch and wish they keep fucking up so they get caught.
Exactly, shock value can work well sometimes but you have to mix it with other things, you can’t just play like 30 jump scares in a row to make something scary-you need buildup and background behind it

It's more about it being really distasteful really. The last couple of uploads have been pure shock horror and nothing else, and only in the last video some semblace of narrative was pushed forward. I see Urbanspook the same way as the people that are making the Saw movies beyond the first one, one trick ponies incapable of anything else, so they can't only go more over the top with each installment, and when the first upload was already pushing it, just going even harder on the shock value just makes it disgusting.

thank you. the most recent video is even more disgusting, due to spook doubling down instead of listening to people. In his words, "it will probably get worse." Don't be sorry for being uncomfortable, as it's your right as a content creator and a human being. As a CSA victim it does mean a lot that you take into consideration that the use of it as a "plot" point was too far. It makes me feel comforted that not everyone is okay with this.

The issue with UrbanSpook is that he relies entirely on shock value and quite frankly it has grown very stale very quickly as a result.
Genuinely cannot see the series continuing for much longer because it’s just going to drop off a cliff in my opinion. On top of that, how UrbanSpook handles criticism is just awful.
If you no longer want to promote or talk about it, that is entirely your decision and we will still watch you regardless

It’s artistic expression against censorship and the little “court of public opinion” age we live in. You guys complained about the first couple episodes which really weren’t that bad. So he went even harder and I respect him for it. You can’t cancel someone who doesn’t give a shit and I love that someone is trolling people to the extent that he is.

If you are willing to support that knowing that, then that means you are okay with this type of stuff/find pleasure in it.
No successful Analog horror that I’ve seen requires CSA/CTP to be a hit. This is one of those scenarios when it is a fetish, not just shock value. He has also admitted to finding pleasure out of this stuff, and has made his brand solely around CSA/CTP.
Let me emphasize that he finds PLEASURE in CSA/CTP. He has admitted to thinking it’s ‘hot’. It is a fetish, he is a ‘proud’ Zoophile and regularly makes predatory comments about his own fanbase (mostly the minors). He is the Dream of the analog horror fanbase 😐

I've seen on how the creator acted on Twitter, he's an actual asshole, and uses these types of stuff(SA/r*p3) as shock value, he doesn't take criticisms well and tries to play the victim all the time, it wasn't the first time he threw a tantrum on Twitter like that one time you mentioned
Btw the guy is pushing on his 30's, and he tries to justify those terrible shock values on his series, i always compared his series to Piranha 3D bc it's literally the same thing, too much shock value and gore to the point that's not even scary anymore, just disturbing and uncomfortable

It's rather sad that urban went down the path of wanting to cause a "shock" response out of people by making things look more disgusting, (like cory). Cause the plot idea was intresting, random crimes that match paintings was unique, but they wen't down the route of "I'm gonna make people feel so disgusted and shocked by putting all this". While yes horror can be that, sometimes is a little too far (like example how some people dislike the "megan is missing" movie for some scenes that weren't neccesary to cause shock). And more if you add Urban attitude towards all this, instead of thinking twice of like "maybe i should leave this without a conclusion, or too detailed" they went the opposite way.
It was the series' goal in the first place, the shock and twisted crime scenes.
And Urban's probably annoyed because of the gatekeeping and annoying people online

I completely agree. Everyone has their own opinion but I don't think a series about murder and brutal SA is "deep". I do think some aspects are very creative, like the paintings or the way information is presented in a sort of CSI style, but all that weird stuff grosses me out.@@Kalitayy

I agree with most of these comments, at first I thought it was gonna be this super cool, super interesting analog horror about a serial killer but it’s just “whoops the killers killed more people” and “oh no this is a painting of the corpse you’ll find” like it’s more of the same
It’s not even that scary honestly it’s just safe for work gore at this point. Personally I’m not bothered by it (minus the cat one) but at some point you gotta make your horror series actually scary rather than “OOOO SPOOKY KILLER TORTURES SOMEBODY OOOOO”

I remember watching another video about some UrbanSPOOK controversy and it mentioned some old account of UrbanSPOOK from like before 2013 and it showed some animations that seem kinda predatory and concerning.
UrbanSPOOK is for those kids who think watching gore makes them cool, but too scared to watch real gore.

I'll admit, they're a good artist and I was a bit interested in the mystery of finding out who the killer was but the moment I put the connection together that Cory (the kid) and "f*cktoy Cory" were related, I just could not anymore, that's not shock horror that's just plain fucking disgusting.
Honestly Urban spook was one of the only analog horror series to just give me a bad vibe espically with its really violent and not at all subtle horror. I understand, respect, and very much agree with your decision to stop covering UrbanSpook.
My take on that is that it was the goal all along. I understand it's not for most people, do what you wish with your life.

I give my entire respect to you for this choice, it seemed really really grim for your content. You always had this bright feeling torwards your content regaurding ARG's. With UrbanSPOOK's content, it kind of is more of just, "Oh here is a disturbing image" then describing the most vile thing that comes to mind. There really isnt story there, just kind of "Oh well, this is a thing, and its still going" type of story. Dont get me wrong, I am sure UrbanSpook has made alot of good art, but there is such thing as "Criticism". i’m glad you’ve made the choice to stop covering UrbanSPOOK. it definitely feels less like a cohesive story and more of the creator’s way of ‘lets see how much incredibly messed up stuff i can put in one series without getting called out for it.’ i was very icked by it when it first came out and didn’t make much effort to watch it because of the disturbing content and overall weird behavior the creator has (especially with the merch and not having any limits to how messed up they can make it) so i completely understand and agree with not wanting to react to it anymore.

You're good, man. Don't worry about it. I actually just subscribed to you because I thought that the content you're reviewing and watching is amazing. I got hooked after the whole " Stone Cold" video.
Totally understandable, I couldn't even get myself to finish the new one. Like, i get it's realistic but seeing the whole thing with cory, ontop of the animal treatment in the series doesn't sit well. Totally respect your choice, Marcus! Such a shame such a nice starting series took such a road this way.
This is a very strong step to take and I applaud you for all of this - it personally took me a long while to click the connection of Cory and well.. the painting.
It made me feel disgusting knowing this was being flaunted around so carelessly in an analog horror - because those kinds of things do happen and just plopping it in so casually that there was a literal child victim can be extremely horrible for people who have gone under these things.
I was able to respect this series from the artistic perspective; and the dedication Slug has to push out so many pieces… but they really pushed it far past too far especially with Cory and the Pigs episode.
I hope you don’t feel pressured by those kinds of people in the comments to make more on this series because I and many others understand your discomfort and why you and many others which to distance yourself from the series, and creator.

I'd only seen Pastra's original tweet (wasn't expecting to see him mentioned here), but I guess UrbanSpook's reply was deleted by the time I did, and holy shit.
Honestly, if I knew nothing about the series, that alone would disgust me enough to never want to support any work he does. I cannot imagine replying to someone like that, and saying that to somebody, just over some criticism on something I did.
I'd already known of the controversy and the topics it covers, but it looks like the creator is as gross a person as his creations.
You have my (and many other's) full support over this decision, and I respect you more for it.

I watched a TH-camr that I liked reacted to this analog horror but they skipped the Cory part. Even without it, it disturbed me greatly… I love extreme horror but sometimes I have an overdose of it. I am happy to have found your channel because isn’t too much and is story and theory centred, please continue what you love! And thanks for your hard work!
When it comes to fiction horror, usually you should make your own kind of “monster” because accepting just how terrible a human can be is terrible. Just doubling down again and again on how bad we are as people eventually just becomes a shock value

It is totally understandable and no one can force you and if you feel uncomfortable making new vids on it then I fully respect that choice I really enjoyed the series but keep doing the things you feel comfortable doing and know that it is okay to drop the series there are many others you can cover insteed ❤

I’m very desensitized to violence in fiction, so the over-the-top stuff had the opposite effect on me than for most people, it didn’t shock me, I just thought it was really lame, but I *tolerated* it and liked the series for the paintings and the sorta mystery surrounding it, but when PIGS dropped and it was the same thing for the 6th time in a row with no plot development or anything, it got super boring for me. What a shame, the creator has some genuine talent with the paintings and music and it had much more potential.
Even if I didn’t find it shocking, as an analog horror fan, stuff like this must be criticized, while most people defending it say something like “It’s horror, if it scares you, it did its job”, if up-and-coming analog horror creators saw something like this without anyone criticizing it, they would learn the wrong lesson and perhaps also put very edgy stuff for the sake of shock value.

urbanspook only reminded me of other things I have encountered via research in the past. there are some f*cked up ppl doing f*cked up sh*t to children. it gets me terribly angry of their deeds n them getting away with it most of the time. this sh*t is real n watching those few videos stirred me up terribly. I am grateful you are no longer covering them. I stopped watching them some time ago myself. this is not entertainment n for the creator to use such accounts for money and such pisses me off further. it's f*cking horrendous.
What rather unsettles me (beyond the obvious) is that the murders of the family in 'Family' is similar to an unsolved quadruple homicide from 1987. The Dardeen family from Indiana were murdered in their home, with - and I am sorry for the imagery - the pregnant mother giving birth during the assault. The baby girl (posthumously named Casey) was also murdered.
I'm not saying that UrbanSpook has information about the case, given that it was 36 years ago. But I am saying that if they are taking inspiration from real murders, they are much worse than just a troll.

I'm genuinly happy someone agrees, the first time I tried watching a reaction video it was just foul. I'm pretty hard to faze with gore but somehow he made to where it was just bad, and I heard about the Cory incident and I new it was already gonna be bad and its even worse that he was selling shirts with cory on them. I'm happy you addressed this because its such an untouched topic.

Dont feel like you're forced to do like every analog horror, because I remember when I saw the series, and literally was appalled on how it was. Im so glad that someone actually cares on how very violent this arg is, and how it really doesnt have story, other than very violent and disgusting imagery. And Marcus, don't think that since your not covering on the video, it immediately makes you a bad person, because you really are not, and I know you want the best for you and the viewers. There’s a difference between a killer doing it for eerie demonic reasons and doing it because they’re sick in the head.
One works well for analogue horror, the other is just disturbing.

I agree with you completely for me I am to scared to watch analog horror so I watch reactions so it’s less scary but I just found your channel today and had been watching it. Anyways I watched this playlist at like 1-2 am maybe longer don’t know but I kid you not right now I am to scared to sleep and am actually shaking.
I think the creator was trying to put the viewers in the dark paranoid feeling that people felt at the time but I think there wasn’t any line the viewer could use to make a limit. The concept is very intriguing but I think it can’t be done without the viewer knowing what some of the killers rules are.
I think that with this type of horror it has to be balanced with good things atleast or lighter things because with how much paranoia and violence there is it is hard to handle

I never thought that someonr who covers vintage, spooky, stuff would be hesitant to review something like urbanSPOOK. either way it's your channel and your decision. I respect that.
I can only speak for myself, but I feel like the issue with urban spook compared to stuff like the Mandela Catalogue or Vita Carnis is that those series have a degree of separation from real life. Alternates and raw meat monsters aren't real, as far as I know, versus a sadistic serial killer painting his victims? Especially when they're children? It's too close to real life. It feels icky in the same way that the retelling of Dahmer's story does, though not as much because these aren't real people
@@joyjoyace I agree, when it's aliens or a fictional creature, that is not too disturbing, but when you make it something about people doing other sickening things to other people, especially kids, it's different.

As much as I'm interested in the series, there will be times where I just think that it's too far (such as CSA and the horse thing) and I understand what your saying and your mental health is very important. I wish you the best and I'm glad that you're being honest with it instead of draining your mental health for views. Also it's best that you don't watch the new episode. There was new plot points and still follows the story, but it's more brutal in my honest opinion. Keep up the good work my dude.

@@Faresito09 Sure thing. *HUGE Trigger warning for animal murder*, but a cat died in a very gross and horrific way in part of the episode. Even though it wasn’t shown, but there was a painting that hinted about what happened. Also it was extremely violent with two of the victims. One being skinned with sandpaper and the other being stabbed so many times to the point of being unrecognizable. There was also security camera footage of both of the killers entering a house.
It honestly made me almost quit due to me having cats of my own.

You help me keep up with these analog horrors and urban spook is interesting I guess to me but its alright I understand.
I'm going to continue with the series, as I want to believe that it's going somewhere, if at a snail's pace. And there are things to genuinely like about it - the music and ambient noise is absolutely chilling, and the artwork, grotesque as it is, shows a lot of work and talent behind it.
That said, I do understand why this series rubs people the wrong way. The whole "Cory" merchandise thing is just completely in bad taste, and the less said about the Twitter drama, the better. I don't blame you for wanting nothing to do with it anymore.

It had potential and I kinda liked it but after like the Cory, the farm, and the 911 call ep.. I was like, "yea no.. this dude is going too far..".. I hated the 911 call the most because you can actually hear the drill go into her head and I had to exit out of the video...

I didn't hate any of the scenes, I am all for extreme forms of horror because in the end that is what horror is supposed to do - make you feel fear, dread, discomfort, terror etc. For example, movies like A Quiet Place and IT both show kids getting killed or eaten in order to set the tone of the movie - that there are no limits, absolutely no one is safe here. There is indeed a place for extremes in the horror genre, but I do not support his series for the following reasons:
- All he does is gore. Extreme stuff is fine, but where is the story? Plot? Narrative? There is none of it, all it is is him pulling out the most disturbing things he can find and cramming it into a video. Hell, the REAL serial killers that he is taking inspiration from have more story material than anything he's trying to do. It's very poor quality work and as a horror 'creator', he should be ashamed that he puts out such things.
- His attitude on it. I don't see anyone talented behind his work, all I see is an attention-seeking, immature, untalented brat and you can really see that in his disgusting and tasteless merch...
Overall he is a nobody who is bringing shame to the horror genre, if you ask me he should do himself a favor and spare the horror genre with his amateur and crappy 'creations'
Tbh I like the series only because of some of the art (looking at f--ktoycory I hate you 😕) the story is .. ehhh.. and I do find some of the art pretty cool and scary. But ofc some spooky artwork can be very goofy at times (like the 2nd image on the latest one MEAT and the white long face in the barn in PIGS)

It's ok because when I was watching it seeing all those weird paintings for some reason my body would react negatively by spasms or they would hurt and it kinda would actually hurt me idk if I can ever watch it bc of that,but yea they were rlly disturbing
