The fact that Mr Adkins is in SO MANY martial arts films is a testament to his amazing ability... It's my hope that he gets his due as an actor before his career is done - with a starring role in a great film
I know its just a movie fight scene, but still: just the fact Scott has military boots on and Donnie slippers, would give Scott a HUGE advantage in this fight.
This is NOT true unless the boots are steel capped! They force you to strike with the foot instead on the shin bone! ie you can bend the ankle back. NOT to mention Donnie cheated! Eye pokes and geoin strikes are not legal
IP Man vs the US General was a real badass scene that fight choreography to show which fight sytle is the best was so good. Thanks for this amazing scene and Respect for this insane performances 💪👊👏🔥🤙❤️👑
The performance of these two actors are insane! Love it. However, as amusing and entertaining as it is, it has always put a little dent on the story when the protagonist get severely beaten, yet rises and suddenly become godlike, and everything he does, every move, hit or kick is both 100% accurate and bone breaking. It's just like the creators couldn't decide if this move was to reflect reality or some superhero comic.
@@railgap bro in this version, every character speaks the same language, but in the original geddes spoke english, and everyone else spoke their original languages.
From Ipman 1-3, he never had to use the third form of Wing Chun to defend himself. He was pretty close in many occasions, but managed to win without. The third form is used when your opponent is absolutely destroying you and you have trouble defending yourself. It's for emergencies. In this case, his one hand was injured, he's old, and fighting with cancer. The form is biu jee (darting fingers).
@@lizard5236 it's not so much as the most powerful form. All the fighting application is in the first two forms. The third form is when you'd screwed up or in this case, outclassed. Its more to get out of a bad situation. A reverse uno card. In the movies, there's no obvious way to showcase the third form, so they had to spear the guy, making it look like the most powerful form lolol.
That punch at 3:03 was the turning point of the match. And not even because of the physical damage it inflicted on Scott. But because it destroyed his confidence and put him in a hyper-emotional state. After that, it's really up to Donnie to just finish the job.

Awesome fight. Both martial artists are top-notch. I loved when Donnie Yen flicked his fingers across Adkins' left eye. People forget that you don't always need to employ maximum force to get results. The only bad part was not following up immediately with a power shot, but it worked out.
@@rick5787 No, but an eye flick followed by a hard strike is good strategy. This fight was about as non-real as you can get, except for minor parts. But that's normal for a kung-fu movie.

I watched it yesterday. This movie is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in its four parts. Every minute of it is beautiful. The star who embodied the character of the teacher, in short, is a creative artist. 🙏🏻🌹
Finally a Wing Chun fight scene that doesn't shy away from the eye gouges/strikes to throat, groin, knees, etc. Nothing is off limits, seems more legit to me when they are included.
When someone uses these kind of techniques, they are fully aware of it. That's why we should only resort to being that lame only for self defense. I believe this quality spectacle is an absolute display of the philosophy implied to this mindset.
The fun fact is that Ip Man in his prime, would have devastaded that S.O.B. I enjoyed all 4 of the movies, but the 1st one, is on my top 10 movies of all time.
It was a perfect end to the fight... That move Ip Man uses to finish off Adkins was teased at the end of the fight in the 1st movie against Miura... He had already beaten him but flexes the move on him before he falls down and never actally uses it... And then following that there's been a few times again where he shows it but never uses it (even against the karate master in this movie)..... But to see this ending take place to a fight where it's all he has left and finally uses it to finish him.... Destructive and Punishing it was... I thought it was amazing for that reason.

The fact that Mr Adkins is in SO MANY martial arts films is a testament to his amazing ability... It's my hope that he gets his due as an actor before his career is done - with a starring role in a great film
He's not in the raid yet
how about James bond ..
How about john wick 4.
I want james Gunn to have scott Atkins as batman in the new dcu
I agree he is amazing

Adkins got off easy. Ip Man didn't even get around to rolling his sleeves up.
In Ip's defense, the man was past his prime and dying of cancer.
When Ip Man roll up his sleeves it is like going Super Saiyan.
Well noted
Ya but he did resort to ball kicks that might be worse than the sleeves
@@npbeck89 one ball kick and we all know that's not why he won, ip man was the best
The most devastating martial move of all: the crotchu fu maneuver.
I know its just a movie fight scene, but still: just the fact Scott has military boots on and Donnie slippers, would give Scott a HUGE advantage in this fight.
@Abraham Brighton Yup. Wing chu blows are just not as powerful., made even worse by the fact Donnie is smaller. I’ve seen real life analyses of this.
no really they are heavier
This is NOT true unless the boots are steel capped! They force you to strike with the foot instead on the shin bone! ie you can bend the ankle back. NOT to mention Donnie cheated! Eye pokes and geoin strikes are not legal

IP Man vs the US General was a real badass scene that fight choreography to show which fight sytle is the best was so good. We saw both styles and IP Man gives him a Wung Chin lesson and destroys his reputation by far. It is also great to see Donnie Yen and Scott Adkins again in John Wick 4.
You must be new to the genre. @_@ Seriously.
But you're okay with the white Marine speaking fluent Mandarin. Sit down boy.
@@railgap "Sit down boy," they said unironically.

I feel worry when Donnie Yen getting old. He is legend in the history of Martial Arts. My favourite.
I love how in the finale he actually finished his combo, as in the first movie he didn't go for the finishing blow in the final fight.
@@Simon2k17 Yes, I always thought he used it as a last resort as it looks like it may have killed the other fighter.
@@Simon2k17 starting from which part?
@@thevegastan 3:22 when he started to break his hand. It was all or nothing after that. He went straight for his balls 🤣
2 MMA Kings fighting each other Scott Adkins and Donnie Yen we should be happy that we can see such great actors in action movies together 🤙❤️👑🔥
That punch at 3:03 was the turning point of the match.
And not even because of the physical damage it inflicted on Scott.
But because it destroyed his confidence and put him in a hyper-emotional state.
After that, it's really up to Donnie to just finish the job.
Thought the turning point is the low blow
Nah his character was suppose to win this fight especially with with that Spinning Side Kick, there's no way he should've absorbed that hit!
@@jeremybrown9611 funny enough if you pivot with the elbow you can take a spinning kick though you would need great timing and conditioning.
Yes you can say it was "emotional damage" indeed, after that we can totally see Scott's expression changed, he looks more defensive and less errogance
actually it was the kick in the balls
I just LOVE how Master Ip has become such a legend in the 2000s. I'm sure he and Bruce are smiling. God Bless Donnie Yen

Ever since "Iron Monkey" Donnie Yen has always been one of my favorite marital artists but up and coming Scott Adkins has come a long way fast & is instead of a stunt man now the lead man in his movies. Just saw "Legacy of Lies" starring Adkins on Netflix & it was excellent!
Still got nothing on Lee
Don't be crapping on Lee's Legacy

Epic! Scott Adkins and Donnie Yen fight scene. I'm a fan of both.
Craziest part of the fight was getting flipped over and Donnie with that “SIT THE FUCK DOWN” Kick to the back !!!! Insane emotion in that moment.
Absolutely brilliantly choreographed
It had its moments. But it was pretty weak to me.
@@sauce8277 Jesus look at these Hollywood directors 🤡
Donnie yens use of biu ji during this choreography is absolutely stunning to watch and shows the accuracy of the deadly third form. 😍 finally get to see the true meaning of "darting fingers"
There is nothing deadly about Wing Chun.
@Adam Plentl you've never practiced then and actually seen a professional. Until you've seen the likes of Sifu Suki Gosal or sifu Wayne belonoha then don't speak as though you know an art form that takes a life time to learn. Love watching Donnie Yens fighting style. It just looks so effortless and majestic.
The style Scott Adkins uses here does however speak more to me, since it looks and functions a lot like my own style, taekwondo.
They are both still awsome in thair own right.
The mighty low blow. The secret wing chun technique that is said to be able to turn the tide of any battle to your favor.

I wish that Scott Atkins becomes a James Bond's villain's henchman in a future film. We need to see this man more on the big screen.

Awesome fight. Both martial artists are top-notch. I loved when Donnie Yen flicked his fingers across Adkins' left eye. People forget that you don't always need to employ maximum force to get results. The only bad part was not following up immediately with a power shot, but it worked out.
and scot could crack him down when he was lying on the ground with stomp on the head xD
Haha. Youre talking like this was real.
Yup, only 8 pound of pressure to right a person’s ear off.
@@rick5787 No, but an eye flick followed by a hard strike is good strategy. This fight was about as non-real as you can get, except for minor parts. But that's normal for a kung-fu movie.
@@mrdude88 Awesome! It's been years since I've heard anyone cite that fact. I think it's "foot pounds", though I'll admit I don't even know what that means. But in any case, ears come off pretty easily.
Ip Man was fighting to survive
When someone uses these kind of techniques, they are fully aware of it. That's why we should only resort to being that lame only for self defense. I believe this quality spectacle is an absolute display of the philosophy implied to this mindset.
