I have had two commercial embroidery machines, 12 & 15 needle (still have my 15 needle)...I will tell you that no matter what you know about your smaller machines, this machine will have a learning curve. Practice is key...read through the manual first & find where to do the auto stop between thread color changes (different on most machines). you need a screen!

You are going to learn a lot using the DS software, and the EMT 16X is the new model. So, getting in love with this machine is by default. Because I do love my Amaya XTS machine (older model). Awesome, that's the dream machine! Some acquaintances of mine have 2 of them in their shop in Saginaw, MI. After they got them, they were banging out so much product! They even had a hat order from Niantic ( the company that made Pokemon Go) of several thousands pieces! I'm a week or so, away, from purchasing my first, above-entry level machine...I don't think I could justify getting this one though lol.
In my own opinion lol Melco is a better and more reliable company than Ricoma. Melco Machines are made in the USA and are even used by Nike, Disney, New Balance Etc. They are very fast (1500spm) and very reliable machines! This one is the commercial machine. They also do videos like Ricoma on youtube to help you! They also have great customer service as well and support!

I have 40 years of sewing under me but never did any embroidery I have Viking huskylock 905 and a Husqvarna Viking Scandinavia 400 sewing machine that has an embroidery attachment but the technology is super outdated I’m sure. I’ve never used it Duh out all the embroidery stuff the other day and the hoop is only Like a 4” x 6” hope so it’s not really big enough for much of anything
Pins don't work so well for tulle your best getting yourself wonder clips made for quilting. Will be so much easier for you to hold the layers together while sewing saves you holding by hand till it gets easier x
