I thought I was losing my mind seeing how ultra seriously everyone was getting into NaNoWriMo and it disheartened me a bit. I’m glad to know there are other chaotic creators out there.

I’m working full time while doing NaNo this year, so I’m really hoping to use days off as ‘buffer’ days and write extra. Still wanna try and write the daily goals, but writing extra will definitely help.
My project is a solarpunk mystery romance!

You took so much pressure off of me and made me feel like it was okay to not be traditional in my approach, as long as the project gets done. Thank you so much❤

needed to hear #2 and love #4 -- i chose my worst idea for nano so that I don't feel so much pressure lol. As for #2, needed to hear it. everyone says to set up the perfect inspirational space to write, but my most consistently available time to write is at work at my bleak and boring desk lol. I won't be able to turn the lights off, light a candle, put pictures up... oh well.

and so many others are in the same boat! Having a beautiful workspace can be such a privilege, but you don't need one to write wonderful stories :)

This was so encouraging to watch. Second day of Nano was pretty discouraging due to other stuff but this helped a ton.

Great video! I'm not an organized writer - my outline is a basic bullet point list of what I want to happen in the book, and I definitely write out of order.

You had me at four beers deep! 😂I’m so grateful to have found this video. It is so nice to know that there are other nano rebels out here. I was feeling some pressure to fit into the square box. Thank you! You have a new subscriber!🥳

Enjoyed this! Thanks for the encouragement to those of us who don't naturally think and outline and write in linear ways.

Thank you for these tips, they are extremely helpful! 🙂 I have a rebel goal this year but I hope to win again, this will be my third win for Nano and I'm so pumped! Happy writing all!

I definitely resonate with this perspective 🧡 thank you for your grounding words and reminders to let things flow and not get so hung up on the technicalities. I’m going into November with a lot of curiosity about my writing and trying to keep the parameters light 🧡

*blinks* There's people who are realizing the freedom that is the chaos finally. xD Joking aside I started to be a rebel for Nano since 2021. I go by pages instead of word count and only put it the word count to update buddies of my progress and I throw out the 50,000 word goal and put in a measly 15,000 and this year I decided to cut it down to 10,000 as I don't think I would have the energy to do a full 20 pages (or more) this year. However I want to work more on my first actual book but I'm also aware that this is the first draft so I just need to get the words out and edit a bit later so I'm not in the vicious cycle of editing for long hours while writing and second guessing myself. And while I'm going by chapter by chapter I have written a scene out of order before because of a prompt and had to figure out a bridge to connect the two scenes together.
And as someone who's been embracing the chaos as a whole, I will say that these are actually very valid methods to right and they do work if you can't have the focus to be "picture perfect" consistant for whatever reason. Rebeling is my personal bread and butter. I will also add though is that it's okay if you don't "win" Nanowrimo. If you don't get to your goal, it's not the end of the world. I actually only "won" it once and it was only because I used a program that I could look at my notes easily on Obsidian. But even then my goal isn't to "win" it, it's just to get words down. If I end up not getting to the words goal, that's fine. there is always next year but you can also just work on it between the years. Life happens, and sometimes it doesn't care that you have a project.

I'm unemployed currently, doing gigs here and there to pay the bills. Plenty of pressure already and being a chaotic writer, thanks for the tips. I think the only thing that bothers me is how lonely the writer process is, haven't found a community or anyone to talk to about it. 😅 I'm a pantser, but this year I'm trying a hybrid. I want to finish this thing.

LOL tip #2 happened to me last night. I was sitting at the bar with some wine and a spark of inspiration struck the night before nanowrimo started. I got the idea for a title and I'm loving the title!

My goal was just to keep my novel's concept simple, as I over think things a lot and worry about not having enough going on in the plot to fill a novel. But, now that I'm actually writing I'm coming across more details to add to the story that makes it feel more fleshed out, while still feeling natural. I've always been a 'pantser' (I prefer discovery writer), and it's moments like this that remind me why. Worrying less about what has to happen next according to an outline and more about what feels natural to happen next according to the current situation works best for me. Not for everyone, of course, but I ain't everyone. 💛

This was so helpful! I just found your channel and it reignited the writing spark but I didn’t have a story idea so I wasn’t going to do nano. I woke up after a really vivid dream that’s gonna be a perfect perfect story, but I didn’t even know where to start bc I’ve already missed a day and I
    Work full time. So thanks!

Total Nano rebel this year but I'm getting through the second draft of my novel. I'm at just under 60K words so 50K (mix of new and old) will bring me to 110K at least. I just hope it also brings me to the end... 🙃

Honestly, the writing space never worked for me. In fact, it did the opposite and really put me off within days and NaNoWriMo 2022 never got to see the light of day. Yes, when you write in the same place every time, you’ll get in that “writing mood”, but that’s not always a good feeling. I felt really stressed sitting in the seat, like I had this weight of expectations. Not mention, I refused to write else where, and it overall ruined the experience.
I still find myself avoiding my desk cause I get this sense of stress. Writing in different places is good for sparking imagination and changing things up. Man, I hate running the same route every single day. Why should I write in the same place? And maybe you still want consistency in your work space; I’ve also found finding the same 3-5 places that run with your daily schedule works great. You get the best of both worlds.
But yeah, same place writing never was it for me 😅

Excellent tips or maybe anti-tips? Regardless, well thought out and appropriate. I plowed through and hit my word goal to today. I need to hit my goal everyday to win, but inevitably I’ll stumble at some point and will have to plan to double up on a day’s writing. Still, I feel like I’ve got a strong start. I’m hitting a different genre than I usually do. Might be serendipity if the good feels persist. I’m a hybrid pantser/plotter. I always plan to ‘make a plan’ but the plan just becomes a pain -- and well here I am. Anyway, thanks for the advice. Good chaos video entry.😊

I find I write best in my car lol. Parked waiting for my son to get out of school. 😂😂 that's when I legit get the most words written. Every where else is 100-400 words but it's still words and I've learned rk embrace it when inspiration hits randomly.

For my story I am trying to write a paragraph a day that contains 5 sentences in it.
The official word count per day is not my forte

I'm continuing to write a project I started a couple months back with the goal of writing as much as I can , perhaps if I can do it 50,000 words this month on top of my 8,000 or so words I had when I started the month.
The basic plot of my story is:
Poor= cannon fodder for rich people's war
Dead bodies from war= turned into poor food
Is it traditional or the point of the 50,000 word challenge? no
is this month really about about getting people writing ?yes
Am I trying to write a longer, cohesive and finished piece? Yes
However you are writing this month whether a traditional NaNoWriMo or not I wish you the best of luck with your prodject.
