Thank you! I'm very new to machine embroidery and find your videos so clear and easy to follow. I've not tried any applique yet, but want to have a go. One question, several times you appeared to hold the right hand edge of your work down with some sort of pointer thing, but it was in a speeded up bit, is this to keep things smooth?
Hi Hilary I am pleased you enjoy my videos thank you for watching them. The plastic thing I use to hold my fabric, I dont know what it was used for or where it came from. I found a few of them in my garage. You could use a large tongue depressor stick they are available on Amzon, as they would do exactly the same thing, just as efficiently.
Hi, Kay! Great video, as usual! I have a question, though. If I want to put a water proof layer in it, would I place it on the back of the hoop? Or over the backing before it is sewn down? I am sure that might be a problem though. Because then I couldn't turn the coaster. How about putting it in after it is made, through the overlapped edges in the back? Would that work?
Thanks Virginia. You can put it on the back after the quilting. Then place the backing fabric on the front and that round of stitching will secure both in place. Another option you can add a removable waterproof insert through the envelope back once it is finished. Personally I don't add any as I find them thick enough for moisture not to soak through to the bottom even when glasses sweat.
Thank you going to do the Lilly one for easter
Good idea. Happy stitching Mary.
