    You missed one HUGE detail; we know exactly what Gomez's powers are due to the 1960s TV show. It was always super subtle (due to the special effects budget), but he DID have a power he regularly used on that show. Specifically he had a habit of popping cigars in his mouth, and they would light themselves for him. Now look at his brother Fester; in the old show he would put a lightbulb in his mouth, and it would turn on. This was later expanded to full on electrokinetic abilities, so it's natural to assume that, expanding Gomez in the same way, would result in pyrokinetic abilities. Fester is a lightning rod, and Gomez is a firestarter. This could even extend into Pugsley and explain his initial fondness for explosives; he knows he's likely on his way to having powers like his father. Basically, while the female Addams are psychics, the males are elementalists.

      Except in the old 1960s show, Fester was Morticia's uncle. It was only on the 1990s movies that Fester became Gomez's brother.

      Another explanation connecting the animated versions, the show in the 60's, the movies, and current Wednesday series is the power of Pyschokinesis. As shown in Wednesday not all the students have or will ever have 100% control of their powers. The Addams Family is a Family with a very volatile Psychic abilities strong enough to actually effect the laws of physics and control the elements. Some are just better at certain parts than others.

    I've heard it said on the internet that Gomez is something of a necromancer. It was suggested that he had resurrected not just Uncle Fester, based on Fester's corpse like appearance and Frankenstein-like relationship with lightning. But also Thing and Lurch. Remember Lurch was almost a zombie in the TV series. And Thing could've simply been one of Gomez's earliest attempts. I've not heard anything about Pugsley but the fact he's survived everything Wednesday has inflicted upon him I think he might have the indestructibility of a typical horror movie slasher like Jason for example, or Michael Myers.

    I think Gomez is a Leprechaun. He has luck on his side. It is never explained how their family is ultra rich without having any business. The Necromancy theory with Lurch and Thing, I think is more of Morticia ‘s doing than Gomez. Her name relates ro death, so it should be in her “realm”. For Pugsley, I think it is immortality or hyper-healing. Wednesday (in the movies) always seem try to find a way to kill him. It maybe because she is trying to check the extent of damage her brother’s body can handle so that she would know how/when to protect him.

    • @Goomsies
      @Goomsies ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Literally any time there's a supernatural character whose powers we can't explain, the first thing people go to is "super luck." I dont think that's the case here. I guess it could be, but I don't think so.

      @ace-_-1 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Goomsies
      @Goomsies ปีที่แล้ว

      @ace9919 The inability to fail is different than super luck. That distinction isn't huge, but it's there. It lies in the fact that he has to have the intent to accomplish a thing for the power to kick in. He's unlikely to win every single lottery without trying, for example. But if he needed to accomplish a task that required a lot of money and the lottery was the easiest way to get it, then it might work. But it seems more likely that he would find another, more roundabout way of accomplishing that task.
      It's a dangerous power to have, honestly. It's apparently impossible to turn it off, and it could be detrimental to the people around you. But this is all assuming that it's an actual thing, and not just a quirk written in off-handedly by the writer.

Even when things look bad everything works out in the end. Pugsley can't be hurt or killed. One other ability you could argue Gomez having to the ability to change probably, it has always been shown that he is amazingly lucky, sometimes even to his disadvantage. There was an episode back in the 90’s animated show I remember that Gomez was faced with that what ever he does or tries he succeeds at even if it was something he had never done or tried before so he set out to find one thing he could fail at and it wasn’t until ‘Tish showed him that his failure is that he fails to fail. My theory is that the Addams "power/curse" is being a weirdness magnet. Anything spooky or dangerous that's happening WILL happen to them, if not already then soon. So they constantly train from an early age to defend their lives at any moment, and escalate the lethality as well. As a result, they pick up skills more quickly and easily than the average person.
    They also seek out anything weird or macabre to understand it and catch anything going on before it becomes a bigger problem for them (hence Wednesday obsessively investigating the monster attacks). This helps explain their overall love for anything creepy and monstrous. They're also often skilled at witchcraft (though witchcraft is more a skill than a "power," as we see Laurel basically doing it).
    This is all pure evolution coming from their weirdness magnet trait over generations - any Addams who didn't obsess over survival skills and death all met horrific ends long ago (which their descendants proudly talk about).

    It'll be interesting to see what the netflix take on Gomez's power would be. In the 90's show: Pyrokinetic (he lights his cigar with a snap of his finger and on several times lights people's clothes and curtains on fire with too). Incredible luck (money and luck seems to be attracted to Gomez. He finds gold coins and suitcases full of money almost pops up in random places). Near indestructibility (Gomez loves playing with dangerous toys, especially his exploding trains)
    Pugsley, so far, only saw his near indestructibility in the CN show. Perhaps near indestructibility is a trait of all male Addams? Fester has it too.

Gomez is definitely his luck, in the original show he made a lot of money on Wall Street in ridiculous stocks that had no business succeeding but when he invested they became profitable. Also in the Addams family values the baby which took after him the most seemed to have inherited the incredible luck as no matter what danger the baby was put in things would domino into the best possible outcome for him.

    Pugsley is not invincible, he only has a strong body and a strong immune system in which he is immune to all poisons. If it's an online game, the simpliest explaination is that Pugsley is a Tanker or a tank. Opposite to wednesday where she is the one who inherited Goody Adams ability. In the comics, anyone who knew Goody Adams is feared, Lycans vamps undead. Goody Adams is the most powerful esper and Pugsley and Wednesday are her Direct descendents or bloodline

    This is a good question. I never thought of it. Now that I have, I think that Gomez and Pugsly are basically regeneratives, like Wolverine but not as cool and without the claws. In all the series and movies how many times have we seen Wednesday stick Pugsly in electric chairs, and guillotines. How many times has Pugsly set off explosions and not been harmed. How many times in the original series did Gomez go through rack sessions for his back that he actually enjoyed. You are probably thinking right now, "But in Wednesday we saw Gomez with a broken nose in the flashback from that when you was accused of murder.". Yes, but in Wednesday we also see that Wednesday shows REAL protective feelings for Pugsly and that she actually cares (in her way). I think that Gomez and Pugsly regenerative powers start small and grow as they are injured. That the more they are hurt the faster they heal. That would mean that all those times we see Wednesday putting Pugsly in torture devises was to increase the rate that he would heal. The more he is injured, the faster he heals. The more he is hurt the less pain he feels. That is what I think. How about you?

    I think their power that most the family has is a form of immortality but with aging. Think of all the mortal wounds they have sustained yet are fine soon after. This would explain a lot. The tolerance to pain would be caused by becoming desensitized from the many injuries they survive though out their lives.

    Not every outcast possess powers. Some goes to nevermore because of their famillies ideologies like the addams's for instance, who have a taste for macabre and the Frump's for morbidity. It could be argued that they have power, but I honestly believe that the Addams are one of the "normal" ones, having their members exhibiting rarely powers. However, it is mention that their familly always had a strong connection with sorcery and magic.

    Something tells me Gomez's power is something that balances out Morticia's dove. They are never really apart, and the INCREDIBLY RARE times they are Morticia seems to become slightly unstable in the mental department the longer the distance happens. Gomez also has a lot of charm-enough that most people around him it takes a while for them to be able to tell if his intentions are really a joke or not (until you're in the house, he's like a spider unwittingly inviting something for tea). Pugsley does have a power besides sadistic love of explosives and chainsaws-pain tolerance-seriously-an electric chair from Wednesday is "play" for him. Something tells me there's more than just visions and spirit manipulation to Wednesday-and her homicidal tendencies (sorry Enid, but your defensive statement is only true on those she's willing to trust). Also, are we sure Tyler isn't a counterbalance to her darkness? She did just stomp on his master's face. Xavier-he'd need to step up to match her darkness, Enid breaks through by being bubbly and Eugene just barely makes it.

    • @sarahsault6494
      @sarahsault6494 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, every Addams can drink straight poison. If ever someone tries to force her to "be good", hoo boy does manipulation dial up to the point that of a successful counterbalance happens-that'll be a sight to see.

    So, 1st off, in the original series, Pugsley was supposed to be the older sibling. He LOVES explosives and is fearless when it comes to animals, he's also supposed to be highly destructive and more than capable of turning a group of bullies into whimpering babies. So, the show TOTALLY got Pugsley wrong, other than him fishing with handgrenades. They got Gomez wrong too, John Aston played him as gleefully maniacal, having a love for toppling politicians and having a huge network of witch doctors and voodoo hougans, he's also supposed to be completely fearless. So, again, the Wednesday show got Gomez wrong as well, as he should have been overjoyed at being arrested and looking forward to being his own lawyer in court.

    You're forgetting about Uncle Fester, probably the most gifted of them all. While we all know he's able to generate electricity, he also has magnetic abilities. Uncle Fester also has a high tolerance to pain, as in old episodes he would take a lot of damage and simply walk it off. Seriously, he once caught a bullet with his mouth. In other instances he's caused explosions in a closed room, with him in it. In the new Wednesday show he claimed to drop in on Gomez from the ceiling, possibly implying his ability to also walk on walls? Or maybe the guy is just good at climbing. He's also known to infiltrate banks and steal valuables, so clearly he knows how to get around.
    Considering he's related to Gomez in the show (Once was related on Morticia's side but in most adaptations he's Gomez' brother. In this adaptation, I'm going to assume he's related to Gomez since he speaks about him like a brother.) is related to Uncle Fester, the two sharing abilities isn't far off. And if these abilities are anything like genetics, which have been proven already to carry on throughout the ancestry, Wednesday and Pugsley have definitely not fully awaked their powers.
    As someone who grew up reading and watching The Addams Family, I'm incredibly excited to see what a modernized version of the family brings!

  • @johnjones_1501
    @johnjones_1501 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's implied that Gomez and Pugsley have both either taken tremendous injuries that should have killed them, but barely did anything, or that they were somehow extremely lucky in dodging getting actually hurt. These events normally happen off camera. We have also seen Uncle Fester zapped with large amounts of electricity, and survive massive explosions that should have ripped him to shreds. I would say they all have a Deadpool like healing factor or just are generally immune to certain types of trauma.

    Gomez has heightened senses and reflexes. He has high pain tolerance and possibly a healing factor. He constantly fights with Fester (a human electrical battery) and Kitty (a friggin LION), plays with swords, knives, dynamite and other explosives. Though guileless, he might be a tactical genius...
    Pugsly is a nigh invulnerable masochist , he is constantly being tortured and plays with explosives and seems to enjoy when Wednesday tortures him.
    I believe all the Adams have heightened sensitivity and are attuned to the spirit world...

    I have seen all the Adams family shows throughout the years and what people said about invincibility makes a lot of sense to me. I also think they are a family of casters though not so powerful that gives someone like Doctor Stange or the Scarlet Witch a hard time. I think being clairvoyant as well runs in the family. As for the family's ability to cast curses and other spells you probably look through the use of using rituals not casting from thin air like Doctor Stange.

    In the original series and in the 90's animation - which recycled a lot of TOS stories - Gomez's power is extreme luck. Family Values may back this up.
    In TOS, Gomez always makes money on an investment, no matter how crazy of a scheme it is.
    In the 90's animated series, Gomez tries to fail and cannot. Morticia points out that he succeeded in failing to fail.
    In the 90's movies, Gomez got his lost brother back, a crazy series of events saves his family from execution, and those plotting against him are punished in spite of anything he did..
    Also, if you look at the different in Luis Guzman and Catherine Zeta-Jones, you can see he is very lucky.

  • @zrebbesh

    There were a number of 'running gags' about Gomez' powers in the 60's TV versions: Gomez was shown several times tucking a lit cigar into his vest pocket and, later in the day, pulling it out again still lit. He's also shown reality-warping powers with his model train layout and a bunch of his dead-but-not-quite-dead hunting trophies. He's got a tendency to acquire items that are magical - like about half the stuff in his house - whether he knows at the time that they're magical or not. Finally, magical curses don't seem to affect him, ever. This of course is all in addition to absolutely ridiculous physical speed (i recall him 'thumbing' through a date register at a speed that actually had his hand blurring), absolute perfection in physical skills such as fencing, absolute perfection in aiming and throwing, etc.
    Surprising though; he's not as physically strong as daughter Wednesday. When she was six (and portrayed by Lisa Loring) she demonstrated several times that she could lift him over her head and throw him across the room.
