Liked the video especially the length :) as someone who plays a lot of survival and watches a lot I think you should put more into endurance.. take it out of strength or something. Endurance effects how much hp you gain per level and is not retroactive, also life giver is just better then toughness plus you gain rank 3 super early and health regen is great. A point or two into toughness is nice though because it’s free head armor. Also dense and padded can be stacked making you almost invincible to explosions or get asbestos lining to protect you from pesky Molotovs
Thanks for the info. I have played hundreds of hours on survival and always tend to ignore crafting. I did this run to try and make myself do it more! I learned a lot and love comments teaching me lil bits and bobs like this one!
My biggest problem with Fo4 has always been settlement management, creating settlements that are big enough to handle large charisma builds but also keep people from constantly "pissing outside the litterbox" in anger so to speak. Let's face it Fo4 npc's are basically cats you feed, water and make sure they're entertained but otherwise leave alone lol. Still few things are more frustrating than leaving say deadmans ally for a week with 10 beds and coming home to 30 vagrants who've now decide they hate you so much they're not yours anymore. :p
OMG I totally agree! Especially because: 1. There's so many settlements that it becomes hard to manage at a certain point, and honestly hard to care when one settlement complains about their happiness but you have about 30 other ones to manage 2. In survival mode, you can't fast travel, so in a normal playthrough you could just pop back in and make them some extra beds, but in survival you have to make it a whole trip.
Gotta manage your beacons. Turn it off at any settlement after you have a few people until you can build them up properly. I typically max out all the other settlements, but Hangman I typically keep under 10 or 12. And never, ever make Hangman your trade hub. I made that mistake once and always had to deal with a half a dozen brahmin in those narrow entries.
I don't know if its a good idea, but you could theoretically could do something similiar with contraptiones dlc. I know its not the most popular dlc but i found it useful in survival, because you could craft ammo, weapons and armor without mods. Especially Crafting 10mm and 45 caliber. It also helped with equipping all settlers with combat rifles in the early game, where combat rifles are pretty rare.
regular base-game raiders, or do nuka world raiders count? because the nuka world raiders have some pretty good gear, like the disciple blade and handmade AK.
@@manboy4720 Both are considered raiders, so yeah. However I think its hard to get the nuka world stuff without glitches or bugs when its on survival mode.
Found your channel through your pipe weapon only run and I have to say you already produce some quality content. I would love to see you give a heavy weapons only run a try survival difficulty. At first I thought it would be a cake walk but it turned out to be a lot harder. If you want more of challenge you can exclude the minigun since it does make the early game a breeze.
After seeing you leave Sanctuary with a primo melee weapon (The Sledgehammer!!), I thought it was going to be smooth sailing. I run mostly Survival melee builds, and that weapon can carry you. But that’s where a starting SPECIAL makes all the difference. You were ages away from getting the Rooted/Blitz combo. While the combo isn’t necessary, a no-VATS melee build is likely Power Armor/Party Girl/Chemist. My overall philosophy is such: a Survival starting SPECIAL should have a strong combat focus, and leave other areas weak, to be filled in. Here’s what i would’ve tried for your challenge (S9P?E?C3I?A9L1: w/3 points TBD). I normally take Blacksmith first or second, anyway, with Blitz, Rooted, Lone Wanderer, and Armorer. I don’t like pure melee, so for this run, I left 3 points to be determined: depending if you went Demolition Expert or Gun Nut, and either Fertilizer or Lead is your scarce resource. Your melee is going to be very strong with this build, so I might go Demolition Expert for crafting the occasionally useful fragmentation grenades and mines. If you were to forego melee for guns, I works try a VATS build, instead of commando, to better manage ammunition usage. I might go with S4P9E1C3I3A7L1. This will give you Penetrator, and soon, Concentrated Fire and Speedy Reload. Personally, I would go melee/Explosives for this run. That way you’re always strong, and not deal with ammo.
1:12 "Number one! Install a mod that allows crafting armor, weapons, and ammo-" I mean....the Contraptions Workshop DLC already does that, but okay. :P Granted, you do need to spend your first three level ups getting the perks to let you craft all of those things...which requires you to find a way to level up once without killing anything, first...So it would definitely be an extra-challenging challenge run going that route. Still!
...actually, if this mod requires you to have both the gun nut perk and the blacksmith perk *just to craft a gun,* then the Contraptions Workshop DLC is actually a (slightly) faster and more efficient route. You just need gun nut to both make the crafting bench, and then use that crafting bench to make your first gun. If you then spend your second perk on the Science! perk, you can then make the ammunition plant and start making bullets for said gun. So, leveling up a second time will rely almost exclusively on gun bashing, but still.
Nice video. I have a few ideas. Not sure you've done these: • Headshots only (basically how I play the game every time, but I never _exclusively_ got ALL headshots). • Stealing/pickpocket only • Laser Musket only (surprisingly good, you should try it) • Robot Companion only (aka make a death machine) • Railgun/Cannon only (ammo is probs too rare) • Melee only with no blitz (10+ AGL + max stealth + shadowed armour should make this easy... or just rush everything as a tank?) • Silver Shroud only • Hipfire only • Syringer only (don't try this, trust me) • Enemy dropped legendary only (maybe punch the first one to death? Lure them into a trap? Get a temporary companion until you have your first weapon?) • Explosives only

I'll be honest, I would've subscribed the first time you asked, but then you mentioned it two or three more times and I'm like... I like what I'm hearing but this is getting a little annoying. Just a bit of advice, cut it to once and you'll be set. Good work 👏
Nice video mate. Got a few tips for you, If you scrap everything in sanctuary (And Red Rocket Truck Shop) and do a trick called shelve spamming (just spam build shelves into each other) you can start the game at about lvl 10-14. Also I'd like to see you take on this game with only legendary weapons. Or try to complete it by only damaging enemies with the pain train perk.
Caltrops are crafted items. Try reverse pick pocketing them! On survival stealth and pickpocketing is a strategy. Automatrons can be crafted! Shelving is crafting so you can be level 14 before leaving Sanctuary. You need a lot of luck and idiot savant though so 9 might be more likely. Strong back to make fewer trips and getting crippled by over weight is important. Join the Railroad for ballistic weave and minutemen for arty. Turrets and traps! Every settlement you use needs them! You have to craft feed troughs to get fertilizer for ammo and explosives. You obviously used a companion to keep crafted and looted separate! Easy. Also name everything using all caps! You would have been better off doing a crafted weapons and ammo run. Also armour? Running around in undies is undignified but doable. Scrapper solves the screw shortage. Melee needs Blitz and Big leagues to be effective. Expensive so I shelve or fence post a lot.
Technically speaking you could have done this without a mod, as it would be an explosives and caltrops only run, since you can craft those. it would have been harder, but using a mod to just craft whatever armor and weapons you want is a little less interesting to me. You also use items you didn't craft, your aid items. Even if you didn't use a mod for the sledgehammer, you still technically failed as you used looted aid items you didn't craft.
I mean TECHNICALLY speaking you shouldn't have used the pipboy either since you didnt craft it like the vault suit, but jokes aside great video like always
There is a mod that automatically removes ammo from guns on corpses and adds it to the corpse's inventory. Guess how it's named? "Remove Ammo from Dropped Guns" :) Neil deGrasse Tyson vibes.
I got a challenge recommendation for you. Do a survival playthrough with a weapon condition mod and choose a random settlement to start at and play as a NPC (no quests, no story) and see how far/powerful you can become just surviving off the land. A real "lone survivor" playthrough". Do it 100 days (in game) at a time. Smaller less important missions (quests that you don't portray you as the important plot armor guy are ok since NPCs aren't completely useless/ storyless) and no companions that are too important, ex: dogmeat, MacCready, Strong, Cait, etc.
Hey, bookmarking your video before actually watching the run because it just sounds way too interesting of a challenge for me not to try first. I might even record it and share my run here for comparison if you are alright with that. But I want to try this challenge with the same 3 rules myself but with a difference being I want to make use of the manufacturing extended mods (non cheat or free crafting versions) to accomplish my run. I can see this type of run being a very good run to do in settlement since you can pull off recruitment and crafting using those mods in a way that makes it very interesting. The main difficulty would be getting a recruitment beacon up and running then the rest should just be a matter of time and not starving/dehydrating.
17:32 - You forget one important detail. "General" is a honorary title as you are still told to do grunt work instead of commanding the troops which will magically materialize later.
For later challenge, in the Mechanist dungeon if you have too much trouble with the boss gauntlet you just have to back track while searching for three holotapes then play them beside an elevator near the dungeon entrance to surprise them by behind by entering the command room by the back door. less of a climatic battle but does the job. maybe do it in a challenge run where the answer to success is "be a sneaky sneaker".
I'm a little surprised you didn't take an perks in explosives, as that would allow you to craft explosives at the chemistry station. A few grenades could have helped out as you went.
Issue with that is It's impossible, unless you do some exception you cannot get the robot workbench without clearing the first dungeon of the DLC, I don't think Ada by herself could do it. I may test it out and see if it's possible.
If you're wanting to use robots in another challenge to defend the castle, if I recall, if you have the robot follow you, then tell them to go to the castle, they should be marked as essential. At least that's what I was able to piece from it in my last playthrough
Even if you couldn't use non crafted Weapons or things what you can is scrap them for materials. That would have help a lot with this challenge and solve at least partially with the lack of materials. Also if you wanted it more challenging you can individually take objects ignoring non crafted things that you couldn't scrap
Random thought but It's a bit stupid how the wooden fences dont give you screws..Mf those fences dont just stay together magically- Either screws or nails, but nooo, just wood
I’m not sure on this so it could placebo, but don’t guns with a slower fire rate generally have more damage per bullet? I feel it might have helped early on with ammo consumption
Oh yeah, automatic weapons have horrible Damage per bullet. I knew that before starting the run. The automatics thing was a unstated self imposed challenge I added for myself.
A challenge thatd be fun would be "The little Leaguer" No vats, no power armor, only the baseball uniform, a baseball cap, baseball bat (all variants) and baseball grenades.
rather late to this one, but just discovered you. Great content! I've done something similar, but high agility right at the start and Blitz made melee a great deal easier for conservation of ammo.
20:35 How about a challenge invloving the Cannibal perk? It can be in lines of a ghoul challenge. Say, you're not allowed to heal with stimpacks or use Radway, you must only eat corpses as a method of healing. You could also incoperate a rule in which this is your food source aswell in survival mode, but im not sure as to how the perk affects your hunger meter so that can be ignored. Anyway, here's my subscriper virginity. Keep up the great content!
If you use cannibal in survival you get a debuff called dark craving only people fill your hunger and instead of dropping to peckish when your hungry you instead drop straight to ravenous which among other debuffs reduces your endurance by 8 and cuts your ap in half
Hey what about a legendary cowboy playthrough. The rules would be you can only use a combat, knife, 44 revolver, and leaver action rifle. I don't know if you the dlcs. If not a bolt action rifle would work. But you can't be suppressed as cowboys didn't have suppressors. And with it being a legendary cowboy you can only use legendary weapons. You can get the gainer at anytime in the game without fighting anyone and there is a 44 revolver with ammo by red rocket. I am gonna try this out myself to see how it goes. Love the content and keep having fun.

Youre criminally underrated. Youre going to blow up soon homie, cant wait to see your success
Especially because:
1. There's so many settlements that it becomes hard to manage at a certain point, and honestly hard to care when one settlement complains about their happiness but you have about 30 other ones to manage
It also helped with equipping all settlers with combat rifles in the early game, where combat rifles are pretty rare.
awesome video, say have you ever considered doing a playthrough as a raider? like using only raider based weapons, clothing and/or power armor?
regular base-game raiders, or do nuka world raiders count? because the nuka world raiders have some pretty good gear, like the disciple blade and handmade AK.
@@manboy4720 Both are considered raiders, so yeah. However I think its hard to get the nuka world stuff without glitches or bugs when its on survival mode.
This would be interesting.
One of the DLC comes with machines that allow you to craft weapons already. You didn't need a mod for it. Also. They are much cheaper in parts wise
Thanks for the suggestion!
To make it more difficult exclude the true infinite ammo one from the brotherhood exile in nuka world
After seeing you leave Sanctuary with a primo melee weapon (The Sledgehammer!!), I thought it was going to be smooth sailing.
I now believe that Codsworth watches cartoons.
OMG Thank you for uploading, please do a baseball bat playthrough 😊
I don't plan to stop :D and maybe! after the experience with melee in this run I'm afraid of a melee only run xD but We'll see!
Psycho-jet and baseball bat is one of my favorite runs
I don't have an idea for a run, but I do enjoy the suffering! Liked and subbed, keep the pain rolling.
For the future, when Horizon 2.0 (mod) comes out, it should make for a great challenge run if you focus on using crafted stuff again :)
Delirium is pretty good too.
Exited to watch more runs like this they’re funnest to watch keep it up you gained a fan
I plan to keep it up and glad to have ya!
anyone else notice he spelt survival wrong at 0:18? just me?
Dyslexia strikes again
Nice video. I have a few ideas. Not sure you've done these:
• Headshots only (basically how I play the game every time, but I never _exclusively_ got ALL headshots).
• Stealing/pickpocket only
• Laser Musket only (surprisingly good, you should try it)
• Robot Companion only (aka make a death machine)
• Railgun/Cannon only (ammo is probs too rare)
• Melee only with no blitz (10+ AGL + max stealth + shadowed armour should make this easy... or just rush everything as a tank?)
• Silver Shroud only
• Hipfire only
• Syringer only (don't try this, trust me)
• Enemy dropped legendary only (maybe punch the first one to death? Lure them into a trap? Get a temporary companion until you have your first weapon?)
• Explosives only
Yep, Blitz would've made this run go quicker.
Love that I found this channel. Love fallout challenges
There’s never enough DAKKA
Da oomies fear da DAKKA
This is a cool one, kind of like a fallout 4 iron man challenge.
should have taken a male avatar and named yourself macgyver...
codsworth is the firend who doesnt have a job but does all the house chores for his stay, spent 200 years cleanign the house while you were gone thats some dedication (even if it didnt end up working)
Can you beat fallout 4 without being detected?
by enemies? or in general? does going into caution count as detected?
Looking forward to the run including only crafted healing items aswell
I LOVE YOUR VIDS BRO i respect how much work you put into you vids everything you do is clear you pace is great your doing great work please keep it up 👍👍👍👍
Thanks, will do!
What if you did a challenge run using only legendary items?
Maybe we'll find out!
you could also make the challenge harder by making every enemy legendary
@@roenickgray8948 true and it will make getting more legendaries as well as really upping the difficulty and if you want you can count uniques as well
The kellogg memory bit is the embodiment of "this couldve been an email"
I'll be honest, I would've subscribed the first time you asked, but then you mentioned it two or three more times and I'm like... I like what I'm hearing but this is getting a little annoying. Just a bit of advice, cut it to once and you'll be set. Good work 👏
Earned my sub amazing video
Glad to have ya!
Helen assists us through Hell'n'High water is an underappreciated joke
You have the persistance of John Wick goddamn, full props to you.
I didn't fail. I followed the rules I stated in the begining. I said 'i can only use crafted weapons armor and ammo' nothing about aid items.
That's fair i suppose, but it would have been more interesting if you didn't allow picked up aid items either@@WillowPlaysGames
I never knew you could find skinny in the commonwealth after that quest, its pretty funny
Bro i found you in my recommended today happy you popped up this video is awesome
there's two more on the channel! and another very soon!
Smaller less important missions (quests that you don't portray you as the important plot armor guy are ok since NPCs aren't completely useless/ storyless) and no companions that are too important, ex: dogmeat, MacCready, Strong, Cait, etc.
before you save nick you can gie mama murphy jet and she will tell you to tell skinny to remember the quarry so you can just skip having the charisma
Oh that's dope
yo, amazing video please continue with these challenges
I will
i love how you use the craftable robots from automatron because not many would think like that because it is a companion
Love the videos man keep it up
Everytime you name something it's like you're an orc from Warhammer 40K and it makes me chuckle
I must live through these videos, my system can barely handle fallout 4 so I can't even attempt survivor mode
Rare TH-cam recommended W. Finally recommends me some good content.
9:02 I will be calling them Budbloogs for the rest of my life now lmao.
This is really cool! Love the content, and keep it up man :))
Thanks, will do!
I'm a little surprised you didn't take an perks in explosives, as that would allow you to craft explosives at the chemistry station. A few grenades could have helped out as you went.
I'm dying to see a challenge of beating Fallout 4 on survival with only robots of the Automaton DLC. Great vídeo!
Issue with that is It's impossible, unless you do some exception you cannot get the robot workbench without clearing the first dungeon of the DLC, I don't think Ada by herself could do it. I may test it out and see if it's possible.
@@WillowPlaysGames If you allow yourself to help her without doing damage I think it might be possible, like using repair kits on her
i def heard “my wast wun with only pipe wepons “ i started laughing hysterically
LMAOOOO 🤣 I think it's hilarious how you call the baby "tiny roommate." I'm stealing this. 😂
Yes police, right here! I found the thief!
If you're wanting to use robots in another challenge to defend the castle, if I recall, if you have the robot follow you, then tell them to go to the castle, they should be marked as essential. At least that's what I was able to piece from it in my last playthrough
An intersting and rage inducing challenge could be zombie apocolyse mod and pipe guns only to be the game
Just sub and I’m already loving your contact keep them coming and I’ll keep watching
Even if you couldn't use non crafted Weapons or things what you can is scrap them for materials. That would have help a lot with this challenge and solve at least partially with the lack of materials. Also if you wanted it more challenging you can individually take objects ignoring non crafted things that you couldn't scrap
Well your pipe weapon only run has inspired me to try it. It's going well so far.
Random thought but
It's a bit stupid how the wooden fences dont give you screws..Mf those fences dont just stay together magically-
Either screws or nails, but nooo, just wood
They are held together with wonderglue obviously /s
@@WillowPlaysGames oh hi Willow-
Hope you have a nice day
I’m not sure on this so it could placebo, but don’t guns with a slower fire rate generally have more damage per bullet?
I was wondering where did budbloogs come from, now it makes sense xD
This was amazing, I almost passed for a few times, it was just satisfying
glad you enjoyed!
