Hi, im also looking to buy one for my synchdrive sport motor on my giant, have you had any issues? I've heard they can cut the bike off if the bike detects anything strange
@@Tom-ml5sj Not really as I have not used the Volspeed in my syncdrive. The fact that it is so difficult to get it "coding" right (such as hold this button for 10 seconds, screen will flash 3 times or whatever. I would go thru it if I felt I needed to though. The syncdrive gravel bike I built up from I just used the finicky chainstay speed sensor method. We have 4 syncdrive (yamaha with giant's better firmware) and really enjoy them. We also have a shimano steps e8000 and 2 sorry Bosch ebikes. Bosch bikes are the least configurable and they will lock you out permanently (take to shop to reset) if it detects you screwing with the motor. I have a volspeed delimter on one of the Bosch's though with no problems. Have fun. One thing people really don't seem to get duh..... is the fact that ebike firmware should be configurable by the user from 0-100% assist so that the user can be a human and not a robot and ride at whatever level they are good for at a given time. Almost all aren't. Specialized mission control is like that but $$$. Giant's at least give you a great range of 5 different levels of assist and within those levels 1,2,3 sublevels. Bet you are sorry you ask now.
Had my VOLspeed V3 delivered yesterday but the instructions didn't include RideControl App details. This video looks like it explains how to do it so I can't wait for the weekend now to give it a try. Fingers crossed :)
Yes, the RideControl app is not shown in the instructions. This only shows the old EVO display as an example. In principle, only a speed display is needed for the setup and settings. Whether a fixed display (EVO, Charge, 2in1), a removable display (RideDash Plus) or a smartphone with the RideControl app or a navigation system with ANT+ LEV support is used for this does not matter.
Any idea if the speedmods for 2020 engine models also fit the new 2021 bikes? It seems that it's the same engine still. I ordered an Giant FastRoad E+ EX Pro 2021 model bike and would like to install an speedmod to it but I'm kind of uncertain if these tunechips are still compatible.

I need to pedal very hard to get to 45 km/u with the box, the ridecontral app is on eacht and on max. Is there anything i can do to make the support harder?
Tuning does not increase the motor power, it only removes the speed limit. Especially with the Syncdrive Sport, it is not easy to reach 45 km/h despite tuning. But the Syncdrive Pro should have sufficient power. However, it may be that the cadence becomes too high. The solution is to fit a larger chainring at the front.

My volspeed arrived today and installed on giant explorer 2021, if i open the giant app, follow this video, nothing happens.. I cant get anything to work.. What might be the problem?.. I need help..
Please check if you have the VOLspeed V3, P/N 1197. The older VOLspeed V2, P/N 1155, does not work with 2021 model year. It it still doesn't work i would suggest to contact our support. Contact details are on the backside of the manual.

For the 2021 models you need the VOLspeed V3, P/N 1197. It is physically the same module. However, the software has been adapted to support the 2021 model year with the new Smart Gateway.
Installed Volspeed V3 today on my 2021 Trance e+. It works perfectly. Only had to remove one crank and lower the motor a little bit. Was done in about 1h.
Correct. The faster you ride, the shorter the range. According to our experience, the range is reduced by about 15% with the default setting 32km/h and corresponding speed... Compared to operation without tuning at 25km/h.

For the 2021 bikes there is new VOLspeed V3, P/N 1197. The V2 doesn't work with 2021 models.

The video shows the Giant Ride Control app. However, this is an older version, as the video is already a few years old.

Installation looks easy for the Stance e+. Does this also work for a Trance e+ MY 2020?
I have Trance E+ and it is the same working, only I had loosen the crown
