The range will drop dramatically since that much speed requires much more energy and it's not linear. I did this on my other bike and the range at full power and full speed would drop down to about 30% (70% reduction!) of what originally claimed. I later on decided to go back to the original. It's still a pedal bike, not a motor bike and it should stay that way.

Which of those two is the easiest to unlock, and with the least issues like error codes? Or is there a better option at the $4000 AUD price range? Appreciate any info mate. I’ve put so much research into trying to get the best value mid-mount from a decent brand, but something that’s not slow as F.
Giant roam has the Syncdrive core motor which is very slow when unlocked you will typically only be able to get up to 35km/h, Cube uses the Bosch motor which can be unlocked but can have issues with error codes. Alternatively we have some bikes in stock using the Bafang m510 motor which can be unlocked to 45km/h and still maintain its warranty.
Can we expect the same performance as the slightly higher-end motor, the SyncDrive ''Sport'' obviously without your Giant Speed Unlock Chip ? I have to choose between a Roam (''Core'' 50nm) or an Explore (''Sport'' 70nm) . In short, does your modification increase the torque at the ''Sport'' motor level?

My guess is yes it does. I spoke with my giant LBS and he told me they legally cannot work on any other brand ebike, or any regular bike modified with after market motor. He won't even change a tire on any ebike not Giant, and not stock.
there is a simple hack ,do not need a chip etc unless of course you finicky about your display showing correct speed and distance ( I use the phones gps for this so no biggie).

Remember this. Higher voltage = increased speed. Most of those bike will be sold with the legal limit of a 36v battery. This is what will restrict your speed. Replace it with a 48v or 52v pack and your speed will increase by 10-15 mph. That is it.

Only the speed limit is increased, There is no additional torque or power increased for this chip.
What did you go with? I'm facing the same "problem", roam vs explore, and I still have no idea what to go for...

If you remove the chip prior to warranty claims you should be ok. If you leave it installed you would not get warranty

Have you managed to get this done on a giant fathom e+2? The chain ring is in the way of the bolts so can't get the bash guard off.
The chainring has to be removed for many of the giant installs as it can get in the way of the bolts.

Make sure you check the control unit can take that many volts though?
