It’s so funny to me that he actually got a change of heart after this hella good speech from Arizona and then when she cheats on Callie, he goes all mad like: “WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT MAN IN THE STORM CRAP”💀
This always makes me bawl my eyes out, I am in love with the mannerisms, the pause, the the way she pronounces each word. Hands down my favorite monologue probably in the whole show. This one and the one when Christina is telling the chief about Burkes hand. Her whole “even that is not difficult. I was his hand. I was his hand and now I am a ghost. That is not difficult. It is unbearable.”
Most people think that I was named for the state, but it’s not true. I was named for a battleship-the U.S.S. Arizona. My grandfather was serving on the Arizona when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, and he saved nineteen men before he drowned. Pretty much everything my father did his whole life was about honoring that sacrifice. I was raised to be a good man in a storm-raised to love my country, love my family, protect the things I love. When my father, Colonel Daniel Robbins of the United States Marine Corp heard that I was a lesbian, he said he only had one question. I was prepared for, “How fast can you get out of my house?”, but instead, it was, “Are you still who I raised you to be?”. My father believes in country the way that you believe in God, and my father is not a man who bends, by he bent for me, because I am his daughter. I’m a good man in a storm. I love your daughter, and I protect the things I love. Not that I need to-she doesn’t need it. She’s strong and caring and honorable, and she’s who you raised her to be.
These words actually hit home for me & my family. My maternal great grandfather was a WWII Vet & maternal grandfather was a Vietnam Vet, paternal grandfather Army, father Marine, brother Navy, sister Army & 6 other uncles Army. In my family this dates all the way back to the Cival War. We're very open & each have very different views on religion, politics & personal beliefs in other areas within relationships, but were accepting because we respect it since we're family. We believe in country the way others believe in God 100%.
