I think this is based off of the Japanese myth of the Jorogumo, where a man falls in love with a Japanese spider woman yokai called the Jorogumo, and at the end she kidnaps him. It’s left ambiguous whether or not she ate him or had little spider babies with him, but she spent a lot of time with him so I’m guessing they got married

This is actually a story i've wanted for years. A friendly spider woman, a heroic kidnapper who saves people, romance with a monster that works and even the whole thing of absorbing life energy not being lethal but rather something like smoke from a burning fire.
Heck throw in extra points for her monster design instead of making her a beautiful woman with the lower body of a spider.
That's such a shame they didn't give these two more screen time and better development. I loved this concept as well

Humans are scary creatures. Let’s just say, he is one in millions. He is just as lonely as her and they found comfort in each other. How lucky.
Instances like that do happen. I never could find a girl in my country I could get along with and I talked to many and had an interest in several but they were all colossal failures. But then I came across this filipina online one day, we didn't like each other in the beginning but we still talked out of curiosity to figure out why each other was the way we they were. And before we knew it, we developed feelings and dated for 9 years and still going strong, I even met her once and I'll be meeting her for the 2nd time in a couple weeks. Me and her are polar opposites while living on opposite sides of the world. Instances like this story and my relationship are extreme rarities but they do somehow exist despite the odds.

@@PC-mv4ye it's rough. We do desire to be with each other physically but we also have a thorough understanding of each others situation. Our relationship wouldn't have lasted if we didn't trust in each other and got bored of each other, we are actually quite possessive of each other and want each other all to ourselves. We keep no secrets from one another and we always ask each other permission to do things, we don't lie to each other either and most importantly we don't cage each other and make one another feel trapped either, we have mutual respect for each other. Our relationship is an odd and rare one.

@@PC-mv4ye i just gotta help her get a fiance visa and once she has visited here for 1 month, I was going to leave the decision up to her. 1 hand there is many opportunities not possible in her country and many up to date things will be available but her family won't be here. Other hand we live in her native country and she doesn't leave her friends and family behind but we miss out on opportunities to help us grow and take care of our children in the future. This is a massive decision for her and I wanted her to choose where we will spend our life together, she has a lot to lose in the move and I don't have much left to lose myself, she's practically all I've got left so thats why I'll go where she wants to go.
It's pretty amazing how much story and depth they packed into a 24 episode anime. I remember feeling dull from seasonal animes then this came around and I've been hooked since. You don't see any good yokai anime these days, but Dororo certainly delivered.
Blade of Immortal is another good 24 episodes. I rarely enjoy modern seasonal animes.

Dororo was originally adapted from an Osamu Tezuka manga in 1969, and because Osamu is dead but still alive in our hearts, the only chance of there being a season 2 is slim.
Maybe like an ova of hyakimaru's journey with a fully human body up until the point he reunites again with dororo.
This anime are full of adventure and emotionally sadness yet enjoyable
But rushed ending.

The spider woman defends herself from the man trying to kill her, but after laying him low, checks to see he is alive and insists he is taken to a doctor, because she doesn't hate him nor delight in death. She just wants to be left in peace.
It raises the philosophical question of what the definition of a monster is. Are these strange beastly supernatural beings really monsters? Or are they just people who are different from us?
It is more likely that monster is not a race, but a mindset. If so, this woman is no monster, frightening as she may appear. She deserves her peace, just as any other.

To me to be a "monster" you need to have malice and WANT to inflict suffering and cruelty.

I love stories about blossoming love like these, they are often bittersweet, but still so moving!

Now i understand how his sight works. Anything red is deemed Dangerous but if you look at the spider lady, she goes from red to brown. Meaning she’s not a threat.
She was born a demon, but chose to live as a human.
Ironic, one of the scariest Youkai (For me), turned out to be one of the kindest

This is actually not what the entire anime is about. The anime primarily focuses on two main characters, a little girl named Dororo and a grown man named Hyakkimaru who lost his real body to demons after his father (the emperor) sacrificed him to the demons because they promised his land and his people to flourish. Hyakkimaru is left as just a skull in a blanket and is found by a man skilled in prosthetics and builds his body with fake prosthetics. The only way Hyakkimaru can regain his body is by killing demons and eventually decides to part from his now father (the man who took him in) and on the way encounters Dororo who decides to stick with him throughout his journey to reclaim his body. There are tons of side characters including a blind old man that occassionally sticks with them for a while and parts ways over and over again. I will say that this demon is the only one Hyakkimaru did not kill because the demon was not inherently bad.

I love this series immensely and although I'd love to see more of it I think the ending they gave it was beautiful and I wouldn't have it any other way

@@koreannom At the end of the episode Dororo herself said that they left, she just grabbed him and left, so, they were alive at the ending of the episode.
But we need to remember that in the time they live in, it was not hard for someone to die because of an arrow, by the time it took for her to find a medic to help him, chances are that it would be too late, so its left for our imagination if they managed to live together or not.

there was something like this in the manga franken fran. a guy was in love with a girl who treated him like shit but got hit by a car. the car was driven by fra's maid (basically a female version of Dr Frankenstein) and decided she was partly to blame and decided to save the girls life. her body was so mangled that the only way to save her was to basically turn put her head on a giant caterpillar's body. he stayed by her side even though she was a monster and she started developing feelings for him, then she went through the classic metamorphosis that caterpillars go through by making a cocoon but when she emerged it was her original human body. That night they make love for the first time but after the deed is done the next scene is the chick as a monster insect eating the dude alive while saying she loves him.

Not to sound like a pervert. Yajiro is a lucky dude, cause when you think about it, when both made it to the other side of the border. Ohagi must have been completely NUDE, when she reverted back to her Human form, for if you’ll notice she rip all her clothes off when she transformed. I can actually picture a scene where Ohagi is being lovey dovey and seductive with Yajiro and him going all for it. Until he decides to tell her to go hide in a cave or something, while he goes to get her some clothes, to continue their journey. 😊

@@sahilagarwal6601 There is a tale about Spider Demons that disguise themselves as female women. They are called Jorogumo and Lure Man in with their beauty only to feed on them. Its a classic tale and the story ends often bad for both because the human get killed by the Jorogumo for food reasons and the Spider because she is a demon. But there are also romance storys with them who also end often bad. So this one is probably a happy end for both of them instead of the cliche. Its kinda like the tale with the yuki-onna as soon as i heard about them i fell in love with japanese folklore. There are really strange Yokai but its really one of the best folklore and mythology there is.
