Legend has it that tigers invaded Korea's third largest island, Jindo. Only Bbong remained on the island after everyone fled for Modo. Each day she prayed to Yongwang for the return of her family and friends. He answered her calls by parting the sea. Each spring, the miracle recreates itself.
For more information, read my post on The Korea Blog:

From the terminal, take a city bus (towards Hoedong-ri in Gogun-myeon) or a taxi (est. travel time of 30~40 minutes) to the festival location.
I remember one of my korean student in the Philippines before told me they have vacation house near that island. awesome.
It's 2022, in April! And we saw this in my class! Thanks for the video!
so many foreigners these days. i guess your videos are really helping to bring tourists to korea!
@AdrainAugust I'm glad you enjoyed this piece. It's one of my favorites and a great experience as well!
Jindo - gun...truly awesome !! thank you for sharing
That is such a cool experience!! and those rain boots are so fashion hehehehe
I just saw this in an old video from " Believe it or not of Ripley's" So impressive, I wish I could travel there.
Wow you were in there in maybe 2011 ... I am originally from South Korea.. thanks for sharing your Jindo Video.
@butovas Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed this one!
@lahee Thank you so much for such a grand complement! I really appreciate that!
@TheFaustianMan Thank you for the awesome complement.
1) I used two cameras. One for video (HFS11) and a GoPro for the time lapse.
2) I used my external mic for this one.
3) Thanks. I decided to download a few new tracks.
4) Thanks. I chose to implement a few new effects for this project. More to come!
I'd love to work with the Travel Channel and Bourdain.
@bubbleliciousgigglez Thanks for the complement! Views are always appreciated, but not why I make the videos. I love sharing the information!
@thechoos Thank you! Glad you enjoyed this one!

Another great story... Fancy boots, too!
@AnsanAnswers You're welcome! Maybe give it a try next year!
Another great video, Steve! I love the time lapse!
Wow. This was really good! You got the sound perfect, and the stop motion part was incredible. Did you use more than one camera? Were you mic'd? And excellent choice on the filters and the music.
I tell you, the travel channel doesn't have vids this good or interesting. In the future maybe you should make a proposal.
You'd do a better job that Bourdain.
Great video! We've heard of this phenomenon, but had never seen it before. Thanks for sharing.
@LylesBrother Thank you Kurt, I'm quite happy with the presentation in this one! Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave a comment. It means a lot coming from a naturalist, such as yourself!
@Mattinmotion Glad to be of help! Korea is a great place to explore! You'll have a great time here!
Awesome! But i have to say I like your yellow boots... they looks so funny! XD like donald duck!
looks so crowded now,use to hang there in the late 80's mid 90's
You should be the Rick Steve's of Asia!!
Another great video....I have been on holidays for 3 weeks so am only now just catching up on your videos. Looked like a fun day.
What a great story. How fun. Super adventure that I hope ended in a terrific meal. :)
I read about this in Simon Winchester's book about walking the western length of South Korea. It looks more solid than I imagined.
@Fatu17 glad you're enjoying them! Yes, come to Korea!
@GreenEggsAndHamster Glad you did my friend! I had a blast using the cameras on this one!
that was really cool. I love when you tell the stories of where you are...
Unbelievable Steve - A magical road! Excellent. Hey I wondered why you had those nice yellow boots on ;P

thnx for the vid!!! :D!
@jacktchance Thanks! We had a great time out that way!
@echomiketwo I'm not sure. I think it's just easier to get them since the water abates!
@japundit Thanks Edward. We had such a great time traveling out there, that I wanted to do the trip and the experience justice!
@kimsuke101 ;-) Fun was had by many there! Thanks for watching!
Very cool. Someone needs to get Jim Carey out there to do a "Bruce Almighty" while it's parting.
well done! and very interesting!
Nice! That's really cool.
@KazukiSeirei Aweosme! When are you guys returning home?
Great video, I remember walking this when i was just 6 or 7
The parting sea is also occured at Lariti Beach at Bima, the province of West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, best to visit in the month of May to June, the path connect the Flores Island to a small island just offshore, very scennic landscape, clear water and warm weather.
This happens only for a couple of days, but the sea there must be rather shallow the rest of the year too no? Could probably walk there maybe kneedeep or so?
I wondered the same thing.
I went there such an amazing place
@JamConcerned We didn't get any while there.... Too busy filming and then we went out for dinner after. Great food though!
Great video! I'm going to Japan this summer (barring any further problems in Fukushima) but I'm definitely considering heading over to Korea as well at some point. Your vids are great travel tips and also very informative. Thanks!
wow!!! that's really cool! i would like to visit some time
Hey, that's amazing, I didn't know about that at all. My girlfriend and I are definitely going to be checking this out!
@TheHeartAndSeoul Cool. More history is on the way!
So cute at 3:08 that they are taking pictures in their boots the boots are killer..lol I wonder did you get any clams and how do you fix it.
great video! very interesting i would love to see that.
Wow this is great...maybe Jesus really lived in Korea and not Israel...the parting of the Red sea was maybe just the parting of the Jindo Sea.
Keep up the great work fellow waygookin, love your videos, you should get way more views!
There is a path between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, see my comment to Simon Naylor
I lived in South Korea for 3 years but sadly never got to this awesome event. Do you know if this happens anywhere else? I have to think this phenomenon has to be the inspiration for the story of Moses, or maybe the true location before the story was reinterpreted (or maybe somewhere else this phenomenon occurs).
I recently saw a video explaining that the exact same thing happened in the Red Sea between Egypt and Saudi Arabia. There is a underwater "road" made of coral reefs. When the sea retreats, you can walk over to Saudi Arabia.
@@anadubar4819 amazing! I’m sure incredible natural phenomena like this inspired some of the myths, legends, and biblical stories we know… at least. Or, individuals in biblical times knew of these phenomena and took advantage of them.
@cgkitti Thanks! We had been looking forward to this event for a while!
@Zublime75 Thanks for watching! Those boots came in handy too!
@MParquee I really think it's one of the more unknown festivals and phenomenons. Great times shall be had there!
Hi, Steve. How are you? I hope that you are happy anywhere. Your fan in Dongtan...
@daewooparts Very cool. They say it gets upwards of 50,000 now at the peak festival time!
Would love to see residential areas !
@TravInThailand Awesome to see you around again, mate! Did you by chance head back to Thailand? The trip was amazing and something I had never seen before. I'm very thankful for the experience!
@CyberDame You totally should! For now, you have the video!

Where is Moses' magic staff at?
it's not magic. It's a proof of ALLAH's words was true. ALLAH is not a wizard

@xavier3961 They call Bbong the Moses of Jindo/Korea.
What's that at 0:31?
Whats the track called at 2:50
But this doesn't look like the sea is parting it's like it's drying up i thought it was a mozes like thing...
@FunWhileGunDenial BOOM!
Si è bello, ma troppe chiacchiere e poche immagini.
