It’s worth noting here that the fairest comparison would have been the black slingshot to the RAM, but we only have the red one and that’s also the most commonly used one I’ve seen.
I think the most accurate comparison will be between the Super Ram and Mad Dog Slingshot. They are both Double Ply and same elastic-like fabric material.
I've always liked the Slingshot's and own the red, yellow and black ones. I also use their sleeves. Quality stuff. I'm definitely interested in trying the Titan Ram. Might have to treat myself soon. Great video!
I feel like the most important distinction here is that one overloads the bench in a way that mimics a raw bench and one overloads the bench in a manner that mimics shirt benching. That should really make the decision for anyone on its own. What competition movement are you trying to use this to improve? Choose the product that more closely mimics that.
good review! I would like hear your thoughts on the most aggressive sling shot compared to the ram though as it seems like that is a more fair comparison.
I use the sling shot every few weeks today I did a 300lbs bench @65 years old have done 355 It’s a great tool, I don’t use it every time, I like to mix it up
Great comparison vid! I personally own the Slingshot and is a great product. Very reliable. The only thing is that every time I use it, I feel like I am cheating, so.. it is kinda hard to compare the overall improvement on your bench. Say you track your progress and week 1 is 4x5x72 kg, week 2 4x4x90 kg and then with the slingshot on week 3 4x3x120 kg... so, are you doing better or worse? Even if the volume is the same, how do you compensate for the "cheat" that comes from using the slingshot?
I have the mid range sling shot and the most aggressive sling shot and I have the Ram. Ive only used the ram a cpl times. I use my slingshots religiously. He's right, the ram feels like a shirt. As I've competed in both raw and equipped powerlifting. But since I only compete raw, the slingshot feel just like my raw bench. And since I'm also use a rather close grip when I bench, the fact that it forces me to tuck my elbows, its a perfect training tool.
So using the slingshot felt alil more raw for u? Ppl look at it like a cheat smh, it takes pressure off my shoulders for wen i lift heavy, i dont feel like im cheating wen i lift it lol
What size are your titan ram and slingshot? I have a 2xlslingshot, originally got a 3xl, but the size chart wasn't the best. I want to get a titan ram, but wanted to hear your opinion first.
Used all the slingshots, big fan of the Full Boar (yellow) one with angled sleeves. But all are good. I like the reactive (blue) for dips too. Never used a titan.
The disadvantage of the slingshot due to its construction of the sleeves is, that the middle part of the slingshot stays before lowering the barebell in a way up... the RAM is for equipped benchers the far better solution
I Like The Sling Shot For It’s Versatility. You Can Use It For Benching, Of Course. Push-Ups & Dips. The Material Is Comfortable And It’s In-Expensive, Around $50 For The Original. The Website Also Gives Promotions Regularly. I Haven’t Tried The Other One, but I Don’t Power Lift So 🤷🏻♂️. But I Like The Sling Shot So Much I Have 2 Of Them, Elbow Sleeves, Knee Sleeves, & A Sling Shot Specifically For Push Ups Alone . My .02
I have about a dozen different "slingshot" type items and this info in the video is dead-on (except for the prices.) U can get The Red "Original" Slingshot for 55 bux. And Titan came out with the Super Charged Ram since this video was made last year.
I got my slingshot for like $40... I like it tho, I use it every bench session after my raw benching. Feels really good but topless benching has lots of friction on the inside of your pecs. I bench topless because it helps stick to the bench rather than sliding and I have a home gym.
I'm pretty sure I got my red slingshot for $50, in the US. BTW, I would recommend getting a bigger size than you'd think. I'm 5'8" 185lbs and I got a LG, and I have a lot of trouble getting it on. I wish I got an XL and maybe I'd actually use it.
But why overload the easy part, wouldn't a paused bench help build bottom end power? Or is it to overload triceps? I'm just a rec lifter looking for strength not necessarily ways to optimize a competitive lift.
Generally speaking, more weight you lift, the more muscle you develop - I know it's more complex and nuanced than that. Personally I do overloaded paused presses with the Slingshot - so after 4-6 working sets without, I add 10-15% to the bar and do triples, paused. I've found I'm able to add volume, and added intensity through heavier reps/sets at the end. I don't use it for touch and go reps so I don't get the advantage of the springy effect of the Slingshot like knee wraps/sleeves do for squats. I'm mid-40s, so being able to close out a session with triples in the high 200's/low 300's AND keep my shoulders healthy makes the $85 worth it.
The bottom of the lift isn't necessarily the "easy part", sticking points on lifts are individual based on the lifter's body proportions, muscular imbalances, etc.
I raw bench 410lbs, with the reds slingshot I've put up 455lbs. BW 210 If I remember right I think you put the sleeves on your upper arm. I usually keep it on the elbow to try and stretch it more in the hole. Never used a ram before, would like to after seeing this.
I completely agree with you 100%. I own a slingshot and it has helped me surpass many plateaus. I do have a question if you don't mind answering I am a raw lifter from Florida super heavyweight and I'm 38 years old. I've been researching bench press with a bench shirt. And the only reason I've been researching this type of lifting is because I would like to continue my lifting career throughout my fifties and 60s is there any information that you can tell me that will further get me prepared or anyone can tell me going into that particular division
Bryce, can you give us a quick low down on incorporating these into a program? I go through stages of using the slanger but if I’m honest I always end up pissing about with singles 😂
Not related to the video, but in the 16w program, can u throw in a deload mid program? (7-8w). What would be a good way to go about doing that? More product reviews btw!
Nice man I just got a PR with like sling shot at 365lbs after 2 shoulder surgery and a bad elbow thought I never bench again. Its a gear piece of equipment
The Magnum Ram is almost too much assistance. I can match my shirted bench in one. To me, a small 5-10% overload is all that’s needed from these devices. Manufacturers have lost sight of that and just wanna build stuff that lets people lift more and more weight
It’s worth noting here that the fairest comparison would have been the black slingshot to the RAM, but we only have the red one and that’s also the most commonly used one I’ve seen.
got both of them, the magnum ram still beats the mad dog by ALOT!
I think the most accurate comparison will be between the Super Ram and Mad Dog Slingshot. They are both Double Ply and same elastic-like fabric material.
You’re off the team
Alan Thrall Helo I squat high bar
Alan, you were off the team when you put a hole in Uncle Marks wall at the old ST gym!!
😂
Did you get in you fahvs today
Absolutely becoming my favourite channel for powerlifting, you guys deserve so much more credit than you get!

The magnum ram sounds like a condom.
The full boar slingshot (yellow one) has angled sleeves which helps with the elbows you talked about with the original slingshot
I love the Full Boar. I wish they made the angled sleeve Slingshot with the black Slingshot material. That would be perfect
The amount of uploads lately is sick, keep it up guys!

I had no idea that the Ram existed. I thought the slingshot was the only product like this. Part of me died today.
There's a bunch of companies that make different versions with a variety of features. Theres the Bench Daddy, METAL Catapult, and a bunch of others
@@bolterboy Stop it now you're killing him! lol
CONGRATZ ON THAT 30K SUB! Keep up the good content guys, you rock!
I use the slingshot as I can use it on my own as I have no friends and train alone haha.
"haha" ;(
ha.
hm.
hah.
Joseph Greenly relatable, but at the end of the day, guys who hit the gym hard alone tend to have better gains because they're not slacking off
That was exactly my thinking. I just don't want to be stuck under the bar.
No friends crew checking in. Don't need'em.
Great unbiased review, definitely helped me make up my mind. And good on you giving the shout out for 2 Western Canadian suppliers for the product.
Consistently great vids boi. Keep up the quality, frequency and informative content.
It would be very nice to have another video explaining how to fit bench with slingshot in a program
search the Supertraining channel and Mark Bell has a decent program that combines raw and slingshot bench in a 4-5 week cycle.
xcuu do it as another exercise just like overhead press and set PRs on it.
MORE PRODUCT REVIEWS!
good review! I would like hear your thoughts on the most aggressive sling shot compared to the ram though as it seems like that is a more fair comparison.
A more accurate comparison to the Titan RAM would have been with the Maddog Sling Shot.
I paid $50 for it can do incline dips also. Using the slingshot I've improved my raw bench by 40lbs. In a short time frame.
yeah man I prefer Titan Random Access Memory, but don't forget about good Read Only Memory to get the best out of the lift.
I use the sling shot every few weeks today I did a 300lbs bench @65 years old have done 355

subscribed. clean presentation and great fair review.
Id be interested to know if anyone has ripped one mid bench and gone straight to snap city!

Hey man, Was wondering what your take is on the Titan Longhorn belt ? And also what belt you use ? Fire content 🤙
So do you think that a magnum ram would make sense for an intermediate lifter to start training for equipped bench only competitions?
also slingshot and dumbells, dips, over head press. hell do rows with it and it adds another resistance factor.
Used all the slingshots, big fan of the Full Boar (yellow) one with angled sleeves. But all are good. I like the reactive (blue) for dips too. Never used a titan.
what's your take on the old version of the ram and super ram?
With the newer titan RAM, did you find it had the choking out issue like people complained about the older one?
Jensen MacDonald not at all, mine rides very low (intentionally) and doesn’t slip at all
The disadvantage of the slingshot due to its construction of the sleeves is, that the middle part of the slingshot stays before lowering the barebell in a way up... the RAM is for equipped benchers the far better solution

I bench topless because it helps stick to the bench rather than sliding and I have a home gym.
May be the difference between USD and CD, because mine was fairly cheap as well
I like both I used to the Ram for super overloads
Same
Have you guys looked into sponsorship with TH-cam? It'd be cool if with that feature you can have a form check with those who sponsor!

140 to 180 is a large u need xl bud
Can you review these nutz
Come on man. It's Deez Nutz. Get it together.
A tool for equipped lifters I assume. Does it make getting out of the hole easier? If so, what use would it have for regular lifting?
i use it for overloading after a bunch of raw sets, plus I find it helps to protect my old shoulders somewhat
Good for overload training in general, not just for equipped lifters.
But why overload the easy part, wouldn't a paused bench help build bottom end power? Or is it to overload triceps? I'm just a rec lifter looking for strength not necessarily ways to optimize a competitive lift.

check out how Ryan Kennelly sets his nemesis (similar to a slingshot) if you have some one pull it farther down towards your belly its a game changer.
I completely agree with you 100%. I own a slingshot and it has helped me surpass many plateaus.

There's a less aggressive option from titan. It's just called "Titan Ram ""
Bottom line: Slingshot better for raw lifters, Ram better for equipped. But equipped can also use the black slingshot as an alternative.

Why are you talking in kg’s and not lb’s
I would rotate them all in 3 week cycles
The ram does not work properly when used on your elbows , you have to pull it past elbows for it to work the way its designed...
Wow got my slinger awhile ago for 55.
I have used those at all
$95 for a slingshot ??? You way off
Canadian dollars...
You look like a young buff Corey Taylor. Same neck size tho
Slingshot is made to pull your elbows in....
175 kilo or pounds?
Probably kgs? What was I talking about?
@@calgarybarbell your bench. I was gonna say you look like u can bench more then 175 pounds lol and that. A good few plates.
Hahah yeah that was definitely 175kg. Probably around 190 at the moment.
Nice man I just got a PR with like sling shot at 365lbs after 2 shoulder surgery and a bad elbow thought I never bench again. Its a gear piece of equipment
Hey Bryce the one u got there is a magnum ram, titan makes a super charged ram which is even more aggressive.
Red ones $55
Sling shot is great but quality has went down since the new emblem ....for $50 bucks? Come on Mark Bell
The red slingshot is not $75.... Its more like $50
50 in usa
Titan used to make a less-assistive device called the Ram, which I loved and is more comparable to an original Slingshot
Yes they did, I’m not sure if they still make it though
Magnum is always better for me.
Your way off on your prices red sling shot 55 yellow 60 black 70
CAD not USD.
Calgary Barbell:
How much can the top slingshot add to a max benchpress of 350 pounds?
How much can the top ram add to a max benchpress of 350 pounds?

First comment.
"Get a hair cut already!"
Don't call it a raw bench when you are using a fucking rubber band to slingshot it of your chest.
I wasn't. I mention my raw bench in comparison to using the two...
