    Do you make your own activator and have you got a resep for it ? Really hard to get hold of it in Australia

  • @lilredbmw4933
    @lilredbmw4933 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Im in Scotland and after watching many of your videos i have just attempted dipping a rifle stock for the first time, it went very very wrong, i think the cause was the fact that the part i was dipping was considerably colder than the water drastically affecting adhesion, it just seemed to melt off in many places, ill have to re-prep the part and try again inside the house once everything has acclimatised

    • @LiquidConceptsUSA
      @LiquidConceptsUSA  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont think the water temperature had anything to do with the adhesion. Normally if it doesnt adhere, its an activator or paint related issue. If its melting off the part its either too much activator or you are using the wrong paint.

    Can the tank water become too contaminated with activator? If so when do you know?

    Hi Brian, you have really great videos. I started to print my own foils, but I still fail to apply without errors. Are you also printing your graphics yourself? can there be different kinds of pva foil? I do not know if my mistakes are caused by bad foil. I've been doing hydrography for several years, but I've always bought ready-made films. I need advice. It bothers me.
    Thanks a lot.

    • @LiquidConceptsUSA
      @LiquidConceptsUSA  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes we are printing our own films. As with any products, there are multiple kinds of PVA from multiple manufacturers and the quality is always differernt. It could be in the printer, the PVA or the application on where you are getting problems from the film. Its very hard to say without knowing more information about everything.

    • @deps-artdesign8957
      @deps-artdesign8957 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LiquidConceptsUSA Thank you for answer. I bought a pva film on a portable paper and a fixator, also called "A" on the Internet. You also fix the color from the printer to the pva film fixator / activator "A"?
      I use a Canon TM-200 inkjet printer to print on PVA film.

    What temperature does the water needs to be to have a successful dip.

    Great tips man. BUT I have a issue. What would make the patterns dull? Black comes out grey, dark blue to look light? This is driving me nuts. I thought it was too much activator and tried less and ended up with issues that you show here with not enough.

  • @davidhill2435
    @davidhill2435 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Many guys show dipping one half of a part (gun stocks primarily) and then dip the other half. They use tape on the non-dip side. Won't the tape tear off the dip if you don't clear coat it first? What temperature is your dip water and rinse? I've had issues with the water being too hot.

    • @LiquidConceptsUSA
      @LiquidConceptsUSA  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the dip is properly dipped, then the tap should NOT pull off the dip. It is however a good idea to spray the binder on the dip just in case your dip isnt activated exactly perfect and that will certainly help from the tap pulling off the dip. We dip in 80-90 degrees and rinse with regular room temperature water.

    Can the water in the tank be reused for multiple dips or is new water required for each project?

    • @LiquidConceptsUSA
      @LiquidConceptsUSA  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can definitely reuse the water if you have a recirculating pump. I would not recommend dipping multiple times if you do not have a way for the water to recirculate and filter.

  • @mrhan15
    @mrhan15 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't understand the logic that way.
    will say if the sticky side points upwards then the object that comes up first sticks,
    will just say this makes sense
    That's why I don't understand why

    • @LiquidConceptsUSA
      @LiquidConceptsUSA  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You will want the sticky side to go down on the water because when PVA gets wet it gets sticky so you want that side in the water and the ink side up so you can activate the film and correctly dip the object in the water.
