The bicameral house was converted to a unicameral house by MGR due to self motivated reason for Vennirai Adai Nirmala as he could not make her to make it through the legislative assembly. His statue was unveiled by Kalaignar during his last term (2010) and it stands aloft at the junction of Pondy Bazaar in Chennai.
