    Well this is timely. Have a happy Halloween (hallowed eve) and a wonderful All Saints Day. All Souls as well.
    Can't see the light without the dark. Ironic that they were convinced that the lay people were being tricked by the devil to do wrong. But it was they who harmed countless innocent people. Oh the devil is sly alright.

    Do a full reading please😊 people have done magic since time immemorial but the some churches wanted a monopoly on that sort of thing so they labelled it witchcraft and made it a capital crime

      A full reading of...? I assume you mean the Malleus? Working on it, its a good piece of literature.

    God apparently said thou shall not kill...how did the inquisition send people to their death? It doesn't make sense if their beliefs were so strong 🤔

    • @ASMR_Historian
      @ASMR_Historian  หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Therein lies the loophole, after confessions were extracted, the Inquisition handed the condemned over to secular courts. The inquisitors themselves were not responsible for those kinds of sentances.

    • @Bradleyey
      @Bradleyey หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      There’s always a loophole, sized just for those in power.

    • @UnsungWasp
      @UnsungWasp หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @fionabartholomew329 ... another thing to consider is the fact that Old Testament Christians didn't object to sentences of death. The misunderstanding is in the translation differences over time. An exact translation of that commandment is "thou shalt not do murder."
      So basically, it means thou shalt not do "unjustified" killing. That makes far more sense to me. If I were required to use lethal force to protect my family, I would not hesitate. And I would hate to think that act would be wrong in the eyes of God.

    • @noiceman
      @noiceman หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is a common misconception/misstating of the commandments. The commandment is "thou shall not murder." Capital punishment is not murder, and no ancient Israelite/Jewish/Christian ethical system disallows capital punishment.

      Thou shall not murder is the real version. That’s a lot different than thou shall not kill.
