The Flavian Dynasty was established by Vespasian, a military general who rose to power amid the turmoil following Nero's death in 68 AD. Vespasian was proclaimed Emperor by his legions in Judea and Egypt in 69 AD and subsequently confirmed by the Senate. He was a pragmatist known for his fiscal reforms, infrastructure projects, and consolidation of imperial authority after the civil wars that marked the end of the Julio-Claudian dynasty.

Economic and Administrative Reforms: Vespasian was notable for restoring the financial health of the empire, heavily depleted by his predecessors through excessive spending. He introduced new taxes, reformed the tax system, and conducted a census to increase state revenues.
