    Thank you for this video. I have just started to look at FBC for my new role and your video has been a great help. Would love one on LFT also. Don’t feel you need to keep them short. The more info the better. Thank you I hope this channel does well.

    Fantastic video. Have you made a video which covers the other components of a comprehensive blood test (such as liver function, kidney function, blood sugar levels, testosterone levels, blood cholesterol levels?) I had a BUPA full-body MOT a few years ago, which included a full blood count and several other blood tests. The results came in a detailed report which explained the significance of each blood test and the results, together with colour-coded charts and advice on changes to lifestyle and diet and/or recommended further medical tests/interventions. The NHS blood test results require a bit more detective work on the part of the patient to interpret the results.

      Thanks for watching! Yes check out my channel for other videos covering various blood tests. Though I must add these videos are for educating medical students and should not be taken as medical advice. Thanks

    RDW is important too, reference ranges are misleading for over 55's, shouldn't be 12.9 or higher, 30% increased risk for cancer unless steps taken to lower it, ideal reference range for that age group is 11.5 to 12.6

    Hi, what would you deduce from a low neutrophils count?

    • @medicinemadesimple6273
      @medicinemadesimple6273  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. Low neutrophils is called 'neutropenia'. It can have many causes, including aplastic anaemia, bone marrow failure, medication side effects (not an exhaustive list).

    • @kg-Whatthehelliseventhat
      @kg-Whatthehelliseventhat ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have neutropenia.
      It sucks. My wbc runs approx 1700 on a good day and my anc can run anywhere between 500-1000 maybe.
      No AIDS, cancer, but I do have an illiostomy.
      My idea mind you I have zero medical training but I have had this for 2 decades now.
      I feel that way back in the day my bowel became necrotic and the doctors gave me steroids which tanked my immune system. For years I was on high dose prednisone (forgive if spelled wrong) prilosect, previcid, 5mp,
      I know some of those are not steroids.
      After the doctors removed my bowel I was fine.
      However my immune system still sucks. If I get a cut or scratch it takes so long to heal. Munaka honey and silverdine is great stuff.
      I used to take filagrastine which kicked my ass the first 2 days but after that I was superman. Crazy bone pain.
      I feel the doctors could have done things differently and not lumped me in with others. My case was unique and by the time my appointment came I was better. I guess it is cyclic? I told them I feel like my insides are dead and I don't have the normal symptoms. They didn't want to believe a kid. I cried everything I pooped, but there was no blood. They thought I wanted to get high. I lived in Los Angeles, there are plenty of drugs on the streets. That was not my get down.
      Now that I moved from the State I have amazing doctors. I did develop a fistula and had to get another damn bag but it is OK. I have an amazing pain Dr who helps me taper and bumps up my meds during rough times.
      Please be careful with immunosuppressive medicines it is a razors edge.

    What will be the decision in febrile patient with leucocutosis but with normal differentials

    • @medicinemadesimple6273
      @medicinemadesimple6273  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Sahile, it's unusual to see normal differentials with high WCC since the WCC total is made up of the differentials
