Thanks your videos are really great, you are really great at teaching, i love the cute red blood cells animation, your channel deserve more views but probably the content you teach is within a very small field(hematology) so not that many audience compared to content like high school biology My exam has been saved by you. Thanks
I'm a lay person, but got my labs back recently and wanted a deeper analysis than, "Normal," especially since MCV was borderline high. I liked to see these values all explained as a grouping. That provides important context. Thanks. One small nit though: "mean" is not the same as "average." 🙂
What is the meaning of reverse differential ? choices is A. neutrophil higher than lymphocyte B. eosinophil higher than basophil C. monocyte higher than lymphocyte D. basophil higher than monocyte
Dude I'm seriously happy for u , the explanation and all are spot on, my whole college Batchmqtes watch ur lecture 😂, that awsome, I'll share stuff and make ur channel cross million man(
In a given blood specimen: - how many RBC are there = RBC count - total RBC volume in this sample / volume of this blood sample = Haematocrit (Hct) In a RBC: - the average volume of a RBC = MCV - the average Hb mass of a RBC = MCH Concentration: - Hb mass (g) / a liter of RBC = MCHC - Hb mass (g) / a dL of blood specimen = Hb concentration am I right?
A male patient came to the pharmacy with an lab paper and found that the volume of hemoglobin is 8 g/dL and MCV 85 and found that MCH 30 and MCHC 25 only,What type of anemia that he suffering from? ( knowing that the PCV is at a moderate level and he is 60 years old)
Thanks a lot. PCV or Hct is not only the percentage of RBCs. It also contains the Leukocytes. So PCV or Hct shows the percentage of all blood cells combined.
You are right...... But the volume ratio of platelets or leuckocytes is negligible compared to RBCs like almost 1:200 due to sheer number difference between them. So we clinically consider it as RBC volume only.
Good question...There is no difference...I prefer Hb mass...and by the way, clinically speaking, amount = mass= weight...In physics there is a difference, but not in medicine.
Okay you explained very well thank you very much for that. But the formulae, how do they work? Can you (or someone) please explain? What I can guess is that in each microlitre of blood there is one decilitre of rbc (meaning 1 dl volume of rbc is formed by 5 million cells) for the calculation of mch.
Hii… i have a Q . As MCHC is average Hb in a unit volume of rbcs irrespective of the number of rbcs in given volume ,, then in ur last analogy , shouldn’t it be that mchc is average density of air per unit volume of water? If not, plz explain it to me,, its making me a bit confused. 😊
