Bad advice. If you start before, not after, you can just reroll until you get one of the good ops on the current banner AND get another 6*. If you look into it, the new players after the third get all the other stuff except the voucher(they just get the new banner with one guaranteed 6*), so you end up with one less 6*.
the current banners arent great, yeah you can still try to snipe a strong off rate operator, but that is going to be very tedious. Newer players should spend time enjoying the game instead of min maxing for progression, and the new newbie banner is much better for both comfortability and progression.

If you already built all of your best 5* consider waiting to use your 5* training tickets for Tin Man when IS 5 releases. Relative to 5* and welfare units he's pretty strong and has a unique sub class (temporarily). In CN this happened before Pepe event which is in January but unfortunately for global it could be after Pepe event so there's no guarantee when it will be.
My recommendations: Mountain > saria (if no shu) > silverash, thorns > blaze, exusiai Mountain is the most "meta" op out of the 6: cheap dp, AoE, self healing. Highly recommended. Saria is recommended if you don't have shu. Shu is limited so you need to save 300 pulls and buy her next CNY banner. Silverash is decent with module: decent dmg, big AoE, invis reveal, fast redeploy. Keep in mind mlynar will be in gold shop soon-ish, and they are similar role. Blaze and thorns are really only for afk nowadays. Thorns takes a while to wind up but has better dmg with module, DoT, can hit air, has self-healing, but ST. Blaze is AoE dmg, good def, but lower dmg and no self-healing. Keep in mind executor alter banner is soon and he is best of both worlds: AoE, good damage, self-healing; but not afk. Exusiai scales well with buffs and can be fun if you enjoy buff stacking. But she can be hard to use since her skill is auto trigger so you have to time it.

Im not an expert but thorns is great at E3 because his S3 is his best skill while mountain and blaze are great at E2 because their S2 is their best one. All three can be used in stages the other 2 can't but they all fit the lane holder type of operators, someone made a video comparing all three plus one more op and thorns was the first one out because he can't handle a crowd of mods with blaze being the best at it but losting because can't attack air enemies. Mountain is good, but you already have Chongus, and bringing 2 brawlers into squad is questionable. I would say Thorns is better for your roster, plus he got module recently, which made him much stronger.
You should go for Thorns. Chongus and especially Zuo Le can do Mountain's work. Of course, Mountain is still very strong and can help you where the other two probably wouldn't work so well, but I think Thorns is best for your account

Don't disregard 6* operators just because they're not too powerful at elite 0 and 1, it's more important to consider their effectiveness as elite 2. Not having 6* operators carrying the squad shouldn't be a big problem for early game, and it's better for learning the game.

in my opinion i think thorns is slightly better because (assuming you’re gonna use both of them for afk) thorns can hit aerial enemies while blaze can multi-hit ground enemies. thorns can basically solo hold a lane without a help with a sniper or arts unit

Toss a coin. Heads for Thorns, Tails for Saria. Whatever the result, go for it. If the result doesn't satisfy you, the other one is what you should pick. It's a mind trick I use often, never failed me once.

My recommendation is to pick saria because blemishine is not good tank healer, if you have shu its okay to choose thorn or other thorn is very good, he mostly use for afk and farm stage very useful to atk aerial and ground, he not to good against boss

Mountain is my recommendation. He's a low DP, AoE self-healing laneholder. The other ops in the selection have fallen out of meta, but mountain will stay relevant since he does so much for 11 DP. Saria can be replaced with shu or gummy. But if you don't think you can get shu and you don't need a laneholder, saria is good too.
Go for Mountain, he's half as cheap to deploy, doesn't need any sustain most of the time and his skill only takes 5 seconds to be ready instead of taking half the stage to activate. Blaze is only preferable if you need the extra block/target count and extra range (that is, when her skill finally charges)

saria or silverash they have important role other cant fill. caster goldenglow or eyja but you can use other 5 star caster just fine saria defender healing, every heal give sp, and art dmg amplifier silverash niche to reveal invisible enemy nowdays there are handfull invisible enemy, also big aoe dmg
With his module SA is pretty much a slightly worse Młynar with the boons of extra arts damage and invisibility reveal,(and the redeploy playstyle) if you find fun the idea of having (kinda) two Młynars or don't have any invis revealer go for him, since you have Thorns and Surtr I don't think you're gonna need Blaze for anything.
SA got a big module upgrade this past update. Blaze is kinda a relic now. She's only useful if you need both a 3-block AND constant DMG output in 1 unit.
The one you use the most? Other than that, I would say Mountain. He is an early game operator, and you want to place him as soon as possible, so he benefits from -1 cost more, than others
Depends on who else you already have on your acc. Imo, MTN and Thorn are almost equal. If you need range and aerial hit with great single target DMG more, Thorn; if you need drop and forget, ultra cheap to start (10DP), massive close quarter DMG, reliable self-regen, then Mountain. Thorn for more hassle and possibly more use cases, Mountain for piss easy gameplay and stage start.

I would recommend Thorns, since with s3 he is the king of annihilations, which you'll be focused on for a long time. Ulpianus is a long term investment, and I don't think he is your top priority now.
Saria would be REALLY useful for you as a new player. She can tank well and her second skill can heal all operators in range plus the SP recovery she grants you on E2
check out the info about the anniversary banner which will drop in january (featured ops: Pepe[limited guard] and narantuya) If you like their design and gameplay pull for them instead, but i must say that ulpianus will be pretty useful in high end content like integrated strategies
If you already have some Abyssal Hunter ops or Gladiia at best (she is free op from Under Tides event), Ulpianus is a really nice choice Later on, we'll get a limited banner, Pepe and soon after will be collab banner Dungeon Meshi. Look at the future banner and see if you really need / like then decide whether you want Ulpi! I suggest not pulling Ulpi cuz you seem to lack some arts damage, maybe grab a Thorns (better version of Lappland with high investment) or wait for better caster etc. Good luck!
I mean, every unit can reveal invisible when blocking, you dont need SA specifically for that. Also there is 4* Totter for that, everyone should have him, unless really new player. Ofc it all depends on your roster and playstyle - but me, for example, in last 2 years I used SA few times just for fun, but Thorns is my go-to Guard on every stage of every mode.
New welfare operator is a sentry defender, same branch as Jessicat. which means her module will reveal invisible units. I don't know if you're interested in building that operator at all, but maybe knowing this will help you choosing. edit: also, with the double level-up tickets we get for free, you can level up that welfare operator instantly and spend resources only to unlock the module.

Thorn is way better but blaze is more convinient, no need to click skill, just deploy and afk. For Thorn you need to wait and click skill twice.

Whatever the result, go for it. If the result doesn't satisfy you, the other one is what you should pick.

new-ish player here. is thorns still recommended to get if i have degenbrecher and s.ash? I've been raising lotsa guards but then they have different subclasses too so idk
My recommendation is to pick saria because blemishine is not good tank healer, if you have shu its okay to choose thorn or other
thorn is very good, he mostly use for afk and farm stage very useful to atk aerial and ground, he not to good against boss

Mountain is my recommendation. He's a low DP, AoE self-healing laneholder. The other ops in the selection have fallen out of meta, but mountain will stay relevant since he does so much for 11 DP.
Saria can be replaced with shu or gummy. But if you don't think you can get shu and you don't need a laneholder, saria is good too.

Go for Mountain, he's half as cheap to deploy, doesn't need any sustain most of the time and his skill only takes 5 seconds to be ready instead of taking half the stage to activate. Blaze is only preferable if you need the extra block/target count and extra range (that is, when her skill finally charges)

saria or silverash they have important role other cant fill. caster goldenglow or eyja but you can use other 5 star caster just fine
saria defender healing, every heal give sp, and art dmg amplifier
silverash niche to reveal invisible enemy nowdays there are handfull invisible enemy, also big aoe dmg

My acc is acc pretty set but missing both blaze and SA, which still better? Closes i got to SA is my mlynar and Thorns, Surtr for blaze
With his module SA is pretty much a slightly worse Młynar with the boons of extra arts damage and invisibility reveal,(and the redeploy playstyle) if you find fun the idea of having (kinda) two Młynars or don't have any invis revealer go for him, since you have Thorns and Surtr I don't think you're gonna need Blaze for anything.
Only get Silverash for his reveal tbh
SA got a big module upgrade this past update. Blaze is kinda a relic now. She's only useful if you need both a 3-block AND constant DMG output in 1 unit.

mountain is more consider as afk cheap lane defender because mudrock are high dp cost. While the same class chongyue are more attacker

The one you use the most? Other than that, I would say Mountain. He is an early game operator, and you want to place him as soon as possible, so he benefits from -1 cost more, than others

Depends on who else you already have on your acc. Imo, MTN and Thorn are almost equal. If you need range and aerial hit with great single target DMG more, Thorn; if you need drop and forget, ultra cheap to start (10DP), massive close quarter DMG, reliable self-regen, then Mountain.
Thorn for more hassle and possibly more use cases, Mountain for piss easy gameplay and stage start.

I would recommend Thorns, since with s3 he is the king of annihilations, which you'll be focused on for a long time. Ulpianus is a long term investment, and I don't think he is your top priority now.
Next joint operation banner and summer event bunner look better for new players, so maybe saving is the best option
Saria would be REALLY useful for you as a new player. She can tank well and her second skill can heal all operators in range plus the SP recovery she grants you on E2
check out the info about the anniversary banner which will drop in january (featured ops: Pepe[limited guard] and narantuya)
If you like their design and gameplay pull for them instead, but i must say that ulpianus will be pretty useful in high end content like integrated strategies
If you already have some Abyssal Hunter ops or Gladiia at best (she is free op from Under Tides event), Ulpianus is a really nice choice
Later on, we'll get a limited banner, Pepe and soon after will be collab banner Dungeon Meshi. Look at the future banner and see if you really need / like then decide whether you want Ulpi!
I suggest not pulling Ulpi cuz you seem to lack some arts damage, maybe grab a Thorns (better version of Lappland with high investment) or wait for better caster etc. Good luck!

Go for Sillywash if you already have good laneholders
I mean, every unit can reveal invisible when blocking, you dont need SA specifically for that. Also there is 4* Totter for that, everyone should have him, unless really new player. Ofc it all depends on your roster and playstyle - but me, for example, in last 2 years I used SA few times just for fun, but Thorns is my go-to Guard on every stage of every mode.
New welfare operator is a sentry defender, same branch as Jessicat. which means her module will reveal invisible units.
I don't know if you're interested in building that operator at all, but maybe knowing this will help you choosing.
edit: also, with the double level-up tickets we get for free, you can level up that welfare operator instantly and spend resources only to unlock the module.
