    What antenna were you using ....and what is the 27 after the signal report ?

      The antenna was an end fed. The contest needed a Zone (based on the ITU zone list). The UK is in zone 27. So for this contest you needed your signal report and zone, but the LZ stations had to give their post code...

    Totally new to this but you seemed to alternate in your use of phonetics between Mexico & Mike for the letter 'M'. Any reason for this?

      Yes... the reason is Mike is the proper phonetic, but is easily lost due to it being one syllable. Mexico (three syllables) is far easier to hear
