- Komodo is a very special island in Indonesia. It is known for the giant lizards, which still look very much like dinosaurs: the Komodo dragon. But there is much more to see! The landscape is incredibly beautiful, you can climb volcanoes and there are some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. In this episode I take you along the most beautiful places of Komodo National Park and show you how you can make this trip yourself from Bali or Flores. From the place Labuan Bajo we go on various tours, we see the Komodo dragons and we swim with giant manta rays!
We are visiting Indonesia during a one year world tour and maybe we will even continue to travel indefinitely. On New Year's Day we started in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands. Then you saw us in Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago, Grenada, Bahamas, United States, Mexico, Ecuador, Galapagos Islands, Brazil, Qatar and Thailand. Indonesia is already our seventeenth destination. Follow us on this world trip, first to Bali, the rest of Indonesia and then to many more beautiful destinations! We also cross to Oceania and Africa! the most beautiful places on this planet are those that are left natural... I hope the Indonesia protects it from any future development.
There are still many natural islands and beaches in Indonesia, they re Papua, Sulawesi and Sumatra, which is why these three are less popular as tourist destinations. but, it's good that those places still natural From tourists when compared to Thailand, Bali whose beaches are all full of resorts and businesses

A problem would be that we use a microphone for speech, but the other ones would normally record not much more than wind or white noise. To really capture good surrounding sounds might be a challenge. A bit more could be an idea though. Thanks for the tip! I'm looking to see if I could plan a trip to these islands, spending some time in Bali, want to include Yogyarkata, Lombok (Gillies) and Sumba. Would love to include Raja Ampat but think it would be too difficult.
Hi Noeline, sorry for the delayed response. Yes that’s right. We stayed at World Bnb, with the pool and some private rooms + dorms. I would love to go to Raja Ampat as well some day. We’ll return to Indonesia for sure as traveling is just too addictive 😜🤙🏻
In travelling to Komodo , could you recommend some good guide with a boat ? I can see online is too expensive and many people recommended booking directly when arrive to the island with the plane on the other hand how many days would you recommend ?

Hi Kelsey! Yes, this was all planned by ourselves. We just booked a flight from Denpasar to Labuan Bajo and the little hotel we booked online at Booking. The tour was booked at East Cruises. We did that online 😃👍🏻 I think that’s about all you need. And of course use Grab or taxi’s.

Why are these islands so dry and arid, the complete opposite of Bali and Lombok
Komodo Dragons are not even remotely related to dinosaurs.. but dinosaurs are the same lineage as birds, so not even extinct
Haha please don’t take this too scientifically. Large reptiles who can kil a human on an island, that’s the comparison here with Jurassic Park. A movie in which we all learned that they are related to birds. So many people nowadays search for things to correct, but there is no need to 😁🤙🏻 happy travels!
