I love the american style of presentation. Simple, Clear, Instructive on the point. In germany this would take a 3 year apprenticeshipt after which you are so confused by all the shit you have to learn, that they just thow in as volume to fill the classes or to tell you something of use, you are never confident enough to make decisions based on that knowledge. I speak from expierience.

Yeah, that’s about right. Ask five instructors and you will get 5 different answers and 10 reasons why the other guys are wrong. In the end you are none the wiser and need to make up your own mind. And one if these days YOU are one if the 5 guys that gets asked their opinion. Thus the circle continues.
It also depends heavily on the instructors. Had some fast flip through reams of Powerpoint slides going „No…no…Don’t need that…Oh yeah, you might wanna check this one out…This is stupid…irrelevant…no…no…nice theory but doesn’t work…don’t need that either…no…“
Then others say „Well this is what they teach you. Nothing wrong with that but that’s not how WE do it here.“

One thing I can say is volunteer as soon as you can(I’m 16) I volunteer at my local station, they do 14-15 cadet program, and 16-17 jr fire fighter program, with it I get my certification such as aed/cpr, first aid, hazmat, and blood borne pathogens. I also get in field experience, gear training(I hope to get my scba training soon) and all kinds of other stuff like just last night see took our new engine out and I learned how to pull a supply line and hook up to a hydrant. I can also go on fire calls.

      What?

You're kidding, right? The purpose of this drill is to make sure that a firefighter can get their gear on quickly and properly in a situation where every second counts and if they put it on improperly they might die. Also, most firefighters are volunteers, not government employees.

@@davidstorrs if every second counts why not wear the equipment at work, and also why are they allowed to sleep at work? Remember every second counts right?

@@ptech88 I honestly can't tell if you're trolling or not... Firefighters and their equipment stay at the firehouse until a fire is called in. Firefighter shifts are 24 hours, meaning that they need to sleep during their shift. They don't wear their full turn-out gear at all times because it's heavy, uncomfortable, and gets in the way of normal activities. It's something you put on when the fire bell goes off to announce that there is a fire and everyone needs to get on the truck.

@@davidstorrs so every second doesnt count if it’s uncomfortable. Ok i get it thx
