Trying out the antique seeder on the farm

- I bought an old Fred Cain Grain Drill/Seeder for the farm. I'm hoping to get some wheat and oats to grow through the farm for both deer and the cows.

Hey y'all, I've been a collector since I was 12. I love all the old farm equipment. I love the antique power shows that feature old tractors and farm implements. The history and engineering involved and how different equipment is needed depending upon the goals your farm has and the things you need to be able to do. Just rolling the field after seeding would improve your soil contact. A good rain right after would be best. Don't till. You destroy the microbial benefits that have managed to build up over the years it hasn't been disturbed. You can't buy that in a bag! There is a You Tube video on a fellow who married into farming who managed to get it right only because he couldn't afford to till. He's in one of the Dakota ' s and raises Herefords or Angus and is a much sought-after speaker on returning to nature farming tours. Sorry I can't remember more, but you've got a better breed of cattle than he does for foraging and you have a better climate so anything he does should easily apply to what you are trying to do. Good luck finding him and much success in your endevours.

Quite a contraption
Those look a little like pipe bending tubes to me. I know they aren’t and also not their intended purpose but they might work to replace those parts. Also an anti-kink spring (assuming the spacing between coils is small enough) might work for you. If they really are just springs to funnel seeds, (as it looks like in the video), making your own with a drill and wire might be an option? Anyways, love your videos, love your cows, hope that calf is doing better and has all it’s hair back! :)
Note to add: on the options I listed, always check to make sure the springs will be long enough before purchase. Saves a small headache
The calf took a trip back to the vet on Saturday but still improving. I'm not certain yet but I think I might have found a plastic replacement part online

Did the seed germinate nicely?
Unless you would drink roundup, don't use it in that or any other field where you feed ANYTHING you plan on eating. PLEASE, PLEASE don't use chemicle anywhere around your animals. Think of your kids eating that garbage.
What are you even posting thuis rubbish for. You are just wasting the space.
