I just got my first electric kick scooter last week. As always excellent review. Got my heart set on the Nami Burn Max though. With Kaabo Wolf GT close on its heals. I'm hoping taur well their projected tail light as a seperate component as it would look boss on the Nami.
This suspension really changes the scooter. The jumpy nature of the previous suspension was pretty standard across dual motor scooters for a while, but I'll bet just about everything goes hydraulic in 2023! -Paul
Oh yeah, for sure. The Mantis Pro was a little intense on throttle control. This is much more like the Wolf King GT, but even smoother throttle, since there's a bit less power. -Paul
Thanks Alex! I just finished testing the KQi3 MAX. It's not the sort of MAX I thought it would be. Usually it's the same scooter + more miles. The MAX will give you the miles if you keep the speed the same as before, but the thing that surprised me was that there is also increased performance! We'll have a review out very soon. -Paul
Apollo Phantom V2 is also very comparable, some might say better, LOL You mentioned it briefly in the review but it didn't make the cut somehow in your 3 alternate suggestions for some reason. Can't wait for V3, myself so I bought a V2 and preordered the V3 upgrade kit !
I chose the Eagle One Pro over this because of the same range and 500 cheaper, only downside is there’s no turn signal on the Eagle One Pro, and it’s 15lbs heavier.
Did you get the Eagle One Pro yet? I'm curious what it's like with hydraulic shocks. The one we had was pre-production and didn't have hydraulic shocks. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Yes! I had to loosen them a bit because I’m a lighter rider. Hi Paul - I really appreciate your depth of detail you share regarding the various products available to us. I currently have a deposit in the new Apollo Pro 2023 model. Currently I ride the Boosted Rev. Would you recommend I wait for your review of the Apollo Pro or purchase this new Mantis? Do you know when this will be available for us to purchase? Any idea if you will be able to review the Apollo Pro anytime soon? Dying to see your review. Thanks again! I appreciate all your videos and the time and effort it takes to produce.
Not a fan of yellow so I am glad they make them in black too. Happy it weighs about 10Lbs less than the Vsett, but I'll pass due to the price and would only order if it was closer to $2200.
The gold Mantis pro looks good, better then the black. However the yellow on the new King GT is too much in my opinion since it's all over the place so yes I'm liking the black more too but for the Mantis King only.
So glad I watched this video I almost purchased one of these untill I clicked on the vid and watched that screen shake around . Cancelled my kart and just purchased the Nami instead....legit the screen shaking heaps was the reason I pulled out of buying one of these. People can say what ever they want but at the end of the day I purchased another Nami because of that screen shake.
Thanks JQ! We covered 36.6 miles in top performance mode. It should be in the review somewhere. Our test course is tough. 1.6 mile urban loop with 92 ft of elevation gain (and 92 ft of elevation loss of course) per lap, so the scooters have to work pretty hard. -Paul
Hi Paul, love your video. Thanks for posting and reviewing the new Mantis King. Just one question based on your experience. The mantis King or the Wolf Warrior GT Pro? Thanks buddy. 👍🏽😎
Hi Franky G. I haven't ridden the Warrior GT Pro, but have ridden the regular Warrior 11+ and the Wolf King GT Pro, so I have a pretty good guess what it's like. The Warrior GT Pro is a lot heavier and less portable, but even more stable than the Mantis at high speeds. If you're doing a ton of high speed riding, or a ton of long range riding, the Warrior will be more comfortable. The Mantis will be sportier, ore agile and much more portable. Then there's the Wolf Warrior X! I'd be really torn between the Mantis King GT and the X. At the moment, I think the Mantis King GT may be best of all worlds for a wide variety of riding types. But.... if you were mainly doing a lot of high speed rides, or mainly doing really long rides where you're just piling on the miles, then the Warrior X and Warrior GT Pro start making more sense. That's my personal taste. All are really great scooters. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thank you Paul for your quick response. Great explanation of the scooter, but maybe I should have mentioned that I weigh 240lbs and I’m 6’ tall. Not soo much looking for top speed, tho it’s nice to have. Mainly looking for it to have the power to pull my weight up hills and definitely would like it to have range. Hope this info will helped. Does the choice change now any from the three you mentioned? I think the worrier X might be a bit small for me, so it’s down to the Worrior GT pro and the mantis king GT. Thanks!
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide lol I figured it would change things a bit. Sorry, should have mentioned that in the beginning. Thank you soo much for your response. Hey Paul - hope you’re well and great review! Just wondering, you mentioned that it has no front turn signals. I just checked out a King GT at a store here in Melbourne and the front deck lights flash as turn signals. Was this not the case on the pre production model? Also…. Range question. I’m 87kg and ride at 35-45kph usually. Give or take. Should I expect around 60km range in dual motor mode?
if it can only have a range like the Emove then it will be one the best scooter for me , too bad I live in NYC where you have to go up the stairs that means I need a lighter scooter.
I really like everything here except... tubed tires in this price range. if the emove cruiser can go tubeless for $1400 then at 2500 the mantis king should be able to pull off tubeless at that pricepoint. honestly i think after a lot of research in what i want to add to my little pEV fleet, currently missing a scooter ,the mantis king with tubeless would tick all the boxes and get my $ (preferably the puncture proof ones from the wolf king pro).
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Tubeless with slime will gives you more protection, but the devided rim is very useful for maintenance, in case of changing tires. For what I've heard the hybrid tyres are much less vulnerable to getting a flat.
Hi Smiley, Strangely, there are very few light-heavyweight scooters with tubeless tires. The only dual motor 10" tubeless designs that come to mind are the Minimotors Dualtron III, the new Apollo City, which is sort of in a category of its own, and then there's the Yinke i5, which I'm testing now. As far as I can tell, it uses the same tires as the Dualtron III, but I haven't tested a Dualtron III, so I'm not 100% sure. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide nice looking forward to the review. I have a wierd set of needs like with my ebike. Commute of 11.6 miles each way and then I need to carry the scooter up 5 stories. Wanting to be able to hit at least 40 mph, and have at least 30 mile range. Dual motor and tubeless tires a huge plus. Also being 265 lbs has to handle my weight which affects range (started the year at 285 and still losing weight)
Thank you for the comprehensive review and great responsiveness to comments. It has been about a year and a half since you did this review. Are there any upgrades to this scooter since then, or updates to your review? Has the flapping rear fender been corrected? Also, for mostly street riding with smooth-ish off-road trails, would you recommend the street tires or the knobby tires?
We're curious what the production fenders will look like. The pre-production fenders we had were a little too close to the hybrid off-road tires. But we love the way they look and the protection! -Paul
Hi Simon, Great question! Looking at the manual just now, it appears that you can set the current limit for front and rear motors to different levels from each other, and choose these levels for each of the 5 riding modes, but I haven't tried it. -Paul
As a heavier rider around 230 I'm looking at this, the Vsett 10+ and Wolf Warrior X GT. Just concerned about the latter's portability. I'm leaning towards vsett. I also want good range. Any suggestions?
Vsett is quicker to higher speeds, but has a lower top speed than the Mantis King GT -Paul Vsett MK GT 15mph 1.9 1.9 20 mph 2.9 3.0 25 mph 3.9 4.1 30 mph 5.3 5.8 35 mph 7.2 7.9 40 mph 10.3 11.6
In and around the shock mounts. It's the upper and lower pivot points (shock mounts) which were squeaking on ours. I would keep lubricant away from the shaft of the shock, in case it's not compatible with the seal. -Paul
This scooter is so fucking sick . I was gona get a Nami burn e 2 next but for a thousand less with similar features an specs I’m grabbing this instead because its deff a better value even tho the Nami is better.
What is that big wire above the charge ports going into the right side under the deck. That looks like an accident waiting to happen… could accidentally stepping on that and tearing it out cause some major $$ damage?? I was just about to pre order one and saw that on their website pics and came back to your video to see if it was in your review ..am I worried over nothing?
Honestly as cook as this looks I couldn't get the Taur out of my head. Kept thinking"what if the turn signals projected on your back and you rode it bicycle peg style."
Hi, how much more miles can I get out of the Mantis King GT compared to my 18.2ah Mantis Pro SE? And can I ride the Mantis King GT in light rain? Is the headlight waterproof? I'm afraid getting water in headlight can short circuit the whole scooter.
Another great review! Thank you sir… I ride Nami burn e 2 max. Looking for a second scooter. What is stem height of mantis king? Deck to handlebar of Nami is 43” I believe. I’m tall 6’5”
hey, I have a question about the range test, how do you guys usually do them?, do you guys ride full speed, so the 36 miles that the mantis king gt got, was it hardcore riding?

Hi William, That's a great question. It's a lot faster, so off the top of my head, I'd say that motor controllers have got to be different. I don't think the X is running 30 amps per controller, but I'm not sure how many amps it has! Now I'm very curious. I'll compare motor part numbers next week, and also find out how many amps the X is using. The old Mantis Pro was 27A per controller, so I'd guess it was that many or fewer for the X base. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Cheers Paul. The warrior x base does run 2 x 30Amp sine wave controllers and a 60V battery, (That's the reason I bought one, sinewave controllers) top speed is 71kph as tested by you guys, an that's exactly how fast it goes for me too. The voltage sag from the batrery on this new mantis would be less I predict with it's bigger sized cells, so that would account for a little better acceleration and a fraction higher top speed?

I really wish you could could do a video reviewing a lot (any?) of the after market stuff that can be found for scooters. Like custom BMS's, upgrades, homemade batteries, light accessories - ANYTHING!!
Maybe one day possibly!
As always excellent review. Got my heart set on the Nami Burn Max though. With Kaabo Wolf GT close on its heals. I'm hoping taur well their projected tail light as a seperate component as it would look boss on the Nami.
Thank you so much Jason!
I agree! I think it would be cool if TAUR licensed their patent on the tail light to other companies! -Paul

This big of an upgrade to tie the 10+ in a considerable amount of areas. The next iteration of the 10+ should be fun.
For sure! Thanks for watching. -Vosk
I had the mantis pro. Returned it. Way to jumpy. I rode the wolf king gt loved the smoothness
This suspension really changes the scooter. The jumpy nature of the previous suspension was pretty standard across dual motor scooters for a while, but I'll bet just about everything goes hydraulic in 2023! -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide ya I mostly mean the acceleration wasn't smooth

Ty for the fantastic review, you guys always knock it out of the park!
Do you guys have plans to review the new KQI3 Max anytime soon?
Thanks Alex!
I just finished testing the KQi3 MAX. It's not the sort of MAX I thought it would be. Usually it's the same scooter + more miles. The MAX will give you the miles if you keep the speed the same as before, but the thing that surprised me was that there is also increased performance!
We'll have a review out very soon. -Paul
The best electric scooter channel for sure

Apollo Phantom V2 is also very comparable, some might say better, LOL You mentioned it briefly in the review but it didn't make the cut somehow in your 3 alternate suggestions for some reason. Can't wait for V3, myself so I bought a V2 and preordered the V3 upgrade kit !
Phantom is a excellent scooter! -Vosk
Please note that the motor and gear settings reset everytime you start the scooter. Other than that, it looks great!
This is not tunable in the settings?
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Well you guys had the scooter... tell us :D ??
I chose the Eagle One Pro over this because of the same range and 500 cheaper, only downside is there’s no turn signal on the Eagle One Pro, and it’s 15lbs heavier.
Did you get the Eagle One Pro yet? I'm curious what it's like with hydraulic shocks. The one we had was pre-production and didn't have hydraulic shocks. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Yes! I had to loosen them a bit because I’m a lighter rider. It’s my first scooter so I can’t really compare it to others, I can ride it pretty easily over gravel roads and off-road, riding on the street is amazingly smooth! I get about 25-30 miles in the mountains with huge hills, does 30mph up the steepest hills.

Mantis king is slightly next level to be honest but Vsett is also an excellent scooter. -Vosk

Hi the scooter should be released in the first quarter of 2023 and we will be reviewing it before it hits the public.
Not a fan of yellow so I am glad they make them in black too. Happy it weighs about 10Lbs less than the Vsett, but I'll pass due to the price and would only order if it was closer to $2200.
Many other options for sure!
Excellent video. great review keep them coming. 👍👍

What was the range test on this scooter? Don't think I saw that. Really appreciate this review!
Thanks!
Ahhhh, that changes things a little. I'd start leaning back a little more toward Warrior GT Pro, but still think either would be good. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide lol I figured it would change things a bit. Sorry, should have mentioned that in the beginning. Thank you soo much for your response. @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide would you consider this over the vsett 10
We had the earlier unit. You should get a lot of range if you go modest speeds.
We need a range test with big guy on the scooter. We're pushing 220+ over here bro 💯 lol
We're working on getting a >200lb tester to join the team! -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide or suit up a heavy schoolbag!!
Trust me I'm tired of seeing small mfs and no big dawgs hill climbing that's what really matters
if it can only have a range like the Emove then it will be one the best scooter for me , too bad I live in NYC where you have to go up the stairs that means I need a lighter scooter.
The battle between weight and range is a tough one! -Paul
Yes we also like tubeless tires! -Vosk
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
Tubeless with slime will gives you more protection,
but the devided rim is very useful for maintenance,
in case of changing tires.
For what I've heard the hybrid tyres are much less vulnerable to getting a flat.
Hi Smiley,
Strangely, there are very few light-heavyweight scooters with tubeless tires.
Glad it was helpful!
Street tires for sure!
Finally fenders seem ok. The previous fenders have really been a joke in the rain, no idea how the shorter ones were even accepted in design
We're curious what the production fenders will look like. The pre-production fenders we had were a little too close to the hybrid off-road tires.
But we love the way they look and the protection!

Same running gear (motors and controllers) as the wolf warrior x base?
Hi William,
That's a great question. -Paul
