I have owned Goldwings, Concours, CBR1000RR, a Blackbird, a Triumph Tiger, BMWs, 2 Valkyries, 2 VTXs, and two Harley’s. Currently a 2002 Fatboy. There’s nothing that comes close to the sound, soul, feel, etc…I love my Twin Cam. I could care less about torque and speed. I love my Harley. I think Harley’s just look the best out of all bikes. I love the older Harley’s myself, less plastic and fairing…I love the RoadKings too. I know I’ve ridden over 600,000 miles on many different bikes. Yes the Goldwings are awesome but I no longer eat up a 1000 miles a day or 16,000 miles in a month on super long trips. Now I just savor my Fatboy like an old fine aged wine. ……….you know what I mean by just savoring the sound and the feel of the wind on a Harley? I bet ya do.
I’ll be 70 next month but my wife and I still enjoy zipping around the beach roads on our 2003 Anniversary silver and black Wide Glide here along the South Carolina coast where we live. The bike is old just like me but as I say to people, we’re still ‘Maintaining’.

Iv'e ridden metric and sport bikes my whole life even raced them .... two weeks ago i traded in my 2022 gen 3 Hayabusa on a 24 Fatboy . This may sound crazy but in a way - riding a sport bike and jumping on this Harley is a learning curve per se . what I mean by that is the power band and Torque are so different you almost ride them different if that makes sense. So far I'm loving the comfort and overall experience ... it is a bad ass looking machine too !!
Same for me. I have a 2019 Sport Glide and Yamaha FZ8 Anniversary. Riding wise, they are apples to oranges. They are so different that you can legitimately justify owning both bikes!😁 The true litmus test came from my wife (a non rider) who has commented on numerous occasions that the two bikes are so different (looks and sound from her perspective).
I've been in love with Harley's since I could walk, sitting on the back of the old mans heritage softail as he rode up the driveway to the shed after work as a kid, the sound and soul draws me to them... that rumble takes me straight back to my childhood.. Currently on a LAMS metric cruiser (XVS650), but tossing up between a road king, street glide or street bob once restrictions are off... the options are endless and they're all beautiful in their own ways...

Of course its all about the sound! In fact, the start-up and idle of my softail are my ringtone and alarm on my phone.
For me it is a combination of things. In no particular order: The Harley mystique. The sound & torque as you say. Cruising is my style, and Harley knows cruisers.
Finally, maybe I should lump this in with the mystique, but there's just something that draws me to riding a Harley. I've owned Honda and Suzuki, road and dirt bikes. There just is nothing quite like a Harley. Probably some of the things that turn others away from them draws me (and others apparently) to them. It is great that we all can find our ride.
Missing my 99 Road King which I owned for 17 years and put about 80,000 mi. on. Am returning to an HD soon. Have been on BMW's, Triumph's and others for the last few years, which have all been great bikes in their own right but missing the sensations/feelings/attitude that comes with a Harley!! Love your channel!
I ride a metric V-twin cruiser, but it still has a lot of torque which is what I like about it.
Easy to ride is the perfect description, and I never feel tense commuting to work everyday like I did on my naked bike where it was always a balancing act with rev ranges
Thank you for your interesting content, I’ve ridden Harleys for 30 years and there large, loud, and look badass and when you ride Harley Davidson you become part of a community or family w other Harley riders that share your passion. The fit and finish on them is excellent compared to other manufacturers but the most important to me is how I feel when I ride my Harley I feel cool and maybe it’s a ego boost but a lot of chicks dig Harleys and you’ll see guys giving you that “ I wish I was riding that bike” look. Total strangers come up in parking lots to tell you how cool your bike looks. I think a lot of people wish they could get on that bad ass machine and ride like the wind.
For me, the hydraulic tappets & belt drive are a big plus. And resale value is very reasonable. For some people, owning a H-D is a symbol of accomplishment in life (eg you have paid for all life's essentials, the kids have grown up and left home and you have rewarded yourself by owning a H-D). And most of all, by owning a H-D I qualify to own an Old Not Dead stubbie holder :)

I started on Harley_Davidson during the pandemic on a Sporster Roadster XL 1200. Since I never riden anything else bigger than a 650cc. Once I was comfortable I traded it in for a new 2023 Breakout and it is an amazing ride!
HD is a huge part of your soul. The sound, the mystique, and all that machismo! Most of my early life was on metric dirt bikes - I just liked the off-road grit. But, being grayer now, it's more street time & HD is the only way I'll ride, on my XL 1200V 72!
I purchased my very first bike on my 50th birthday. A 115 anniversary sportster 48! I learned how to ride and damn i should've started earlier! But my 2nd bike will be a new DIRT GLIDE! That Pan America looks great! I won't even consider any other Brand!

I have a 1999 FXSTC. I have had many other bikes, but the Harley is the most comfortable. Nothing like a nice lazy ride through the countryside on a hot summer day.

Harley Davidson is among the best overall motorcycle manufacturers in the world. There are many reasons for this assessment I cannot cover them all in a mere post. Moreover, with Harley-Davidson's rich history, and positive innovation towards continuing to build the best motorcycles silences most critics.
Harley-Davidson has been building strong, graceful, and superior performing 2-wheelers for 120 years. The timid, envious and ignorant just don't, nor, will ever understand what it is to own and ride a Harley-Davidson. Their loss. This fact will unlikely never change as not everyone can ride a Harley-Davidson.
I hope Harley-Davidson continues to adhere to their core values for another 100+ years and not conform to our current world. A multitude who look down on Harley-Davidson are unhappy people and do not really care about motorcycles and those who ride them.
Countless people have found blissful satisfaction in life by riding a Harley-Davidson. For such individuals, not riding a Harley-Davidson may lead to prolonged depression and unhappiness. Great video, love Harleys too. Had Hondas and Yamahas that were nice, but my Harleys have a more long-legged, easy-going feel and charachter. They are relaxing to ride with only 2 cylinders turning at low revs, you sense a natural cadenence, like a galloping horse. I think that is why people say Harley's have more soul. I like to say i ride for the endorphins (relaxed pleasure). People who want more speed, I would say, ride more for adrenalin. Multi cylinder bikes having to spin faster with more moving parts just seem more buzzy and busy, so i find it harder to relax on. And for me, the purest sound was a shovelhead with a set of python pipes. But most every Harley has a distinctive sound I enjoy if its not too loud. Ride safe my friend!

I have had all sorts of bikes over the years. I have come back to Harleys. I have always loved them , the sound, the look, the feel and I guess the romantic image too. Of all my bikes they are the ones that “pull the crowd” non bikers like them and bikers always have an opinion - even if it’s wrong 🤣 or based on ignorance. Love t bits 😊
I own a V twin 96b Night Train. I really love the sound it makes. The evolution made a fantastic sound while riding as well.

2015 Ultra Classic Low with a 110 stage 4 Twin Cam...
I've owned quite a few motorcycles. Mostly metric bikes until about 5 years ago. The last metric bike I had was a Roadstar Silverado 1700 (Yamaha)., which by the way, vibrated the mirrors more than my Harley. I traded that for my first ever Harley Davidson Roadglide. After a couple years, I decided on a lighter bike and now have the Heritage 114. II won't say I'll never have another metric or "other" motorcycle, but I will ALWAYS have my Harley. Nothing else comes close in my humble opinion. My only regret is that I didn't discover this sooner. Whatever you ride, enjoy and keep the shiny side up.
I got a 97 Heritage Evo and a 2021 Ultra M8 both have stage 2 cams love the sound of both . M8 with a Cr 485 is sweet...
My '76 Super Glide has the better sound over the Twin Cam 88 I had and the Milwaukee 8 I have now. Still have the shovel head, but it is in states of repair. Funny, but you can identify a shovel just by the sound.

I have an 06 Springer Classic, its a work of art but a good motorcycle it is not. I also have an 08 XR1200, probably the best air cooled Sportster and I love it but again as a motorcycle it's average at best.
The Springer is stage 2, with cams etc but stock mufflers, the XR is stage 1 with a proper tune and homologated 2 into 1 exhaust. They both sound nice imo, there's no need for stupid loud pipes for a Harley to sound nice.

I've been looking for another bike now after selling all my bikes when moving out of state. All I can afford are the old metric V-twin cruisers. And they don't look bad, never had one but I hear they're reliable. I never realized that the Japanese brands all made copies of the Harley, anyone own one?

On my H-D I pulled up to someone waiting for me to go on a ride, he didnt see me as i pulled up beside him and he thought there was thunder .
I have to be honest, I'm nearly 100% convinced my next bike should be an Indian Pursuit, but what's holding me back is that the idea of not having a Harley anymore makes me sad for reasons I can't articulate. And I think those are the really compelling reasons why we love these things; the ones we can't quite put our finger on or explain to anyone who doesn't already know.
Its why Harleys make the potato potato sound and metrics make fish and chips sound lol

Don’t be afraid of talking about other makes of cruisers it will expand your audience and content. Obviously you can’t go to a HOG meeting on a MotoGuzi but perhaps they should allow other brands to expand their membership and perhaps make some more converts to HD.
While I get what you're saying I'd have to disagree, its called Harley Owners Group (HOG) for a reason, if they allowed someone that doesn't own a Harley but, lets say, a Yamaha in, it wouldn't be HOG it would change to Motorcycle Owners Group.
My poor man’s Harley is a vstar 650 cruiser with van Hines pipes no baffles ,sounds great looks great and to be honest it was all I could afford so very happy with it but I’m seeing the bias on the road not only the power rangers but even the Harley riders don’t give a wave or nod it’s not that bad is it?
Maybe extra loud pipes are subjective? As I’ve got older I admit my short shots are deafening but I wouldn’t be changing mine even purely for the safety aspect and people hearing me coming 👍
@@vadersfather1248 I personally give everyone the wave regardless of the bike they're on, whether its a Harley, Sport bike or any other brand cruiser, yes even vstar riders get the wave from me there's nothing wrong with the bike, the only times I don't is when I'm actively using my clutch because I don't have a free hand but I will give a head nod at the least. at the end of the day we all decided to put a container of flammable liquid on top of an engine on 2 wheels and shove the whole thing between our legs. I don't take it personal when the wave isn't given back to me sometimes people are in their own little world and didn't notice, or just didn't see you at all I'm sure I've missed a few that I didn't even know about lol. Most brands, at least the big ones, have their own version of HOG anyway that you need their brand to be in, that's why they call it the group they do, it's up to the rider to decide to branch out though, even though I have owned 3 Harleys (including my current one) I have never joined HOG because there are so many other groups out there and they are way more diverse when it comes to bikes, take for instance my AmVets post, everyone in the riders group rides a cruiser sure but they're not all Harley's and there's no bylaw that says no sport bikes, buddy of mine is going on our next ride with his Ninja 1000. (reply ended up being longer than I expected, I apologize)

Btw I had a dragstar 1100, the most comfortable bike I've ever had, I was convinced by my mates to go down the Harley route but I miss the Yamaha, shouldn't have given in to peer pressure and you shouldn't either.

If you're thinking about a road glide test ride both a road and street glide see which fits you better, they kept telling me I would like a Road glide better because I used to ride a softail, but have always liked the electra just not with everything on it, I test rode a Road and Street glide and overall chose the Street glide because it just felt better to me. if you're tall some people will say go for the road glide you'll feel cramped on the street glide, I'm 6'3 and feel better on the street glide than road glide because of the setup on the batwing fairing.
What did you think of the Fat Boy Lo or S like you had in the thumbnail? I’ve been eyeing one as my first Harley. Love the way they look. Haven’t been able to ride on yet though.

The older fatboy most certainly looks better in my opinion, but be prepared to be dragging some serious floorboards. Newer Softails have much better frames.
Thinking of getting a Harley for my third bike. Had a BMW GS / Triumph street twin. Most concern is dragging the foot pegs on a Harley when cornering. Thoughts?
Depends which Harley, but I think you will be fine. Try a low rider s or touring bike.

Not wrong about torque being easy to wind up very easily. A cam (S&S 475) and tune is roughly 3k aud. It just about doubled my numbers in torque and hp. (122hp & 126.5nm of torque)

Of course Shovels are the best sounding. Nothing beats a low idle shovelhead with drag pipes. And yes I've owned a shovelhead, a evo and twin cam. Won't touch a m8 too refined so lost a lot of character HD was renowned for. Should of kept my shovelhead but currently have an carby evo which comes a close second

Each to their own. But imo there are other v-twin engines made by other makes that do better job than HD. This is not meant to be a big shit on HD. After riding some big v-twin Yamaha's ,I would say HD still needs to step up it's game...especially in the reliability department. The last HD I rode was a '23 Fatboy. Nice bike, and the "vibrations" were not an issue - gives the bike character. But the M8 specs are where the big v-twin Yamaha's were a decade ago.
I'm going off my LAMS restricted licence in the not too distant future, and am starting to do some research on different bikes. Looking at the Triumph speedmaster 865 (2007/2008) or a 1995ish Fatboy - Would love to hear peoples thoughts - Tnx :)

I actually just traded in my 09 Softail custom for a 24 Street Glide, I have always liked Harleys since I was little, that's probably because my dad took me on my first ride when I was 2 years old on his Harley, so over the past 6 years riding I have had an 18 Softail Deluxe (not technically owned by me, the base had a program for motorcycles) which got wrecked when someone ran me off the road on the 5 in California, had the 09 Softail that I mentioned earlier, and now the 24 street glide. Had my dad owned a different bike when He took me for a ride I probably would have gravitated that way but here I am. That new Street Glide is a fantastic bike, just needs a new set of pipes...when ever Vance & Hines releases their 24 pipes.

Hello from the socialist state of California, where our God-given civil rights have been in peril for many years. I'm age 74 and have been riding mc's since 1968, where upon my very first time operating a bike, I went down due to a lack of instruction about negotiating a curve with counter-steering. That was the only time I've ever gone down while in motion. I've tipped over while stopped, due to unsteady footing as well as forgetting to lower the kickstand one time. I've owned five Japanese bikes and five Harleys. I love the sound and the vibrations Harleys make.

I'm 58 & love life right now 😝👍 I ride a Harley Low Rider ST & absolutely love the motorcycle lifestyle 100% but some days are harder than other days & the older we get we can expect them hard days to become abit more frequent unfortunately , I can't run like i could when 17 or even 30 , Can't fight like i could in my 20's & 30's But i feel like i can ride better now at 58 than i could in 20's ! H-D ? Been there, done that. My 14th m/c is a Honda VTX 1800R. It's a better build quality, made in Marysville Ohio.
The biggest achievement of Harley Davidson is they always build a technical crappy V-twin engine, and telling everyone for more then 120 years, nothing is wrong with it, and the shaking is normal. Talking about a BS story !

Yes it's a kink thing. I have two kinks, 1. Sid kink, this involves having coffee dates with people and asking them to call me Sid. 2. Snot kink, this involves colouring my snot various colours through the used of food dye and then making pretty pictures on handkerchiefs... (I'm an artist) P.S reread my last comment about being triggered. This is not an insult - its just a clue as to what help you need.
According to alot of these kind of videos, people are NOT rushing to Harley dealers. Infactit sound like people are pissed about getting ripped off by Harley dealers and Harley is not selling like they want. I don't think I'll buy one.
I stopped your video when you said that Harleys a at 45 degrees. I think they are at 60 degrees with a 30 degree offset. it's the 30 degree offset that give them their sound and vibration.
You're correct if you're talking about the new Revolution Max engines, but the M8, Twin Cam, and Evo engines all had 45º cylinder angles. I'm not completely sure about all of the older models before the Evo, but I think at least most of them were 45º as well.
Best sound for me has to be the twin cam.
