I would say motocross boots but mine don't have a rugged tread pattern and are rather smooth possibly slippery. That could make a difference between dropping a heavy bike or not.
I wore Fryes for years, but now I'm running ICON Stormhawks. I like the wire ratchet tighteners. So it's not too hard to slip them on. Plus they make it easier to walk in after reaching a destination where the Fryes were uncomfortable to walk in.
thanks for the info, I ride a Breakout and only ware HD boots tall and short in general. Ive be known to pop on for a ride in my horse kit boots but my HD boots are the boss. Safety fit comfort for shifting and looks are on the list ,, well what do know looks are important too☺.
Very rarely would I wear casual sneakers or “runners” on the bike. I used to always wear the same lace-up side-zip 6” tactical boots I wore for work but recent years has been mostly protective motorcycle specific sneakers or boots. I have a variety but much like your top picks my absolute favorites that tick all boxes are my black TCX MOOD GTX or 6” Brown Oiled Timberland Pro Direct Attach soft toes. Both waterproof, slip resistant and the TCX’s offer great ankle support and protection while the Tim’s are perfect for anytime, anywear, that I’d feel safe in a crash but I think it’s a more popular boot for us New York folk. I also like my 10” Harness and Engineer boots, I have choices ranging from Schott NYC, The Flathead, Frye, Indian and Double H. All welt constructed for proper re-sole and I also have a black Tim style HD boot that’s pretty good and the Midland sneaker boot that has some nice features as well, just don’t appear to be as durable as some of my other offerings. I have Iron Rangers and 1,000 Mile boots but like you said, better for casual wear. Cheers!
Most motorcycle injuries are to the foot and lower legs, a huge number of these caused by people dropping their bike on their leg while its stationary breaking bones in the lower leg hence why proper boots go up the calf are stiff and have ankle armor, I still ride in my steel blue work boots but looking into options since I discovered this info recently.
I witnessed a crotch rocket Rider slide across the highway in front of me. He was wearing a leather jacket blue jeans and sneakers. He was uninjured accept his foot had a puncture wound. Had he been wearing boots he probably just would have bruised his foot.
If you ride a heavy motorcycle as I do (Indian Springfield) I wear heavy American steel cap motorcycle boots that are both lace and hook and side zipper. So it's easy to take them off. They have great grip so I can hold the bike up on dirt wet road concrete. And high ankle protection.
Hey Amon, great vid mate endorse everything you said , it's only after years of trial and error that you can give honest and real advice on motorcycle footwear . Good stuff bro 💪 👊😎👊

I wear what looks like traditional cowboy boots. It's what I grew up in, in the Ozarks (South West Missouri USA). I transitioned from a quarter horse to an iron horse. The particular pair I wear has steel toes and chemical resistance nonslip soles. Round toe not pointed or square toe. There are my work boots and my daily boot. I very rarely wear anything else. I wanted to add because of my 78 shovelhead with the 3-inch open primary. I never wear anything with laces, a recipe for disaster if a lace comes loose and gets into the engine pulley.
As i hung up my riding boots for 10 years and the the rest of the riding gear, everything ended up being replaced, sitting in the cupboard, boots had fallen apart after a week of returning to riding, i tried to repair them. Eventually they got tossed, and i could not replace them the company stopped manufacturing them. As i went with a Honda 750 the boots i purchased was to high when changing gears and the toe would get stuck as well as the heal on the pegs, i did not want to adjust the gear lever i was comfortable with its position. Picked up some good cheap boots second hand. Eventually sold the bike. purchased a H.D the gear lever was to high for the cheap boots, I just needed the wider toe. That was good i just then needed to adjust my height. After searching online and travelling to the city and trying on many different brand shoes and many different bike stores. Now being a touring road bike, i was looking at road boots and could not find anything, that suited the height, comfort, length, zipper and the wider toe with safety features. I then started googling dirt bike gear, but that gear did not suit a Harley let alone a person dressed in H.D riding gear. I came across Adventure boots, wide toe, good tread for different surfaces and grip, it had the height, length of the boot came in two sizes short or long and comfort and waterproof to a certain amount of water depending on how much time spent in the wet weather, also came in two or three colors black, tan or brown. And the looks fantastic on the Harley, comfortable to walk in for long distances, climbing stairs, Easy to get on and off by the buckles, dry overnight if they get wet you wouldn't even know your feet were wet. They keep you warm, no amount of wind gets through they are a strong durable thick leather. You showed some good pointers of interest.
Hi Ayman,I have been riding bikes 45,years ,on my harley, I wear gasolina boots, hand made ,absolutely beautiful, Goodyear welted soles, beautiful leather, and they look good,,years ago wore Lewis leather boots, regards Mike 🇬🇧
Forma Adventure Low boots feel very comfortable and offer an aggressive non-slip sole, and plenty of protection for the ankle and above. Good leather makes them look appropriate too while cruising on my old Fatboy.
I wear my old "aircrew" boots, issued to me when I was active duty. Steel toe, leather, well above the ankle....perfect fit for up shifting. Time to get them resoled....
Great video and thanks for the suggestions. I'm getting my new/old Dyna Wide this week and liked the boots stylmartin as they seem to offer the best protection. My thing is to make sure that you don't wear anything slippery like cowboy boots those things are like ice skates when it gets wet! Keep the video, s rolling great job! You the man!
@@OldNotDead-Club I walked in to buy a helmet saw those boots ,tried them on had to have them, the zip on the side makes them easy to put on and off. I wear on the Road Glide, Johnney Reb Rogues, no stupid hi texan heal good ankle protection and water protection once you soak them a few times in water proofing bees wax or other. I always wear a good CE rated protective boot. Some years ago my foot got trapped under a BMW cruiser on a painful slide; my body went one direction the leg the other. Lots of lower leg injury but the boot saved me from losing toes. I hate to think what the outcome would have been if I had been wearing my Blundstones. Love my Blundstones but for the bike the first choice is my Altbergs
I wear Danner Tanicus Boot. I'm currently looking at some Harley Davidson Riddick 8 Inc leather boots. What do you think of the Harley Davidson Riddick Boots? Danner
All I wear are boots everyday. I have a nice pair of high Red Wings and they are both comfortable and very durable. I also still have my Black Cadillacs from my days in the MARINES. Those things are so broken in I don’t even feel like I’m wearing boots at all. But they are nice bike boots.
The factory I used to work at required steel toe boots, so I rode with those too. As you say, the huge toe can be an obstacle and no ankle armor if you go skidding down the road. They're also too damn heavy to walk around in. Before our steel toe requirement, I used to wear boots like your brown ones, only with rubber soles. Still have them. They last forever, just need a sole put on from time to time. The ankle leather seems much tougher than my work boots. The one downside is laces. For some reason, those thin waxed type don't like to stay tight or even knotted very long. Bad news on bikes w/o shaft drives. In the winter or if I'm traveling long enough I don't trust the sunny forecast, I wear purpose built zip up, goretex, calf high motorcycle boots. Most of the time I wear those ankle high motorcycle boots, like your tennis shoe boots, only they're black and don't look like tennis shoes. I have one pair of them that's perforated to flow air on the hot days and another that's supposedly waterproof for cooler days or days it may rain on a local ride. Unlike my regular boots, they're throw aways. But a few seasons for a $150 seems reasonable to me.
Yeah a lot of people don't like shoe laces but if they are done up with double knots and sit high I don't think they are dangerous. A lot of great choices now for boots.
I alternate between Dingo harnes style boots and Timberland hiking boots. I just bought a pair of Dr. Marten's and need to put some miles on them, but I think they will replace the Timberlands, since they are very comfortable to wear and walk in
OK, I can give a comment. I try to when I have anything to add so... I had to change my style when I started riding again. I am a Red Wing guy, but I quickly realized that square toes would be better for riding. I am from the American South and while I have never worn them in my life, people here like Cowboy boots, and these days they make those with square toes. I also don't like the idea of laces on a bike (even though my bike is shaft driven, old habits from chain drives stick in my mind). So I decided to go that way. So I grabbed a pair of Cody James square toes. The heels are actually a nice added bonus, although the left one is wearing down faster than the right. For me, they are the perfect riding boots. BUT...I did not realize until they arrived that the Cody James boots I bought were of a soft leather. I don't know what you call it, but it is the kind that is leather, but has the texture of suede. Or maybe that is just what suede is...I really don't know. In other words, rain and weather were going to put spots all over them pretty quickly. So I solved that by "staining" them all the way, evenly while waterproofing them at the same time, with mink oil.
Thanks for the info, one comment about steel cap boots is I was told not to wear them on a bike, as in an accident they can be crushed and people have lost toes. Something to think about.
I tryed all kind of boots over the last fourthy five years riding motorcycles, but for the last decades, I only wear those Lowa Combat boots GTX. Waterproof Goretex liner inside, strong, and you can walk all day on them. If it's good enough for police and militairy, it's good enough for me ! 😆 On hot summerday's I use the lower and lighter Lowa Renegade boots. Lowa boots are not cheap, but last for years 👍
Great video! I have the same Stylmartin boots (albeit in brown) and love them, as well! Mine are only one year old, so thanks for modeling yours. Now I know I don't have to do a damn thing in terms of upkeep and they'll look even better! lol
Hi great job on all your videos just a question on your Corbin seat you have on your street glide, I have the same bike I am 1.8 tall Corbin recommend the tall version do you have a opinion on the solo seat? Thanks
I wear a pair of lineman’s boots while riding. Good ankle support and heavy leather with Grippy bottoms. I suppose the steel toe likely isn’t a bad thing.
I’m yet to find boots to suit, most are to chunky to fit between my footpeg & gear lever. I wear Ariat western boots on and off the bike😊 Thanks for the vid 👌
I wear "Graphite" boots from target with ankle support, steel cap & great tread with slip resistant sole & oil resistant too.... Also comfortable ❗ & not expensive either.... Keep Living the F#@KING Dream ❗ Safe travels 🙏♥️🐾
Alright, I have to rescind my previous statement. I did buy those Cody James square toes. I did ride in them. I did think that was the right match. Then, two weeks later, the heel started pealing off of the clutch foot boot. They were great, but they just weren't made for this purpose. So I picked up a pair of Milwaukee Leather MBM9062. Harness, square toe...but actual riding boots. These will hold up much better. F++kers weren't cheap, though. $160 Yank.
Another great video I would have been impressed if you said the red heels were yours 😆, It's not easy finding good boots,My work boots not good to ride in and still trying to work out if I like my Johnny Rebs time will tell, but thanks for the boot review 👍🏼
Nice review! I have been wearing tall motorcycle touring boots that use buckles like ski boots have. Much easier than lacing boots. My latest are shorter but still over the ankle ADV style boots. Interesting that your wife wears Street Glide™️ boots!😜
I wont wear anything except a steel or compost toed work boots. If I every get the unfortunate experience of rolling down the road they will protect my feet. In my opinion they provide more protection then most "motorcycle boots". Good work boots are not cheep as i payed over $150 for good Timberland boots. I always carry a pair of sneakers in my bag so if I get off and want to do a lot of walking I just change into them.
I once saw a photo of someone’s foot after it had been dragged along the ground with a motorbike on top of it. Something I’ve never been able to “un-see”. Stylish work boots do it for me now. I can’t get my brother to stop wearing thongs! Good video mate.
I wear my cowboy boots when I'm either going long distance or a chill ride. But my track boots for more spirited rides or I feel like looking like more of a biker boy
IMO I think functionality is #1. If the boot is too bulky or stiff or the soles are slippery they are fighting you when controlling the motorcycle. No matter how much crash protection they offer it’s not worth it if it affects control.
I wear workboots (high) Steelcapped nose, steel plate in the sole Watertight, heat resistant, anti slip, anti static Also I miss the front part of my right foot, so I need the stability
Indie Ridge Mohawks. They are a 3/4 boot-shoe designed for riding and you can wear them for casual. comfort out of the box and grip well. Best looking imo! Also have TRX from Italy as a long haul riding boot.
Hard Yakka 3065 work boot comfortable, hard wearing, steel caps, tough sole, a must have for me is a boot with a side zip so in the worse case scenario it's real easy for the ambo's to remove them. And the big bonus is you don't look like a try hard wanna be GP rider.
I swear to god you were going to put on those pumps and ride on the harley for the stick around to the end part. Disappointed but also relieved. I wear those blue steel work boots - my boots have the ankle protection and heel protection on them so perhaps its a new model ? I also got some RST stunt riders ( mega comfortable difficult to put on and off though ) when I'm riding something that needs a little more finesse with the toesys.

@@clifffrench4858 That's a hard question to answer because any simulation of an accident won't really be accurate. On a track at high speed I wouldn't have laces personally but we are riding onm the street and this is relatively slow even when riding hard.

@@OldNotDead-Club Whites Boots in Spokane , Washington. 👍
Thanks
Thanks for the info, one comment about steel cap boots is I was told not to wear them on a bike, as in an accident they can be crushed and people have lost toes. Something to think about.
I don't think that's true, urban myth?
adding onto the work boots, I've hears EMS say that the steel caps can pinch and cut off toes when in an accident. Something to think about
Yes I have heard that too - BUT I have also heard this is BS -- lol who do you believe I'm not doing any real life tests
@@OldNotDead-Club haha I also won’t be a test dummy.
Met you on the MDB ride and have watched quite a few videos since.
Keep up the good work!
@@willbe7442 Thank you and welcome to the channel hope to see you again on a ride
Lowa boots are not cheap, but last for years 👍
They look like good boots, I will have to try a pair
Do to my short size I wear Doc Martens as the platforms they put on some give me an extra inch to 1.5”.
Cool boots!
Great video! I have the same Stylmartin boots (albeit in brown) and love them, as well! Mine are only one year old, so thanks for modeling yours. Now I know I don't have to do a damn thing in terms of upkeep and they'll look even better! lol
Yeah they are great boots
Hi great job on all your videos just a question on your Corbin seat you have on your street glide, I have the same bike I am 1.8 tall Corbin recommend the tall version do you have a opinion on the solo seat? Thanks
It's absolutely awesome! I have done a 12 hour day on it no problem and it gets more comfortable as it ages. Leather top so breathes great also
I wear Ecco Gore Tex ankle lace boots. My most comfortable boots, longest lasting.
Thanks for the comment, nothing like comfy boots!
I wear a pair of lineman’s boots while riding. Good ankle support and heavy leather with Grippy bottoms. I suppose the steel toe likely isn’t a bad thing.
It's probably good if it's from a reputable company
@@OldNotDead-Club good red wing brand. The company treats us to good boots. :-)
@@chrissmith7669 Nice! love Red Wing boots
I’m yet to find boots to suit, most are to chunky to fit between my footpeg & gear lever.
I wear Ariat western boots on and off the bike😊
Thanks for the vid 👌
I would have thought they would be too slippery? I have an extended shifter and break lever so almost anything fits.
@@OldNotDead-Club my fav pair have a rubber type sole. Thank you, I will look into getting an extended shifter👌
What are your thoughts on Indie Ridge motorcycle boots, other than better than non motorcycle specific. Coming at you from the US.
Does the red wing have the older style smooth sole or the new updated small Vibram lug sole?
It has the updated sole
I wear "Graphite" boots from target with ankle support, steel cap & great tread with slip resistant sole & oil resistant too.... Also comfortable ❗ & not expensive either....
Keep Living the F#@KING Dream ❗
Safe travels 🙏♥️🐾
Thanks Tex, good choice
Blundies are the go , light, hard wearing, good price
Lol, they were my first my Harley boots and very trendy in the early nineties... but never again
$160 Yank.
Yep good boots cost $
The sole on the stylemartins, can be replaced, what we call a stitched sole,or Goodyear welted sole, regards Mike 🇬🇧
Thank you - that's it - lol
Another great video I would have been impressed if you said the red heels were yours 😆, It's not easy finding good boots,My work boots not good to ride in and still trying to work out if I like my Johnny Rebs time will tell, but thanks for the boot review 👍🏼
Lol, thanks much appreciated. I agree about the boots - you have to try a few to see what suits.
@@OldNotDead-Club Maybe I should try my cowboy boots and ride Harley Davidson and Malbro man style 😎 🤠

Yeah good point I will try and work out a solution maybe a website or FB page
Since I have stupid wide EE feet, I find most boots / shoes way too narrow so its' Converse / Van hi-tops with waterproof socks for me :-)
lol, I always found converse too narrow ( for decades) and then I tried a pair and they are fine, i have few now.
Nice review! I have been wearing tall motorcycle touring boots that use buckles like ski boots have. Much easier than lacing boots. My latest are shorter but still over the ankle ADV style boots.
Interesting that your wife wears Street Glide™️ boots!😜
LOL, best RG come back I have heard!
That's pretty disciplined of you to carry the sneakers - well done
I once saw a photo of someone’s foot after it had been dragged along the ground with a motorbike on top of it. Something I’ve never been able to “un-see”. Stylish work boots do it for me now. I can’t get my brother to stop wearing thongs! Good video mate.
Thank you - spot on about protecting those feet
I wear my cowboy boots when I'm either going long distance or a chill ride. But my track boots for more spirited rides or I feel like looking like more of a biker boy
Thanks, so many choices
IMO I think functionality is #1. If the boot is too bulky or stiff or the soles are slippery they are fighting you when controlling the motorcycle. No matter how much crash protection they offer it’s not worth it if it affects control.
Thanks that's spot on, it can be very dangerous if your footwear isn't functional
I wear workboots (high)
Steelcapped nose, steel plate in the sole
Watertight, heat resistant, anti slip, anti static
Also I miss the front part of my right foot, so I need the stability
Indie Ridge Mohawks. They are a 3/4 boot-shoe designed for riding and you can wear them for casual. comfort out of the box and grip well. Best looking imo! Also have TRX from Italy as a long haul riding boot.
both fine boots - thanks
Nicks Urban Logger’s work well for me
What helmet do you use??
My choice, good quality engineer boot
Yeah good choice, thanks for your input
if you go for a ride on a harley and you haven't got a mate with a ute

I wear regular red wing boots from the best of the most cultural list high top still talk.
Great boots, thanks for watching
I like red wing iron rangers
They are excellent
Hard Yakka 3065 work boot comfortable, hard wearing, steel caps, tough sole, a must have for me is a boot with a side zip so in the worse case scenario it's real easy for the ambo's to remove them. And the big bonus is you don't look like a try hard wanna be GP rider.
Yeah they are great work boots. The black ones in the video finally gave out and I got a hard yakka pair also
How about Engineer boots? those are the go-to in the US.
Yeah sure, plenty of options.. actually endless
Rossie Ripple sole boots
Thanks
I swear to god you were going to put on those pumps and ride on the harley for the stick around to the end part. Disappointed but also relieved. I wear those blue steel work boots - my boots have the ankle protection and heel protection on them so perhaps its a new model ? I also got some RST stunt riders ( mega comfortable difficult to put on and off though ) when I'm riding something that needs a little more finesse with the toesys.
LOL i'm relieved too. The steel blues just died the other day -- but they lasted a long time
Steel toe Engineer boots made by, Carolina

In Hawaii we always wore flip flops when riding.
you speak about safety, but many riders wear short sleeves, jackets without protection, no gloves and no helmets.
That is correct. Sometimes I (and we) wear less when it's hot... but I always do something

Thanks, they are pretty popular!
I am looking at some lace up boots. I don’t know if it was you or someone else said they could fly off if in a wreck.
@@clifffrench4858 That's a hard question to answer because any simulation of an accident won't really be accurate. On a track at high speed I wouldn't have laces personally but we are riding onm the street and this is relatively slow even when riding hard.
I can’t seem to convince my 26 year old son that sandals aren’t safe on a motorcycle. He rides an Indian FTR and my old road king.
