    This gave me logician. The detailed description was creepily spot on almost all the way through. Particularly the pervasive fear of failure. My therapist is going to love this.
    Also, “people with the Logician personality type tend to share thoughts that are not fully developed, using others as a sounding board for ideas and theories in a debate against themselves rather than as actual conversation partners.
    This may make them appear unreliable, but in reality no one is more enthusiastic and capable of spotting a problem, drilling through the endless factors and details that encompass the issue and developing a unique and viable solution than Logicians - just don’t expect punctual progress reports” is so accurate I might even send it to my long suffering boss.

      INTP then, like me. We are a strange bunch and proud of it. You might want to visit r/intp on reddit. It is far and away the largest mbti based reddit there is, and it is full of "using others as a sounding board for ideas and theories in a debate against themselves" Female INTPs are actually rare, with males outnumbering females three to one.

    • @arianebarnes

      The 16 personality test compares pretty good to the actual MBTI test. Real psychologists use a test called OCEAN, but it is not popular in pop-psychology because it measures things like narcissism and closed mindedness.
      People like sharing their MBTI results because none of the 16 personalities are considered bad where some of the OCEAN 32 are.
      Two other problems: 1. All it really is is a description of your personality based on the way you answered personality questions, which leads to 2. Much of your life has nothing to do with your personality, and you should not let MBTI make decisions for you.

    • @paulamartinez3314
      @paulamartinez3314 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      THIS!! It happened to me too I'm a logician and i was just amazed after reading the part about throwing ideas, before that i just thought that everyone worked better in dialogs with people (even if they were imaginary in my head) and i thought plato was a genius for writing everything in dialogs. It makes much more sense that is just me, but i do it a lot.
      Also is hard for me to understand how people can just not overthink many things they just don't think twice about them.

      People feel comfort when they find a way to categorize themselves. Shows that they aren’t alone and that other people do relate to them. I think that while it’s important to recognize that any personality test should be taken with a grain of salt (because personalities change over time) they also allow people to reflect on their personality. It can also be fun to take it occasionally to see if your personality has changed or how you compare or differ from your friends/family members.

    I took the full Myers-Briggs Personality indicator in 1989 when I had to attend a week-long professional development course for my job. There were around 50 people in the room. As he started to go around the difference types on a board, there were five of these and 8 of those, Etc. And when he got to INTJ, I was the only one of 50 people. Years later, in the shorter online Myers Briggs, I tested INFJ. In 1989, I was as far out on the introversion scale as you could get. But in 2020, I consider myself an ambivert. I can be very outgoing in some situations but I am most definitely at heart still an introvert.

    I've seen a lot of comments saying that MBTI is just astrology but personality, but
    1. MBTI isn't personality as much as it is the way you prefer to process and analyse your surroundings, which does affect personality and
    2. 16personalities uses the Big Five personality traits to determine your type instead of cognitice functions (which is what the MBTI is based on), hence the -T and -A at the end. This might be why results are inconsistent (since your MB type isn't supposed to change), and why the results aren't accurate (the description of the types are based on cognitive functions). The info about how they combine MBTI and the Big Five is on the 16personalities website!
    Rundown of cognitive functions: there is an introverted and extroverted version of Thinking (T), Feeling (F), Sensing (S) and Intuition (N), which is determined by your E/I and J/P. From 16personalities you may think that ISTPs and ISTJs only differ by J/P, but since they determine what functions you have, ISTPs and ISTJs are very different.
    I personally think 16personalities is misleading as e.g. assigning a Big Five trait like conscientiousness to the J/P in MBTI is fundemantally different from how J/P works to determine cognitive functions, and so its inaccurate for a lot of people. It's not impossible to get your MBTI type from 16personalities, but there's a large margin of error.
    (add on cuz im a dumbass and cant write smth coherent) Due the popularity of 16personalities, the logic behind MBTI has just been lost in the void. If anyone is interested, keys2cognition.com has a consistently accurate test (albeit bad graphic design), and psychologyjunkie.com explains cognitive functions quite well!

    • @aalllisson
      @aalllisson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks so much for writing all this because I wanted to but it would take too long to say everything! I fully agree with the other websites you recommend for learning more about MBTI types.
      Now, a quick demonstration of how cognitive functions work, in case anyone's interested. Everyone has a thinking function, a feeling function, a sensing function, and an intuition function. They are all either introverted or extraverted. The four letters are a code that says which of each you have, and in what order.
      For the example of the ENFJ, like Jessica probably is, your four functions are Fe, Ni, Se, and Ti.
      The one you use most, what comes most naturally to you, is Fe (extraverted feeling). This basically means that you make decisions based on the values of the group you're in. Next is Ni (introverted intuition). This one means that you try to achieve your goals by looking at the underlying meaning of things and narrowing down ideas. Next is Se (extraverted sensing), so you are aware of the environment around you and take in external information with little internal reflection. Finally, you use Ti (introverted thinking). In ENFJs, this is visible as a lack of internal structure. You neglect your internal reasoning in favour of the group's ideas.
      If that doesn't describe Jessica perfectly, I don't know what does! She has little self-awareness, makes big plans, and is attuned to others' values. ENFJ!
      (I know there's lots more theory I'm not going into bc that would make this even longer than it already is)
      Tl;dr: The MBTI is based on cognitive functions, which explain very well how Jessica is an ENFJ.
