    I love her so much! I grew up I Carly obviously so she was like this huge part of my childhood but the book really made me fall in love with who she is as a person as an intellectual as a voice for so many people that could’ve formulate these thoughts or put them in the page. The audiobook being read by her just made it so much more personal and better too. And she really made us all dig into our relationships with family and childhood traumas also made us dig into how we treat celebrities especially child stars if anyone has an eating disorder I think she touched on so much there as well in such an honest and open way. Thank you Jeanette for your wonderful book and insights and perspectives ❤

    I’m sure a lot of people can relate to not being sad about someone abusive in their life passing away. Sometimes it’s a huge relief. But it’s not always polite to say that or some people can’t relate to the experience so they think you’re being horrible.

    • @FatherMurry
      @FatherMurry 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      I used to say it all the time, it felt ugly but I truly felt it was the only way I'd feel relief, even if it came with tremendous hurt. 6 months ago my mother had a life threatening event and tried to "apologize" after 20 yrs of nastiness. As hard as it was, I'm glad I didn't give in, even if it meant her dying without closure. She lived and has not changed as a person. After a few months, I finally realized the closure had to come from within. Not giving in, and putting myself first, allowed me to finally grieve the loss of her in my life and it changed everything. I don't wish ill on her at all these days. Sorry for the rant. 😬🙃

    Drew, you've garnered such a genuine, sympathetic audience because of your stance on compassion and community. Big Picture Community needs you, don't sacrifice the whole for the few. Your staff will survive and your writer's deserve that same community from you. Don't do this. This announcement has already muddied your character and costs you the people's trust but pivoting and taking accountability for abandoning your fellow artists in their most difficult time can maybe regain people's respect for you. It's not too late, don't let us down. You've been an ally to many communities, don't be a trader to the community who directly helps carry you.
    Stay on the right side of history Drew.

    The people judging her have no idea what abuse from a parent feels like. She was emotionally, physically and sexually abused by her Mom. A parent is supposed to protect you and love you. Not abuse you to the point you’re glad they’re finally dead. You have every right to feel this way if you were abused by your parents.
