There is a reason why consoles make a slim version mid generation. Cause they use less materials then the production costs lower and the final product will be cheaper. But when these fucking companies do something smaller they inflate the retail price by 700%.
Crash Gaming it's difficult to put that kind of hardware into a case thats smaller than the slim versions of a console. Btw you have to cool it somehow
It's like comparing a laptop to a custom built. Yeah you get more power but you lose out on power usage and size. Think about it like this, the NUC takes up the same volume as a 2l coke bottle. That's seriously hard to do

xXMediaTrix they can have more powerful components inside and a near infinite battery life cause they're plugged in all the time which you can't do on laptops becuase that degrades the performance by like 5-40% (seriously, if you do any thing with a laptop plugged in, it'll degrade your performance for that app/game). Plus, they can be modified, you can change out the ram, storage etc without voiding your warranty and they're able to provide more frames at higher resolutions for more or less a similar price becuase laptops include the prices of the screen, keyboard and touchpad. Also, laptops are expensive as fuck. Plus, you can set this aside and hook it upto a monitor and not have to carry it on your lap. Becuase this is just like a pc and why buy a laptop when you have a keyboard and mouse around and a monitor or tv yoi could hook it up to. Plus, this can game at higher resolutions than similarly priced laptops.
Honestly, for once I would actually highly recommend something like this for the purpose that it serves. Try to build something this small with your own parts and you will fail miserably, try to build something with performance between a coffee lake i5 and i7 and you will fail due to nothing else being a good inbetween, try to build something with all of these things considered with performance between a 1060 and 1050 ti for $1000 and you will fail. For once, probably thanks to AMD, we have a good competent Intel product with great price to performance/size. This thing can game in 1080p on any and all new games at or around 60fps ultra settings for $1000 and do massive productivity workloads in reasonable amounts of time (faster than a new i5 would but slightly slower than an i7 would).
:) This sounds like a good pc even it is a bit on the more expensive side of things. I am curious though what are the temps after longer use? Does it start to thermal trottle a lot, are the fans powerful enough to keep it from doing this ?:)
SteamMachine your 1070 is also bigger then the entire nuc... My gaming pc i also better, but this tech is still both cool and impressive. Would love to have this in my livingroom for example. Barely noticeable under the tv, and maybe some light gaming. Like cuphead etc
