Hi Julienne, I am going to try and follow your videos from the very beginning, I went to a class and I didn't learn much at all (it was 4 weeks down the drain) so I am going to listen to your info. However, I am not understanding this; when you are using a folder to save photos and then you want to create a sub-folder ok, I do not find the area which selects "the year" so e.g. if I have various pics that I now want to edit from previous years before lightroom and I, can you please explain this to me again, because I cannot find it? regards. Nance Pirrello

This is something that I absolutely love about lightroom over iPhoto. I mean I never really liked iPhoto because it always hid all the content and processes by creating it's own database. On my computer it says I have 470gbs of photos in iPhoto, yet within iPhoto it says I have 347gb of photos. I am sure I will soon figure out where that heaping pile of space is going to as I am trying to transfer everything over to Lightroom but the fact that it doesn't make it clear and easy to access is frustrating. On top of all that since iPhoto does everything separate like that it it consumes so much memory that it slows down the computer greatly in comparison to lightroom.

when I create a new folder in lightroom cc for my catalog using my secondary internal hd lightroom seems to read both my primary and my secondary hd and tries to import all photos from both drives not just my secondary drive that I wish to create a folder for.

Another helpful video, thank you. I do learn something new every time i watch. However I am having trouble renaming certain folders in LR v5.7. The problem folders contain a mix of video and image files all shot on same day with same camera. I have tied moving the video files to a subfolder and this then usually enables me to change the parent folder name. Sometimes this works but not always. Is there a simple effective remedy?

Bruce Ckark I haven't used lightroom yet , but the vid before this 1 shows importing. Just select. the pics & not the vids for import. I believe u need ph elements for vid or another vid editing program for video. Probably have it down by now considering your post date.

Still trying to wrap my mind around where the master photos live on my iPad. So I take some photos and then I connect my camera to my iPad which then asks me to import the photos off of the camera. I select the photos I want and import. These are raw photos which are now in my camera roll on my iPad. From there I open lightroom cc and import the photos I have just imported from the camera into the camera roll. Here is where I get confused. When the photos are being copied from my camera roll into Lightroom cc are they being bounced into the cloud immediately leaving behind the preview? My next question is if I am not connected to the Internet and Lightroom CC cannot bounce the raw files up into the cloud what am I left with in Lightroom CC? Am I left with the original photo that just came from my camera roll?

I've never understood why Lightroom has to make this sort of thing so tricky. In Photoshop, I can simply open an image I want to work on from anywhere on my drives. Is there a technical reason for this?

This is how you get started? Adobe has no organization for my kind of training. How do I get started? Editing is easy. The file management is a nightmare. No one makes to makes videos of that crap because it’s no fun.

Adobe is breaking their contract with the consumer!
When Adobe Fulfilled their contract with Leica they forgot they also had a contract with the customer!
Customers were allowed 2 downloads. They are not fulfilling that and are liable with a class action lawsuit.
No one is paying attention to this. Adobe has forgotten you the consumer!

It called file explorer, use it. Why would I use this useless crap program to organize? Same goes for bridge. You are giving credit to a trillion dollar crap company.
