    You can make “presets” for exporting. Then when you go to export, just right click on the image(s) and click on the preset and it will do all those things! When I learned that, it took my exporting to a whole new level! Thanks for all your informative education. I have been a pro photographer for 11 years and I still constantly learn new things from you! ❤️

    This came at exactly the right time for me too, having just viewed your culling video a few days back & shooting a wedding yesterday. I can now use many of the steps you have highlighted to really polish up on my procedures. Some real game changing info on both. Thank you so much!

    I thought I had fine tuned my importing, organizing, and exporting - but you have taken it to another level! I haven't been doing the subfolders and I can absolutely see how that would improve upon my current system. I do not have Photo Mechanic, and cull in the Nikon View NX program, but when I import the files they do not retain the xmp data.

    I just got Lightroom and have been so overwhelmed by getting the photos into Lightroom and organizing them. I did not realize you have to import (versus a sync already happening to files on your drive) no matter your process is. This is super helpful! Thanks!

    1. Create a folder on my external ssd and name it.
    2. Drag and drop the folder from my SD card. Camera 1 & Camera 2.
    3. Create new catalog in LR
    4. Use Aftershoot for culling and double check.
    5. Create new folder and name it Selected. Drag and drop all selected photos in that folder.
    6. Use DXO Pure Raw to denoise photos with high ISO's.
    7. Upload to Imagen AI.
    8. Make a cup of coffee.
    9. Check email status from Imagen AI.
    10. Download edits.
    11. Adjust photos according to taste.
    12. Convert to JPEG
    13. Sleep
    Cause I'm lazy😂

    I take wildlife pictures, not people pictures, but still really enjoy your videos. They are full of energy and fun. You clearly work hard to develop repeatable processes to guarantee success!

    Are you creating a separate folder for blog images? I seen you color coded them differently but once that happened do you export them differently into a different subfolder? Thanks!!! You are truly THE BEST! and Michael and Ty aren’t too shabby either 😂

    I’m very new to Lightroom and still on my 4 month trial that came with a backup drive I purchased and the reason I’m considering the switch is for batch editing BUT I don’t know the best way to approach it. At approx 7:45 you talk about editing your favourite photos first and then batch syncing them along with hitting the + or - button to slightly adjust the photos, do you have a video explaining this process? Another question would be about the photos being in the same environment with fluctuating light and how would you approach colour temperature if you are photographing on a partly cloudy day and the light is fluctuating? Thanks for any tips you may be able to provide.

    Prior to owning the R6 what sizes did you export at? Would you do the same for the R5?

    Katelyn, You say here that you don't use any import settings since you created the presets but when do you choose which preset you will use and is that applied when you import into Lightroom from Photo Mechanic?

    Do you start the sequence over for each subfolder? For example, Tim and Anna - Bridal Details 1 and then Tim and Anna - Ceremony 1.

    I have a quick question? I used to leave the check on the box to sharpen but then it was making the image is too sharp.. so I started un-checking it but I was just curious do you ever find this to be an issue while exporting?

  • @LynetteEason
    @LynetteEason ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Katelyn, just curious. Your videos are so awesome. I don't suppose you can do a video on how you make your videos? LOL. Like all the software, the technical stuff, sharing your screen while talking, etc. Thanks. :)

      Thanks! Ty does pretty much everything when it comes to TH-cam! He made a BTS video a little bit about our process that you can watch here: th-cam.com/video/iMYhoy8KYas/w-d-xo.html This is an older but it should give you a general idea of what goes into it! For screen recordings we just use Quicktime and then Ty syncs it with the video! He should make more videos about the process!

    I use a PC and to import, I click "Add Folder" on the left. Is that doing the same thing as Add to Catalog? I kept rewinding to see where you clicked Import but didn't see where you clicked, but I am assuming it is the same step that I accomplish by clicking Import on the bottom right when I import my way. Also, how do you select them by pushing 8? I know you said I can click anything, but I am surely missing a detail there.

    I have a question about the export size of 300dpi. I recently wanted to have a canvas made from a photograph. There was no real information about the quality of the image needed to print a canvas. If you were trying to use one of these images to send to a vendor to print a canvas (say 11"x14" or larger) would you choose a larger DPI setting for the import to prevent pixelation? There seems to be a lot of mixed information about photo dpi vs resolution?

    • @projectiva2136
      @projectiva2136 ปีที่แล้ว

      DPI in print speak is Dots per inch the more dots the better which will increase the resolution too. However between 250 and 300 dpi is the max a lot of printers/labs can handle.
      You could have a smaller image with a high dpi have the same resolution for a screen as a larger image with a 72 dpi (dpi and ppi is a the same but most applications now call it ppi instead of dpi)

    When importing I click the button to “add to collection” and create a collection for that wedding. You did not do that here. Can you still sync your files with LR (like if you want to sync with your iPad and PC) if you don’t create a collection?

    • @a-muse6567
      @a-muse6567 ปีที่แล้ว

      no
      in order to sync Lr and LrC the images need to be in a collection.

  • @bvill6749
    @bvill6749 ปีที่แล้ว

    this is just not a simple process you have. I feel since yo have done it for so long, its "simple" but for many starters this was just, a lot lolol
