  • This engineering statics tutorial goes over how to calculate tension in a multiple pulley system on a slope. This system is in static equilibrium. It’s typically easiest to draw the free body diagram of these problems with a coordinate axis of x’ and y’ (in line and perpendicular with the slope) rather than a standard x and y.

at 2:45 you said you have a video on how to calculate the angle with W, x', and y' using geometry. Can you provide the link plz, thanks. Also when adding 2T, why would't we use 2Tcos30 since its technically on a incline.

when you are calculating the t in x' direction, why are you using cos20 instead of sin20 ?

Draw a right angle triangle such that T, x', y' are the sides, and the 20 degree angle is included, and then apply SOH CAH TOA. Like this: i.imgur.com/qJIpUb1.jpg 👍
