    Hello Dennis, thanks for the video, I also bought the 113n for Norway. The Cortez Bridge too. Just have to install these.
    Thank you again for the spare parts of my 12LT that you sent to Oliver in Germany.
    Many greetings from Germany
    Andy

    I’ve never seen this reel before but it immediately exudes strength and quality - common trademarks of a Penn reel made in the USA. I own 27 Penn USA made spinning reels and only two were not made in the USA. My Penn reels start with the first 1961 Penn Spinfisher 700 which was Penn’s first spinning reel. My USA made Penns go all the way through the Greenies, the Z reels, and end with a Penn 850ss reel. Only two Penn spinning reels - a 104 and 105 were made in Japan and not the USA. The only hot-roding I’ve done on any of my Penn spinning reels involved installing some sealed and ceramic bearings and converting a few Greenies to PUM setups. I think that when you are finished with this reel, your customer will be receiving an incredible fishing instrument! Great job as always Dennis! - Chris. PS. You still haven’t needed the bearing pulling solution that Rick and I gave you. You cheated though as this was a new reel and not a 1950s 2090 Shakespeare Sea Wonder reel! LOL

    Hi Dennis,
    Did you notice if any sideplate screws happened to be oiled or greased from the factory ?
    Thanks for your continued fine efforts,

      Hi Cons. There was no evidence of anything on the screws. I don't believe they use a grease or locktite when assembling - Best wishes. (Feels like Phoenix here!). Dennis

    I’ve never had the good fortune (yet) of owning a senator, but man is that a beautiful reel. When throwing big baits and heavy(8 oz. and up) sinkers I don’t see any difference in distance between a jigmaster w/ bushings and say a 545gs w/bearings. Maybe lures a different story?

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Maybe. I have seen the difference and I would go with the 545 all the time - Thanks

    Nice looking reel. IMO for the money, adding the replacement bridge and bearings to a reel that still uses a Bakelite side plates, IMO isn't the way I'd go unless I had a thing for Senator reels.
    Now you could add anodized aluminum side plates and a few other parts, but you're well into Penn International money. If it allow you to remember the days of old, I'm not standing in the way.

      Thanks - There are a lot of fans using the Tiburon Farms or Cortez conversions on these reels. They has a niche. Best wishes - Dennis

      If you want all metal, non-Raptor Avet would be comparable price. But not as beefy as the Senator. Plenty of very large fish landed on Bakelite Penns over the years. Look at Sportfishing Magazine’s list of 100 world records and the Senators are well represented there.

      The issue with bakelite side plates is that trolling with weight, the shock load slowly forms small cracks in the bridge material.
      I replaced a few of my Senator reels years back after the fall Rockfish (striped bass) season.
      Still have one Senator 12/0 that I use for surf fishing shark. The reel doesn't see the same type of loads that the same reel would being trolled.

    Great Video. Im curious I just purchased a Penn 113H2LW and when you try to spin spool with lever released your lucky to get one revolution. I dont know if that is common for that reel, but I seen the Penn US 113W witch seems to have similar line capacity with a better drag 27 over 22. I know in there specifications for the US 113 they mentions it has free spool. I watched another video where they put boca bearings in reel, He spun spool and it seemed like it would not stop spinning, which was impressive over something that you cant get one revolution from when you try to spin it. I know the 113H2LW is basically a trolling reel but I had seen Hawaian Ulua Surf setups using these reels. I think Im going to send the 113H2Lw back and replace it with US 113W. Appreciate any incite. Your video was very inciteful and informative. I am pairing reel to penn carnage 3 13' Heavy Rod. Im also suprised that retailer large online sent me display model instead of new which they thought was common practice. The second thing in last three days I have left Penn 3 phone messages and an e-mail as to the concerns I have mentioned, no responses.

      That's not right. Have you tried relaxing the tension on the non-gear side plate bearing adjuster? If it is totally clamped down, that may be the cause of your issue. You may want to back it off (turn counterclockwise) to release some of the tension and try again. If it is still binding, I would return the reel - Dennis

    Maybe it's a subjective thing but how much performance is gained, on a bran new reel, and in what aspect?

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The performance is marginal at the start, but the resistance to wear and durability increase with use, so it will perform better than the original over time

    Great video Dennis do you know what is available to hot rod a Diawa Sealine ? I have a few of the older Sealine’s 50h,47h, 450h and a 600h they are excellent reels but would not mind making them better

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There isn't much, because the reels were great fro the start. You can improve the drag stack with carbontex washers, but the bearings are unusual and hard to upgrade. The gears are top quality, so no need to replace them either - Thanks for asking - Dennis
