Oftentimes they are posed tricky questions comparing different women's beauty and they need to respond with grace. I see Japan's women and beauty icons speak similarly in a modest fashion about physical beauty. Must be some kind of an Asian cultural thing? In any case, keep rocking it, Philippines. My favorite was Manpreet Brar...her answers were awesome and her command over English was impeccable and fantastic diction.And the way she spoke with confidence was unmatched. She was the most underrated Miss India I feel.And Madhu Sapre too who studied in the vernacular medium school and improvised her diction to compete for the Miss Universe title.
You know there are extremely successful contestants from around the world like Spanish speaking countries who do not speak a lick of English at the event in front of the entire public? They have a translator. It sure would be nice if Indian contestants who happen to not be as strong in English be given the similar chance to respond in Hindi (or Tamil or Bengali) let the translator hustle so others understand. If the Miss Universe contest can appreciate the sexiness of Spanish, it can also appreciate the sexiness of Hindi. No need for our country to grovel always - "prove the English!" India is one of top global beauty contenders!

The organisation that time didn't want a back to back win for same country. That's the only reason. Another reason is USA didn't win the title for 15 years and when the show was started you can see the host and back ground voice used to repeat the same thing. And the pageant is held in Africa and Miss USA is African origin that also went her favor.

Of all the entries that India sent, Manpreet was the bestest of them all, she was terribly robbed of the 👑. A true epitome of a strong woman, that would even shut down anti-pageants.
Honestly Manpreet could had won MU1995... I think because susmita won MU1994 and that's the reason why she didn't win. Offcourse it was a back to back victory.. Honestly Manpreet had better communication skills than Susmita according to their questions and answers.
Appearances had higher importance back then. If you observe, the winners have a softer facial features during that time. Manpreet had more prominent harsh facial features (which are beautiful as well) but I don't think the judges were looking for that. Manpreet would have won in the current IMG era. Back then, most winners were more docile and sweet (like sushmita). Just my observation.

It’s always the most well rounded person, she was and is all those things but she only beat Chelsi in one category that night in the scoring (Evening Gown). She wasn’t robbed, it’s one person’s destiny to win and it wasn’t hers it was Chelsi’s.

The 90's was truly the Indian Golden times, I am beyond happy that India is regaining its momentum. I will say, one thing you wont ever beat an Indian contestant is in an interview, no matter if they placed in a low or high position, the poise, the effortless way of speaking, i could enjoy hearing all of these women speak about serious topics without being bored

Lymarhyna D'Souza's gown is one of my favorite gowns in the 90's it's so beautiful and can still be worn in today's pageants! On the other hand Suzanna Sablok is the sexiest and has that Baywatch body! It was an impressive run for India in the 90's, the last 4 reps (1997-2000) have distinctively beautiful faces!

The 90's was truly the Indian Golden times, I am beyond happy that India is regaining its momentum. I will say, one thing you wont ever beat an Indian contestant is in an interview, no matter if they placed in a low or high position, the poise, the effortless way of speaking, i could enjoy hearing all of these women speak about serious topics without being bored

Lymarhyna D'Souza's gown is one of my favorite gowns in the 90's it's so beautiful and can still be worn in today's pageants! On the other hand Suzanna Sablok is the sexiest and has that Baywatch body! It was an impressive run for India in the 90's, the last 4 reps (1997-2000) have distinctively beautiful faces!

India should've been the first back-to-back country winner in 1994 (Sushmita Sen) and 1995 (Manpreet Brar, 1st runner up) but in 1995 they gave the crown to Chelsi Smith, Miss USA. I thought Manpreet Brar did the best and had the best answer in the closing final round.

Also, how awful is her smile, her teeth are so protruded. She definitely looks better than most girl but miss universe should be the perfect of all.. the winner is way beautiful than Manpreet
