Good review. Seems like a logical choice. However...although it's unlikely you will encounter a lot of condenser mikes at a live gig that require 48 volt phantom power, all it takes is one and now four of your mic inputs can no longer be used for dynamic mics. The 48 volts might not hurt them or effect sound but can't take a chance. Tascam should have installed 48 volt switches for EACH XLR input. If you are video shooting and recording a live gig typically the band has their own mixer, PA speakers and microphones so you have to be prepared. If you're a big production company and supply the microphones then you wouldn't be using a $361 interface anyway. But I might buy one for my minimal needs...
Hi! Please enlighten me about one thing: can I connect a dynamic mic on an imput that has phantom power on? Or does the +48V cause some problem or noise? Because I'd like to connect more than 4 dynamic mics and just one condenser, so that a dynamic mic would have to work with the pantom power on.
I do this all the time with no issue. You have to be very careful with vintage ribbon mics, but even most modern ribbon mics will handle the phantom power today.
As an amatuer home recorder, I think the recording quality was very good and we didn't notice too much latency while recording. It was far superior to the previous Tascam model we owned. I can't compare it to a Motu. I have a friend who professionally records with a Motu and his recordings are much better than mine. :D I have used the Tascam US16-16x08 all over my bands recordings. Maybe that will help? morticulture.bandcamp.com/
I'm looking for a sound interface which allows playback of eight completely independent channels, i.e. 8-channel audio. Is this interface suitable for this aim? Thanks.
Hola muchachos, que características tiene que tener la pc para que esta placa funcione bien y no meta ruidos (tengo una i3 4gb de ram y cuando quiero grabar o escuchar algo escucho con entrecortes o ruidos extraños). Saben a que se puede deber?
I think you use the software interface from Tascam. You can download it here and install the Settings Panel. That should help you configure those outputs. tascam.com/us/product/us-16x08/download
I haven't seen such a bad video for a long time. This is how you present a house: There are windows. And - of course - there's a front door. Please, please don't ever make another video.
Good review and good job keeping it under 5 mins. Quick and to the point. Thanks.

Shure SM57 no problem, then?!
No problem!
So the computer can record audio from all 8 pres and the 8 quarter inch inputs together? At the same time?
How good is the Sound quality and latency in a DAW compared to Motu per say? I know it's a different price range. Thanks for the review.

tnx for sharing
Is this interface used singing too or is it used for recording/playning instruments only.
I used it to record vocals and every instrument in our band.
Awesome man, thanks.
can i connect the line out to my desk monitars?
Yeah, that's how I had it set up. 1-2 outputs to monitors.
Thanks this was very helpful.
So the only way to control input level of the rear inputs is by using separate preamps?
Yeah. I don't think there's a software GUI to control it...but not positive.
Nice review bro, i have a question, can i record drum using 8 xlr input, which is in 1-6 is dynamic and 7-8 is condenser?
Yeah, that will work. Just make sure you flip on phantom power for channels 5-8 to power those condenser mics.
Hi, is this m1 chip mac compatible?

suitable for this aim? Thanks.
Yes it should do that.

necesitas un ram mas grande
Help!! How can you control the ouput volume of the levels 3/4 5/6 ect.

Does it have ADAT?
Nope
Will it work with Logic Pro and GarageBand?
