the death at 50:50 had me in stiches when i quickly realized what happened, and you can visibly see MatPat's confusion into understanding into grudging acceptance on his face while Mirror Mat chuckles in the back is beautiful.
So close to getting the good ending. The rat lures the cat to the piano & the cat kills the piano monster. But you need to lure the rat to the piano as soon as the lights go out. You can also use the candle to speak to the family members spirits before you jump down to the final area. Saving the cat & speaking to everyone at the end gets you the good ending.

I would absolutely love that! And like Izuru Kamukura said, if Matt feels more comfortable being off screen, then just have him off to the side when he plays! I think it would be so much fun!
My take on this is that for each sister the game is a representative of their personal traumas. With Tabby, her monster was a puppet. She felt controlled and like she had to play the perfect daughter and sister and be stable. At the end she killed them off/cut them out of her life and left the house, but she still lost a part of herself in that house represented by her arm. But after she left, Melody was left behind. The household devolved further with the mother sinking into her alcoholism even more and the father is passed out drunk and/or wallowing in the hidden room which is a whole other level of trauma for Melody since her dead friend is there. In this, Melody also was freed by her family dying which represents cutting them out. Her monster was the whole mask metaphor. The dysfunctional family affected Melody with the depression. She pretended to be okay and distanced herself. When she died she was finally free of the mask that she was putting on. When Melody was free she met with Tabby again. They reconciled but were still distant. Im still not fully sure on what all of the basement represents with the dolls and shadow people and Tabby’s body, but I’m happy to hear others’ takes. I’m looking forward to seeing if the developer does more with other npcs like Toby or the mom or even has another one where Tabby and Melody work together
There's also a photo on the wall of the TV scene that's interesting. It looks like the "Neighbor". It makes me wonder if the "helpful neighbor" character actually ended up taking them in. Especially since they're kids and presumably need someone to take care of them. Someone they both (or at least Tabby) recognizes as a helpful or kind individual would make sense.

I just want to add something you missed. The dad hidden in the vault with dead body of Toby tied up. And killing him as soon as it gets a chance might represent that Dad is no more normal. Dad is still hidden somewhere inside his heart(secret vault) where, he's trapped with whatever he did with Toby. And it's killing him everytime. He's not able to get past it, he has lost the touch of reality and is lost somewhere inside wallowing at his mistakes. Until his daughter helps him get past it. His daughter helps him accept the past and let the secret be free and not chain it to his heart. That's also a big reason he does everything to protect his another child. Get out of the depression, even when he's not functional himself. (He crawls weirdly). He might not be perfect yet, but he's out of his vault, back into reality and will die protecting his daughter from being dragged into darkness of depression beneath the surface of the house. This whole game revolves around the effect that Toby's death had on whole family/house. No one is fine. But they slowly start to get normal-er.
50:54 made me laugh. It was so unexpected, but it definitely fits the game. It seems like he never figured out you could hide behind the painting in the piano room. Of course, I didn't learn that until after I beat it as well.

I would think the developers wanted the player to be patient and run out to get the flute immediately after the piano checked the room, but Matpat was trying to blow through it as fast as possible thinking the game was on a stricter schedule.

I feel like the parents’ abuse (the dad murdered Toby the bf, is violent to both his own children) and neglect (the mum’s drinking/ boarding up their murder bedroom/ not getting the kids away from the violent dad, both parents’ inattention to the safety of the house, both parents’ non response to a suicidal daughter) makes them thematically incongruous to redeem. The recovery of the girls seems to rest on them leaving the house and taking care of one another- either physically or metaphorically leaving them behind.
I just watched the entire House series to refresh myself to be able to understand this DLC and I really wish you guys would put a “Part (?)” in multi part series. When I’m binging old ones, I need to scroll all the way back on the channel to when they came out because sometimes I click on the recommended episode of the same series and it’s not the next one, if they had the number in the title I could see that right away.

to be honest MatPat in all the videos for House, he had gone back and forth between brother/friend/ and boyfriend. In some videos he tried to stick one more frequently (not for the whole video tho). lol at 1 point he got confused and thought the brother/boyfriend were 2 separate people.
Just a quick note to Mat and Steph, even though Steph isn't usually here. You two were literally my childhood, I watched yall since I was 7. Now I'm 15, I've been watching you guys for more than half my life and the content is amazing. Great job you guys. Keep up the good work, we're all proud of you.
90% of the theory for this video could have been answered by talking to the other characters, especially before going down into the hole, but I legitimately laughed when he tripped on the scissors. But honestly, the trial and error doesn't feel so extreme in this DLC. The songs all seem to have a single use, somewhat hinted in the journal and their names. Grandma to awaken Granny's spirit, Scream to make a high pitch, Friend to call a friend (to lead to its death) and so on. And most of the threats seem straightforward to hide from or dodge. I get there's also a time limit, but it seems like the game benefits for taking a moment to assess what all you have at your disposal. Still mostly enjoyed the video though!
One thing I find really interesting about this game is how the doll tells Melody she's not as strong as her sister, when in fact, she's much stronger. Unless I'm missing something in the game, that is. Unlike Tabby, she doesn't snap and execute all or any of the members of her family, and she kills the Reaper with only a small pair of scissors. She can bend the household to her will with just a flute. No gun, no axe. Very interesting story.
But, Tabby went and ended the curse of the house. She actually had to go to another dimension to do it. (Through the clock.) Although Melody saved her family, it didn't end the house's curse. We saw that in Tabby's run when she saved the family as well. It just started all over again.

I think they're equally strong but it different ways. Neither's accomplishments make the other's lesser somehow. I say this as a sister myself. It's very easy to compare yourself to siblings and find yourself falling short.

Because you asked for creepypasta suggestions: I have many suggestions, but my absolute favorite is "Has anyone heard of the left right game?" It is long, but it's incredible. The world building, the characters, idk what I love more. There are mysteries I would look forward to hearing your take on. I'll continue to suggest this until I get a yes or no, so I know the team has seen it.
If there is one thing to say, it's at least Matt's content is different from other's who usually show how they slowly piece together on what to do but Matpat kind of does that but does things in sometimes the wrong way. Like with the piano where the easiest thing people do is go in and hide first to get back stamina and then book it to the door. Although I am surprised that Matpat was able to just book it from time to time. There are other things he disagrees with that is more that he could do something about it but doesn't realize or realize a lot of things like getting the candle early by just turning off the light in the room, but hey that's just how he is. Without other Matt, some of these games probably would have even more parts to it.

90% of the theory for this video could have been answered by talking to the other characters, especially before going down into the hole, but I legitimately laughed when he tripped on the scissors. But honestly, the trial and error doesn't feel so extreme in this DLC. The songs all seem to have a single use, somewhat hinted in the journal and their names. Grandma to awaken Granny's spirit, Scream to make a high pitch, Friend to call a friend (to lead to its death) and so on. And most of the threats seem straightforward to hide from or dodge. I get there's also a time limit, but it seems like the game benefits for taking a moment to assess what all you have at your disposal.
Still mostly enjoyed the video though!
One thing I find really interesting about this game is how the doll tells Melody she's not as strong as her sister, when in fact, she's much stronger. Unless I'm missing something in the game, that is.
Unlike Tabby, she doesn't snap and execute all or any of the members of her family, and she kills the Reaper with only a small pair of scissors. She can bend the household to her will with just a flute. No gun, no axe. Very interesting story.
But, Tabby went and ended the curse of the house. She actually had to go to another dimension to do it. (Through the clock.) Although Melody saved her family, it didn't end the house's curse. We saw that in Tabby's run when she saved the family as well. It just started all over again.

@@pollyc.1957 Well, DLC I guess. But, if it is cannon, it could be a route before the true ending. One where she tried to save her sister and it didn't work.
I think they're equally strong but it different ways. Neither's accomplishments make the other's lesser somehow.
I say this as a sister myself. It's very easy to compare yourself to siblings and find yourself falling short.

In his defense, others might be cutting out the parts where they fail... but still, the others let's plays I've seen figured out that they can hide behind the painting in the piano room and come out to grab the flute right after the piano looks around, and that way they have more time to get out...
@@swordcrab3181 I don't think he's even realizing that the eyes looking out of the piano makes a difference. He thinks he has to dash for it like it's automatic. Ironic, since I'd expect him to experiment with the environment more as a theorist, before assuming what is or isn't happening.

If there is one thing to say, it's at least Matt's content is different from other's who usually show how they slowly piece together on what to do but Matpat kind of does that but does things in sometimes the wrong way. Like with the piano where the easiest thing people do is go in and hide first to get back stamina and then book it to the door. Although I am surprised that Matpat was able to just book it from time to time.
There are other things he disagrees with that is more that he could do something about it but doesn't realize or realize a lot of things like getting the candle early by just turning off the light in the room, but hey that's just how he is. Without other Matt, some of these games probably would have even more parts to it.
