Difference between bank and boat anglers is… banks users cast as far away from the bank as they can and boat users cast as close to the bank as they can 😂
I used to do a lot of bank fishing and wading for trout but never did for bass because there was never any good public access at any of the lakes around me. You definitely needed a boat.
I’m putting a lot of rip rap along my shoreline for erosion, but it’s also on the north shoreline. I look forward to seeing how it warms up and pulls fish in during late winter when that ice is coming off!
That rip rap should act pretty much like a fish magnet! I'm curious to see what video you get from it. I've not seen a ton of footage showing bass interacting with rip rap.
@@LowBrowFishing the rock is expensive, but I am trying to place it now when the water it low and then hopefully when it is normal there will be a decent amount of it down in the water column. I think I'll need one more dump truck full to finish the project. I'll be glad when it's done - I get a lot more muscle aches now than I did thirty years ago. Lol
I use a Jika Rig when fishing from the bank. I also make my own Jika Rig: Hook , drop shot weight & split ring. Swimbaits, grubs & creatures work excellent on it.
Bank is dank! Only thing I don't like is the "luck of the draw" feeling. There's a lot of days only small fish are at the bank, and boaters could theoretically go find the big ones.
I really appreciate it! Swim jigs are next on the list. But I'm very picky when it comes to the jigs I put out. It took almost a full year before I was happy with the football jig.
I love the idea of bank fishing but I have never had much success. I have spot I can get to in my boat that are impossible to reach from shore which I can't insane fish from. I caught 90 bass one day from a single spot way out in the lake. I mean.. maybe I caught some more than once. There was a huge school of them and I would take a quick pic, release, and get my bait back in the water as fast as I could. My fishing buddy got 35 that day for a total between us of 130 bass in about 2 hours. I know another spot where you can catch gar, catfish, and the occasional bass, just about as fast as you can toss the bait in the water. Gar is hard to clean but tastes really good if prepared right. Most people hate them but I think they are just afraid of learning to clean a new fish. Gar are basically southern pike. Everybody loves pike. I have several spots I can put jug lines to farm catfish bringing home dozens of pounds a day when I run them. Nothing like that can be done from bank fishing without ridiculously more effort. Yes bank fishing is great, and if it was the only way I could fish I would do it, but you just can't beat the freedom of a boat to access the entire lake, or the speed of traveling from one dead spot to another until you find a lively group of fish.
Having a boat can be nice, for sure. But there are some folks who can't afford a boat, or have no desire for one. I like my boats and use them often, but sometimes I just want to hoof it from the bank.
@@LowBrowFishing I get that. I don't travel as well as I did when I was younger. Hoofing it can be dangerous :). That said, everyone can afford a boat. Its just a matter of how cleaver they are and what their expectations are. I got my boat from an old farmer. He hired me to put in a fence gate for him. When that was done he pointed at an old shed in the middle of his field and said. "What would you want to tear that down and haul off the debris". I said "I see you have a shiny new boat in your shop over there". He had a 1/2 worried, 1/2 ammused expression like (he can't possibly think I'll trade him that $30,000 boat for tearing down a shed). He says "Yea..." I said "I also see the old one is parked around back and somehow I doubt you are ever going to use it again. I'll tear down the shed for the old boat and that kayak sitting by it.". He thought for a moment and said "Deal!" The boat was an early 1980s model with a 50 hp johnson motor. It was in a bit of disrepair, but it was a starting point. I have done a lot of upgrades to it over the years but all I actually had to do to get the motor running good was put in a couple carburetor kits and replace one of the coils. A few minor repairs to some of the wiring and I was in business. Its a 19 foot aluminum hybrid v / flat bottom, that is very stable and does 30 mph wide open. I'm pretty happy with it. The kayak I priced later was worth about 700 new and was in mint condition. I gave it to my brother who turned it into a micro fishing rig as you have probably seen all over YT. He loved it and used it for years. So really we got two fishing boats out of it. The shed was covered in aluminum sheet metal, rather than the more normal tin. It also had a decent amount of wiring in it. We stacked all that on the trailer with the trash on the bottom and metals on top, then stopped by the scrap yard on the way home netting around $250 for the scrap metal. This more than paid for all the parts I needed for the boat as well as a few good quality fishing rod holders to mount on it. Obviously everyone can't find this exact deal, but there are plenty of deals out there that don't cost money, or a lot of money if a person is ready and willing to do some work or make a trade. I was looking on Craig's list the other day and saw several boats for less than $100 which appeared in good condition. I would imagine someone got them as inheritance, had no idea what they were worth and just wanted them gone. The point is, if anyone reading this needs a boat, start networking. Tell your family and friends, look on social media market place post, and you will find one you can afford probably sooner than later.

So true and so funny!
You aren't wrong!
And some days bank anglers have better luck than boaters and other days boat anglers have betterdays.
I only ever fish from the bank. A ned rig is my favorite but I also like the Waco and Texas rigs.
Those are both great ways to catch bass from the bank!

Try to find good water access from the bank can be the biggest challenge!
@@LowBrowFishing I have a rigged out kayak now so that has made my fishing way more fun
Thanks for all the tips. You made my fishing experience great! Thanks again.

Thank you so much for watching!
Your jigs are great! Thanks for remembering us bank fishermen! These tips are going to help!
Thank you so much!

I haven't used a jika rig much but I know a couple of guys who really like to use them!
I fish from the bank and your tips have helped me catch a lot more fish! How you don't have 100k subs is a complete mystery!
Thanks so much for watching! I'm glad the tips are working for you!
I have a nice boat but there are a lot of bank anglers out there. Like you said, we're all looking tor the same clues to catch fish.
I think there are a lot more bank anglers than most TH-camrs realize.
I only fish from my small dock but a lot of what you say makes sense.
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
Another great video! Thanks for posting this!👊👍

I really like fishing from the bank! In the fall a lot of those bigger fish can be caught from the bank!
Just placed an order for a few of your jigs, when can I expect a swim jig?

Caught my PB yesterday on a drop shot. 5.63 pounds here in NJ. Must have been in 2-3' of water.
Congrats! That's an amazing fish!
