    The mid teir tools quality is better than lets say 30 years ago - especially with Amazon and on-line sites. Great way to get quality tools for a less than tool truck price.

      I think that is the biggest thing right there with ease of getting good tools for a solid price .

    I'm happy to see another guy talking about mid tier tools. I bought Snap-on when I started turning wrenches for a living in 1979...but I left the mechanic field behind as far as doing it for a living. The mid tier is where it's at for me. Capri, Tekton, Astro...mid - tier tool companies. The young guys need to understand that. I still get some Snap-on, I got a pair of pliers and a stubby 1/4 inch ratchet off the Snap-on truck this week. But 90% of what I buy these days are mid tier and a better value. It's good to hear from a guy who is turning wrenches for a living talking about value instead of taking the easy way and preaching Snap-on, Mac, and Matco. Those tools are great, I'd love to have all Snap-on, but i would have to cancel my annual trip to Mexico for 3 weeks if i bought 100% Snap-on. Keep it up, my friend. Jeff of Jeff's garage is killing it in this category. His subscribers numbers are rising quickly.

    As someone new to the industry, I’m looking into the upper mid tier stuff. I love to see you review some of the brands I’m looking at. Channellock, gearwrench, tekton,vim. I think it’d be a good idea to “create” a mid level toolbox out of those brands, as certain brands have certain products that are better.

    • @classiclinesautomotive
      @classiclinesautomotive  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I will definitely start that project this week . I do have a video on tekton tools . If I had the funds I would love to make the ultimate mid level tool box from wrenches and sockets to scan tools .

      @@classiclinesautomotive I use their entire lineup of pliers sockets and wrenches, alongside a matching sae/metric set of bluepoint wrenches, for duel wrenching needs. Not automotive, industrial mechanical ⚙️. Heavy presses and hydemech type pneumatic saws. For a lot of my specialty tools I use the the tekton lineup. Like their picks punches and deadblows.

    To bad Sunnex has gone Chinese for they're impacts now. They're touched if they think people wont notice, folks are far more educated and care more about the origins of They're tools these days. Really sucks for shifty warranty replacements now. Totally agree with your mid tier tool recommendations and checking rebrands man👍

    I have GP, Sunex, and Gearwrench sockets. The issue ive had with my GW chromes was the plating coming off. Ive cut myself several times. Maybe I just git a bad batch, idk. Theyre only about 3 years old. I ended up trading them in plus some other stuff and got a good price on some snap on sockets a few weeks ago. You can definitely tell the difference between the quality between snapon and gw. I paid a little over $800 for the snapons which is still alot but its better than the $1400 it was gonna be lol. If you work at home or are just a lube tech. The GW are great for that. If you end up doing a lot more, than you might have to upgrade them sooner. Like i said, maybe I got a bad batch. Idk. I just wasnt going to warranty a lot of sockets. Was dumb.

      I think the only gearwrench sockets I have are the bolt biter ones for rounded fasteners . Damn to cut yourself on a socket that sucks . Hell that works out getting some money off from the snap on dude .

      @@classiclinesautomotive yeah, since i had the 3 heights in 3/8 drive, he gave me $60 for each set. I only paid $70ish for each so i didnt complain too much. The snap ons definitely are better though. Theres nothing wrong with buying cheaper stuff until there is lol. Is what it is.

    I have channel lock pliers i am a big fan of them... As far as my good chrome sockets used to be va,vv,g1: and g2 usa craftsman and great neck usa and OEM tools was my 1/2 deep impact sockets, and now it's gearwrench and tekton sets and Pittsburgh 1/2 inch Dr sets of sae and metric deep sockets, and i used to have two mobile, junkyard crawl/crash kits that stayed in the trunk of the 86 Buick Regal Factory V8 Sport Coupe Oldsmobile roller cam V8, and the daily driver 78 Chevy c20 custom deluxe long bed truck and then a 86 chevy k20 custom deluxe long bed well used and beat to hell 4x4 farm truck and now its a 2000 dodge ram laramie slt quad cab long bed 1500 4x4 and the crash kit is husky brand h194mts mechanic tool set and the usa g1 and G2 craftsman professional mechanic tool set like 165pc i had since i was in my mid 20's i got from my momma and dad for Christmas,is now the tekton complete set of 3/8 Dr shallow and deep sae and metric socket sets including the breaker bar in the lid and like three extensions... Although since i have the gearwrench sets for my tool box and the big 1/2 dr sockets from tekton that set is probably going to end up in the garage tool box

    I gave my nephew a lot of my tools to start off as a new tech. I told him to stick with the mid level tools when he needs to buys something to avoid getting into debt. Have you heard of anything about SK once they were bought by that Chinese company? I'm curious to see if their quality went down. I still have some of my grandfather's SK Wayne's from the 60's. They are built like tanks lol

      Definitely great advice for your nephew . Debt is never a fun thing and really sucks when starting out . As far as the new SK tools . The last I seen of them on an independent tool truck they had them marked up near Snap On prices so I backed out of that . Wouldn't mind getting some of thier products just don't want to pay an arm and a leg.

    Just about everything tekton has is great the wrenches especially considering what snap on wrenches cost tekton are amazing. Sunnex sockets pry bars etc ive had great luck with especially the sockets you cannot beat them for the price ive had impact sunnex swivels for years never broke one however sunnex wrenches i find are junk ive got crows feet and stubby wrenches they dont fit nice at all. Also cant beat gearwrench sockes extensions ratchets etc again not a big fan of gear wrench wrenches everything else great.

I think I may have 2 or 3 sets of sunex wrenches granted they're not used often . I love my gear wrench double box end wrenches those things rock . I don't think I've used any of thier regular combo wrenches .
