Those are really nice looking boots. I love that chestnut oiled latigo. I just bought a pair of Caswell Carvers in the same leather and started breaking them in today.
After last year's Dome, I realized I didn't want to do that again. My pair did place (20th!) and I wore them every day to work. The leather evolved really nicely but there's SO much life left in them. Agreed that even in the non-work category some are just thrashed.
You’re boots looks really good. One of my pair that I use shows patina much easier than my Tan Teton. I use mine for work and private, I crawl in and out of Ventilation units over steel pipes and so on so they have gotten some marks because of that. But there are boots in the competition that looks like they are 5 years old after just two months.
Yes that’s understandable, if your in the work boots. I also understand that there are always people who just do everything in their boots but the amount of worn down boots shocked me. But I think it’s still an awesome competition and experience being part of the community!
@@willempasman827 absolutely. Last year they repeatedly reposted some boots over and over again, and that pair won the contest, I can see the same thing this year, so if they win it’s no surprise for me.
This is my second dome and I think I won’t participate this year. Ordered a nice pair of kudu side zips from Briselblack and I don’t want to beat the shit out of them. Kinda goes against the point of buying nice expensive well made boots.
Agreed with you on the thunderdome. My nearly 5-months old boots look like 5-months old boots. Why would someone spend $400 to who knows how much on a product and purposely try to destroy it? Different strokes! Kind of fun but probably won’t enter again.
@@thatsAkeepernow I think the idea is great, celebrate the passion for well made Boots together and the ‘winners’ get prices! But I don’t like element to almost fabricate patina. Some of those boots look 3/4 years old after 6 months. I won’t enter again.
I 100% agree with you. I feel like some people are purposely kicking shit just to rush the patina
100%
I agree with your thoughts. Thanks for the nice update on your entry; they look very nice.
I always thought the thunderdome was a really strange idea, exactly because anyone could see this situation coming a mile away.

Nice! Share some pictures now and then!

Man I just wear my boots and they wear how they wear. Same with my selvege jeans.

Exactly!
Ya dudes clearly are kicking belt sanders for patina.
