I've always liked the MIG-29 a lot. I have a model of a 'Fulcrum S' at home and it was always my default plane of choice in LOMAC. Thanks for the upload!
Even though I have deep respect for the MiG, my favorite is the Su, it's simply the best aircraft the world has to offer. Compared to the f-22, its only deficiency is the lack of stealth technology, which in my opinion isn't a major flaw.
Something to be said for sticking to a slide rule to design a classic 'sky brawler'. The Soviets may have come late to a design cue but they take it to the limit when they got there.
@KOGR11 Well technically the separate bureaus still exist as divisions within the OAK. They can still compete somewhat, just everything is handled under one overall company.
@BitnikGr Not quite correct. Mikoyan, Sukhoi, Illyushi, Irkut, Tupolev, and Yakovlev, basically all the major Russian aircraft design bureaus, have all been merged into a new company called the United Aircraft Corporation, or the Obyedinyonnaya Aviastroitelnaya Korporatsiya (OAK).
In America's first Gulf War, the first casualty of action was an American who's F-18 was shot down by an older, more experienced Iraqi pilot flying a Mig-25 of all planes. Crazy..
lol the end was very silly! not enough money? haha, well maybe its just an old film and they were just speculating with a best guess... but the Mig-29 and Su-27 are set to be replaced by the Su-50 5th gen. fighter by about 2025...

@HalcyonSkies doesnt that affect their compititiveness? those design bureaus used to compete a lot.
Also, Russia has upgraded all its Mig-29's and Su-27's to (M or SM) standard.

It's so old... yes it was all true in mid-90's about capitalism and lack of money... today it's different.
