I feel like it's pretty obvious that he was doing it to save David. That's why he says "You have to trust me Mason... You have to". He's most likely tied up with the radio being held by Menendez, so he has to trick them without giving it away, otherwise Menendez would have killed him and David. Not only would it have made no sense for Hudson to betray them, he sacrifices himself to save Woods and David in the end regardless, why would he betray them only to nominate himself to die anyways?
it was literally said in dialogue by him that he only did because he had david. I don't get why it's a topic of "did hudson betray", literally confirmed that he only did because of him being captured and david being threatened
The only reason Hudson betrayed them was to protect David and probably his own children as well cuz if they got David they probably know about them to and probably threatened them. It makes sense as to why Hudson did what he did cuz we know mason would want Hudson to do what he did if he knew it was about saving david
Hudson immediately before his death implies he did what he had to stop Menendez from killing David. From the moment he knew David's life was in danger, Hudson was a dead man. If he faced Alex and Woods and having to tell them David was killed, then Woods would've killed him immediately
So an oath to a country means everything, until one family is one the line then suddenly the oath and duty is 2nd place. Would not want anyone like that on my Black Ops team lol way way way too easy to compromise
Hudson is my favorite character from bo2, he was cold but he deeply cared about his men, he gave his life to protect David and Woods because that's what Mason would have wanted for his best friend and kid.
I dont think he betrayed them, not willingly at least. With all the context laid out it seems more likely that Menendez got some leverage over him and used him as bait
Menendez has no leverage over Hudson. Menendez used the CIA agents under his payrolls to kidnapped Davin and Hudson himself which he forced the latter to betrayed them.
I believe that the theory of hudson trying to protect david makes alot of sense only because menendez had resentment and wanted revenge for his sisters death so he wanted to kill mason and his son
When raiding the mansion, there’s even a secret CIA memo file that can be found during the mission (an Easter egg) which unlocks a voice line from Mason that he says in the mission Suffer With Me “what about the cia memo”
I think Menendez caught Hudson's guard off, he didn't expected his family getting captured by Menendez so he could be easily manipulated in getting Woods and Mason to fell for that trap... i know Hudson had some fishy things going in the CIA but he was loyal to his friends, he and Mason did everything to save Woods back in Angola... he died a hero's death...
Your theories seem to make sense. My personal bet is that Hudson did it to save his family, though why was he still in Afghanistan trying to cover up his connection to Menedez? They must have taken a long time to mess with each other. See also that Norriega knew to ask Hudson about the new goal (because he probably knew the plan from the beginning) And I have one more question about the plot because I see that you understand the topic. Why in Afghanistan Kravchenko says to Woods that Menendez wants Woods to suffer, as the mission in the Menedez Residence takes place AFTER the mission in Afghanistan. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Are the missions not in chronological order? Hang in there, waiting for more theories bro :) PS: Sorry for my any language mistakes, but English is my second language :)
I feel he had to betray them after the mission “time and fate” since doing the Afghanistan mission, he’s denying the fact Mendenz is more powerful than he realizes and if he did spoke- he’s a dead man. He either already knew the fact but is being threatened or has no idea and was more suspicious towards the CIA that he got captured and was forced to betray them.
i think the cia were making deals with menandez which is why hudson was trying to keep him alive but but later on when the whole building blew up menendez decided to get revenge and captured hudson and david before the mission
Thank god someone reposted this, I was so confused at that goddamned Kravchenko line but I think I have it worked out. In ‘Time and Faith’ the original mission was to get Menendez ALIVE. After Woods asked ‘Do we smoke this bastard’, Hudson told him that’s ‘not the mission’, there are plenty of good reasons as to why the CIA would like him alive, Salazar explained that the Menendaz Catel was very powerful, from the ‘legends of Managua’ under his dad to gun runner, and reformed the Cartel. This also cooperates what Kravchenko said about Menendez being ‘more powerful than you know’. Meaning Hudson’s not covering for Menedez’s interest, morerather they’re direct orders. In this mission, you are highly incentivised to get a “CIA DOSSIER”. Which highly implies that someone in the Melendez Cartel has access to such documents. This could be, in my mind, 2 people. Noriega or Hudson. I lean towards Noriega, you can Google that fact that he had helped the CIA, perhaps he could’ve gotten those dossiers. Hudson isn’t as likely, he would have too much to lose, the only way it could make sense would have to be Theory 3, notice how Hudson is cut off before he can explain what happened to his 3 kids, you could look at it at face value because he wouldn’t want his children growing up without their dad or, perhaps he could’ve explained what the cartel had done to ransom his family. By ‘Suffer with Me’, those flashbacks and voice snippets about Kravchenko play, the way I see it, Kravchenko refers to ‘people in the CIA’ as general moles, Hudson is upset as he is loyal to the CIA and sees him as a snake. By this point, unless Hudson has had previously dealings with Menendez (which I find unlikely), Woods would’ve seen Kravchenko as the reason he was in the Hanoi Hilton and sent the god forsaken swamp, they’re plenty of rational reasons for Hudson’s concern. This would’ve also explained how Hudson’s family could’ve been ransomed (if they were), from the previously mentioned moles in the CIA, it would be no easy feat to gain a hold of a CIA operatives family, unless he had General moles. Noriega is much better fit if we’re talking about one singular mole, as Suffer with Me is initially an extraction mission, so when Woods recalls what Kravchenko said, it could just as well be in reference to Noriega and his possible connections. Hudson would’ve only been strung along at this point in lue of David being held captive. So yeah, rant over, tell me if I’m wrong. TLDR: Hudson could only really be the ‘mole’ if his family were held as ransom prior to ‘Time and Faith’. The Menedez cartel was very powerful at this point, as cooperated by Kravchenko and would’ve used these moles to get ahold of Hudson’s family. Then there’s Noriega, who would make much more sense to be the big ‘mole’ (singular) as not only does he betray you, but he also would have access to the Dossiers found in Time and Faith, and betrayed you once again in Suffer with Me.
Also, I think that Woods line about how he ‘should’ve smoked him in ‘Nam’ is just a general statement about how he was so angry that he was tricked into “killing” his best friend, how he was powerless to do anything and how it was Hudson, of all people, telling him to ‘shoot him in the fucking head’…
Yeah, Hudson in bo1 doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to just flip and turn traitor for no reason. I think he was protecting David. Also maybe the reason he said to shoot Alex in the head is so he wouldn’t suffer.
One of the few things you can criticize about BO2 was that a simple drug lord could infiltrate the CIA and pull strings from the shadows and cause a lot of damage
My theory has been that Hudson was captured by Menendez at some point during the initial stages of Noriega's capture (hence the silence until they are close to Noriega's location), and was forced at gunpoint (or through threats made toward his family backed up by surveillance photos of Jenny and their kids) to both set and spring the trap on Alex and Frank, in return Menendez would not harm Hudson's family, though he would kidnap but not harm David just to prove to Frank what he is capable of.
Addler but I seriously doubt Hudson would do this. Maybe betray on a smaller scale, like hiding the nukes, but not purposefully get Woods and Mason killed.
Honestly I've been wondering this for so many years but never got a straight answer as to how David and Hudson ended up in that situation and how Menendez successfully lured Woods and Mason. Is there an official COD wiki that explains it?
Yeah just type in the full name of the character in this situation with fandom spaced apart from it and go from there But ultimately menendez did in fact have people in the CIA working for him ...in the mission where his sister dies there is a CIA document in that bunker and picking that up gives extra dialogue from mason during the mission where he dies
No. The Call of Duty wiki is run by fans and can be edited by anyone. So they are not trustworthy. The only way to know something like that for sure is from the mouth of Treyarch.
Hudson didn't betray Mason and Woods willingly. Menendez has CIA agents under his payrolls to kidnapped David and Hudson himself. Menendez forced Hudson to provide them with false information to Mason and Woods under the threats that he will kill David.
Hudson only turned when Raul had David and Hudson’s family. He did the best he could but got himself and mason killed. But ultimately let David live to save the world in bo2
@@Squiddy-go1du I was wondering, what if the next BO campaign was where Mason has been for the last 30 years? Maybe he got picked up for something important.
Come on, even as a kid i understood this. He had to do it, at first but u see he regretted everything he did. He mentioned his family and kids (probably black mail) so i’m guessing Menéndez got a hold of them somehow and seeing as he’s a big family man he couldn’t let them get hurt so he decided to cooperate with menéndez for this bit. But as you can see he also has David which is important due to him promising Mason that he would protect him no matter the cost if he would ever return back to the force. In this big decisions he had to decide who to pick… In my head i’m thinking he could’ve picked Woods? but we all know Woods and Menéndez has had beef all the way to when Woods was lost and captured in Nicaragua. So Hudson, knew that Menéndez was going to eventually try and save him for last, Now as you can see with all this Hudson knew what he did was wrong and messed up in the beginning but, im sure he did everything he could thatll eventually save his family, yes he did betray them but for his own purposes and promises to others (Mason) In the end, he decides that enough was enough, he didn’t want anymore people he cared and loved for hurt. He could’ve easily chosen at the end of the remaining 3 and if my theory (about menendez saving woods for last) was wrong, then Hudson could’ve simply chosen Woods to be killed and save himself from being a crippled, part time human water fountain. In the end Hudson hesitated but eventually knew that all of his decisions would lead to the right outcome. Bro chose himself in the end cause he knew he was wrong, he knew that there was no other way he could’ve chosen David, and he honestly felt all the guilt in that moment. So he decided that he would be the last person to suffer. But that was just my idea in my 11 year old brain, idk if i’m somewhat accurate then cool 🤷🏽♂️
Chances are it’s a combination of the 2nd and 3rd theories put together for both David and his own family. As far as the first theory it could also play into the other two yet sort of odd because why would he need to lie about Menendez being dead. Still all three could work together.
BO1, BO4(kinda) & CW Hudson was acting normal but there was something about him in BO2 that was off(Before Menendez forced him) weirder than usual......
this was literally established in the game. also how did hudson go from a cool, badass, ice cube and loyal manz (bo1 hudson), to being pretty much a dickhead (bocw hudson, though its understandable from the heroes POV), to being an L manz to the point where he ends up costing Mason's life (not in my story lmao), Woods' legs and his own life
I’m not sure if Hudson betrayed Mason and Woods but was coerced into doing it, my theory is that Menendez kidnapped Hudson, abducted David, then threatened Hudson that he will kill David, if he didn’t give Mason and Woods false intel. Of course Hudson couldn’t tell them that he was kidnapped and coerced to give out false intel.
I feel Menéndez had Hudson under pressure way before the suffer with me mission. Menéndez knows everyone literally so him getting to Hudson and threatening him with his family makes perfect sense. I do believe Hudson was not a bad guy, just someone that wanted to protect his family and he is the reason why David Mason is still alive
I personally think there are some argument in Hudson’s defense: For one, he definitely looks like the kind to do some questionable able things for his country but not for money. Secondly, if he was Menendez’s inside man, why was he so active in killing a lot of his associates, even in his own home. Thirdly, Noriega seemed like he wanted to keep his name involvement in Menendez’s escape secret, even killing his own men, if Hudson was leading the team and he on the payroll, why would he need to go so far to convince everybody . Menendez seemed totally surprised at the whole thing which wouldn’t make sense if Hudson was his mole. It seemed more like Noriega was hijacking Hudson’s operation to gain a favor from Menendez. Fourthly, Hudson was closer to the explosion that Woods and Mason and was still recovering when Noriega’s men were carrying out the body. Maybe he was faking but it’s just as likely he was just told by the Noriega’s men that Menendez was dead. Fifthly, Kravchenko never specified that it was Hudson on his payroll, just that Menendez had people in the CIA; not even Menendez didn’t bring it up when they had them all together. If he wasn’t, it makes sense the Mujahideen, who were also working with Menendez, stranded Hudson in the dessert with the rest of his team and why Menendez killed him in the end. Yeah there are other argument that could be made: maybe Hudson needed the money and sold out his morals; maybe he and Menendez had a falling out and maybe he was trying to get rid of any connection between him and Menendez, thus, why he was killing all his associates; maybe Noriega found out about this and decided to leverage it to form a partnership with Menendez. Any of that could be true but it’s possible that it was some unknown figure in the CIA that was feeding Menendez intel and most likely told him about Hudson’s family watching over David and captured him from them and then Hudson so Menendez could lure Woods and Mason into a trap.
WAIT how did kravchenko live? he was died on the last mission in cod black ops 1 and died cause i forgot *or died with woods cause grenade at kravchenko body*
My theory is that Hudson didn’t betray and didn’t believe kravchencko when he said menedez had ppl in the cia , my theory is that Jason hudson’s closest cia agents (who are nobodies) betrayed Hudson by capturing David and threatening to KiII him
If he did i definitely think it was because Hudson got pinched. What would he have to gain by joining Cordiz Die? More than likely it was because Mendez had leverage over him
Theory 2 makes sense cause Hudson did everything to protect David from that mad man cause Mendez is crazy he would have killed David but what I still don’t understand is how is he still alive after that grenade went off
I think Hudson Wants to take over the world, but at this moment, if you look at 2:50, Noriega's face will shake his head, as if he's planning something 🤔
Tbh i was always kinda sus of Hudson. His cia connections and how he always seems to be working behind the scenes. He shows up when he’s needed but leaves without explanation.
Menendez held Hudson at a gun point telling him what to do and if he don’t do what he says he was going to kill David so Hudson choose to save David and led mason and woods to a trap to protect David and when mason and woods split menendez men jump mason and make him the nexus target and woods on the other hand Hudson told him its Menendez and your choice is to kill or something seems off and take the leg shot Instead the whole mission gives it away to be honest
I think there only 2 theories right to save David and save his family and my answer is yes bc he wants to save someone even he prepared betray someone for child or family even himself can be betrayed And my final answer is yes he did he betray woods and mason for David and his family (R.I.P mason😔🕊🌹)
If Hudson‘s family was being held captive they would have been in the basement too with woods the basement crawler with Mason the dead with Hudson the shade less and with David the basement kid

God i love old styled videos like this, brought back memories
Nah the real betrayal was tryarc could of easily added the campaign weapons to multi-player
Lol
Speaking FACTS. Why the FUCK was the little spider robot not a killstreak?
That would be a nightmare to balance.
I only think he did because Menendez had David, if all he had was Hudson I think Hudson wouldn't have betrayed them
it was literally said in dialogue by him that he only did because he had david.
1:38: we see something like that in that scene in Cold War when Hudson talks about Adler, after Woods punching him about the Operation Greenlight.
Yes, Hudson betrayed them but menendez was threating Hudson with his family. Family comes first. I can understand him.
Masons family actually
@@Deathmare235 thats worse.
So an oath to a country means everything, until one family is one the line then suddenly the oath and duty is 2nd place. Would not want anyone like that on my Black Ops team lol way way way too easy to compromise
@@TheJuggerClutch then again there were moles in the organisation also he wasn’t really hurting the country
@@TheJuggerClutch I mean he will get his punishment. He just choose family
3:21
That pump shotgun cocking sound is the m3 shotgun sound from counter strike 1.6 game. Why did activision use that gun sound from cs..
When raiding the mansion, there’s even a secret CIA memo file that can be found during the mission (an Easter egg) which unlocks a voice line from Mason that he says in the mission Suffer With Me “what about the cia memo”
I think he did betray them only to save David but I think he also probably has done some really shady stuff judging by the campaign in ColdWar
If Hudson betrayed woods and mason he wasn't gonna sacrifice him self for david and woods
See also that Norriega knew to ask Hudson about the new goal (because he probably knew the plan from the beginning)
And I have one more question about the plot because I see that you understand the topic. Why in Afghanistan Kravchenko says to Woods that Menendez wants Woods to suffer, as the mission in the Menedez Residence takes place AFTER the mission in Afghanistan. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Are the missions not in chronological order?
Hang in there, waiting for more theories bro :)
PS: Sorry for my any language mistakes, but English is my second language :)
Noriega isn’t CIA the moles are people we don’t know
@@Deathmare235 but he was an asset, as well as on the payroll
@@bezosarimovic2964 exactly an asset not a member
"Hudson and Adler could betray everyone" - change my mind
Adler true impostor 😂😂
Perseus not
Addler but I seriously doubt Hudson would do this. Maybe betray on a smaller scale, like hiding the nukes, but not purposefully get Woods and Mason killed.
I speak fluent Spanish and I never heard anyone say menendez is alive
Habla español?

These theories are in point
That made so much sense now i was wondering how David was here this whole time
Honestly I've been wondering this for so many years but never got a straight answer as to how David and Hudson ended up in that situation and how Menendez successfully lured Woods and Mason. Is there an official COD wiki that explains it?
Yeah just type in the full name of the character in this situation with fandom spaced apart from it and go from there
But ultimately menendez did in fact have people in the CIA working for him ...in the mission where his sister dies there is a CIA document in that bunker and picking that up gives extra dialogue from mason during the mission where he dies
No. The Call of Duty wiki is run by fans and can be edited by anyone. So they are not trustworthy. The only way to know something like that for sure is from the mouth of Treyarch.
Hudson in BO2 is a different guy that just so happens to have the surname Hudson in my canon
I’d say that Hudson did betray mason and woods, but for good reasons
Hudson didn't betray Mason and Woods willingly. Menendez has CIA agents under his payrolls to kidnapped David and Hudson himself. Menendez forced Hudson to provide them with false information to Mason and Woods under the threats that he will kill David.
Hudson only turned when Raul had David and Hudson’s family. He did the best he could but got himself and mason killed. But ultimately let David live to save the world in bo2
Wow! I didn't knew this channel is so interesting! Glad to subscribe!♥️
Now, it makes sense to me. Thank you for explaining 😮 so I guess no, i don't think Hudson betrayed them
What if the people in the CIA was a team led by Adler? Could be a plot for the next BO game
If the rumours are to be believed then the next Treyarch game would decanonise BO2. So that would never happen.
@@Squiddy-go1du I was wondering, what if the next BO campaign was where Mason has been for the last 30 years? Maybe he got picked up for something important.
The moles in the cia were the pantheon
Come on, even as a kid i understood this. He had to do it, at first but u see he regretted everything he did.
He mentioned his family and kids (probably black mail) so i’m guessing Menéndez got a hold of them somehow and seeing as he’s a big family man he couldn’t let them get hurt so he decided to cooperate with menéndez for this bit.
But as you can see he also has David which is important due to him promising Mason that he would protect him no matter the cost if he would ever return back to the force. In this big decisions he had to decide who to pick…
In my head i’m thinking he could’ve picked Woods? but we all know Woods and Menéndez has had beef all the way to when Woods was lost and captured in Nicaragua. So Hudson, knew that Menéndez was going to eventually try and save him for last,
Now as you can see with all this Hudson knew what he did was wrong and messed up in the beginning but, im sure he did everything he could thatll eventually save his family, yes he did betray them but for his own purposes and promises to others (Mason)
In the end, he decides that enough was enough, he didn’t want anymore people he cared and loved for hurt.
The guards also don't choke out Hudson after executing Kravchenko
What happens if we don't start the DSM transfer in loose ends
Nothing.
Ghost: We don’t have the DSM
Shepherd: Shit well I’ll need you for another mission
Good Ending
Chances are it’s a combination of the 2nd and 3rd theories put together for both David and his own family. As far as the first theory it could also play into the other two yet sort of odd because why would he need to lie about Menendez being dead. Still all three could work together.
I always thought Hudson had a gun to his head during that mission
BO1, BO4(kinda) & CW Hudson was acting normal but there was something about him in BO2 that was off(Before Menendez forced him) weirder than usual......
1:45 at this same scene Woods and Mason are choked but Hudson is seemingly not
Hes held at gunpoint tho, also he was thrown out in the desert with zhao, mason, and woods
this was literally established in the game.
also how did hudson go from a cool, badass, ice cube and loyal manz (bo1 hudson), to being pretty much a dickhead (bocw hudson, though its understandable from the heroes POV), to being an L manz to the point where he ends up costing Mason's life (not in my story lmao), Woods' legs and his own life
I’m not sure if Hudson betrayed Mason and Woods but was coerced into doing it, my theory is that Menendez kidnapped Hudson, abducted David, then threatened Hudson that he will kill David, if he didn’t give Mason and Woods false intel.
I personally think there are some argument in Hudson’s defense:
For one, he definitely looks like the kind to do some questionable able things for his country but not for money.
I always wonder what happened to Adler after cold war

Even if Hudson betrayed mason and woods, it would be for a good cause, for masons son's safety so he wouldn't get killed.
WAIT how did kravchenko live? he was died on the last mission in cod black ops 1 and died cause i forgot *or died with woods cause grenade at kravchenko body*
I think by the time they got to Panama, Hudson was already captured by Menendez
My theory is that Hudson didn’t betray and didn’t believe kravchencko when he said menedez had ppl in the cia , my theory is that Jason hudson’s closest cia agents (who are nobodies) betrayed Hudson by capturing David and threatening to KiII him
it's hard to say bro but yea some parts i think he did
mission old wounds in the end hudson doesn’t get beat up like mason and woods
He still gets thrown out to the desert tho, and he is held at gunpoint too.
If he did i definitely think it was because Hudson got pinched. What would he have to gain by joining Cordiz Die? More than likely it was because Mendez had leverage over him
I remember where Hudson was punched by Woods
Theory 2 makes sense cause Hudson did everything to protect David from that mad man cause Mendez is crazy he would have killed David but what I still don’t understand is how is he still alive after that grenade went off
Hudson's purse is well seen in the Cold War as a trash man
I think Hudson Wants to take over the world, but at this moment, if you look at 2:50, Noriega's face will shake his head, as if he's planning something 🤔
Bro was just doing his job
Tbh i was always kinda sus of Hudson. His cia connections and how he always seems to be working behind the scenes. He shows up when he’s needed but leaves without explanation.
i feel like theory 3 is the most reasonable, i dnt think hudson would want to get these two killed
David lived as a navy seal to get menendez
Hey thx 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Plot twist, Hudson betrayed himself.
Is Adler part of this timeline I always wondered if it was him because Hudson was too much a by the books guy
i mean that's CIA's signature
Who helped Hudson after the grenade
Did Hudson betray Mason and Woods? yes he did
Hudson was just protecting David
I think there only 2 theories right to save David and save his family and my answer is yes bc he wants to save someone even he prepared betray someone for child or family even himself can be betrayed
And my final answer is yes he did he betray woods and mason for David and his family
(R.I.P mason😔🕊🌹)
If Hudson‘s family was being held captive they would have been in the basement too with woods the basement crawler with Mason the dead with Hudson the shade less and with David the basement kid
Who was helping Hudson after the grenade was thrown
I wonder the loudspeaker say and the pdf
If hudson was a traitor he died by his own hands
yes he did and then he sacrificed himself to save Woods and David Mason
What about the cia memo in the compound?
There's something else going on here, Woods.
No. He had to do what he did otherwise Menendez would kill David
ever since BO1 i never trusted Hudson
Either theory he betrayed them 1, 2, or 3 he still betrayed them🤷🏽♂️
Hudson is perfectly rated be honest it is simmers with
Menendez wouldnt have killed Hudson if he was a traitor. Hes a far too useful asset.
Sounds like the direction Treyarch is going is that Adler could potentially be the “people in the CIA” Kravchenko was referring to
to be fair woods threw a grenade at hudson
He didn't he choosed to die than let the kid die
you know what hudson? 1:39 he is right and you lie.
