Buildings don't have tail pipes, but that's how the USS Enterprise found the cloaking device in a Klingon ship so if a building can be made invisible by such a means, jets, planes, etc. and the ATC could map out the building. Just an idea by a Trekker.

From an Architect point of view, I hope none of these examples become a trend in the future, in fact, I'm sure they won't. These are a one thing only time type of stuff, It's not a revolutionary thing like steel framing, or the use of steel structures combined with concrete from later years. I only see a bright future for 3D printed construction, from an economic, quicker and greener stand point, it surely has a lot of pottential to become an actual contructive and design system for the years to come, and start putting the eye on more efficient and less disruptive ways of building, thinking about climate change and incorporated with sustainable architecture and technology.

I don't think this is true. I feel with this stay at home thing that is happening right now, that we will learn that we don't need huge cities where people need to physically go to produce work.. All office workers can work from home.. No need for travel or wasted land for roads and mega cities.. My wifes company has closed down and they have discovered that in just one week that they can do 100% of all their work with the employees working from home.. The only thing is the need to travel to the court house to complete the works performed at home.. The CEO's are seriously thinking they can move their entire business from the office floor in the city where more than 90 people need to gather, to moving it to home. Emails replace paper mail. Video calls replace face to face..

These are all gimmicks and monstrosities. The video does not mention the problems that a lot of modern architecture has when it comes to user comfort, impact on the environment, costs of maintenance and rapid degradation. Like much of our consumerist, consumerist architecture is not built to last, but to be replaced in a few decades, at great cost. The channel has another video on buildings that were total fails, including a few that were setting fire and melting their surrounding. The future should not be about technological fetishism, it should be about true sustainability, local and regional identity, naturally pleasing shapes and textures. We made a lot of compromises for economic growth, by cramming ourselves into cities, delaying childbirth and limiting our birth rates to unsustainable levels. The future belongs to using the wealth created to fix these problems, by returning to walkable communities, human scale architecture and promoting the wellbeing of people. Just like we recognized the problem that polluting industry creates, but had to go through that phase in order to reach higher levels of growth where resources could be invested in mitigating that pollution and reversing damage to local environment, so too do we have to sit back and understand that human needs are different from architecture egos and behind every glitzy Zaha Hadid building, there are thousands of dystopian buildings aping their betters and managing to offer less than their predecessors.

  • @eggballo4490

I have absolutely no faith in future generations. In an effort to design "quirky" and "modern", we've built these eyesores that ruin our already damaged cities. I bet, in 50 years, these buildings will start falling apart and be demolished, while the beautiful gothic, classical, and art deco buildings will continue to stand the test of time.

the one that's 100 years old from gaudi proves otherwise. his architectural masterpieces are both a staple of spanish culture, and also timeless landmarks that lasted long after he passed away, which we cannot say for all our current architecture

Like others have commented. Is it really wise to have an invisible tower by an airport? Surely you need some lighting on top to warn pilots that there is a bloody great building in front of them? Also regarding invisible structures. Yes, it may seem appealing but there is one major drawback. Birds and insects won't be able to see them and it is very much a certainty that many will die as a result of flying into them. They have a hard time as it is with our glass covered skyscrapers and towers. Rather than make it invisible, make it beautiful. Some of the designs shown in this video are very beautiful and with the addition of plants the concrete jungle effect is broken up.

3D printing may be cheap, but the equipment to do it
    ISN'T !
    An invisible building
near an airport is NOT a good idea !
Put it some place else !
Perhaps near a Sports Stadium !
Also, what's up with this idea of having
    an insect park near
where people are living, we certainly do not want swarms
Of mosquitos, or cockroaches living near people , even if there are trees nearby !

It sucks that it took us so long to focus on greener energy options and it sucks that there are so many people out there who are still fighting it while we are actively suffering global climate change... I'm glad a new generation is taking over all this stuff it's time if it's not too late already.

We have less than ten years before the oceans rise to levels that Dallas will have a beach.

I agree with metropolitans becoming soulless and uninspiring. Even depressing. This is why places like Dubai are attractive. They’re trying to build a wonder of a city. Trying and risking new designs. Sure a lot of projects never get finished but that’s what comes with risk. Why aren’t cities awe inspiring anymore? Seeing the pyramid metropolis in the middle of a lake in Mexico like Tenochtitlan. This is our planet we live on everyday, and we hurt this planet everyday, the least we can do is make her beautiful. Instead of just stacking shit and trash up to the sky.

I’m gonna laugh when these tree buildings start having roots grow through walls and support columns or rabid animals living in them.

Why should there be the fish building a.k.a the dumbest building ever in the list?
